This condo is everything the description lists. It was very clean and well taken care of. The owner of this property has great customer service and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. I would recommend this property to anybody going to Luquillo. On the listing it says a car is necessary, and that is a must. The condo is gated and there is a designated parking spot to park in. Luquillo is a small town and its best attraction is the beach. Luckily, this condo has the beach right outside its balcony. It is absolutely beautiful. The beach straight out back has waves and if you walk 5 minutes (seriously) down the beach to the left there is a cove without any waves (you can see that area from the balcony as well). We are from California and I guess we are used to waves so we enjoyed both beaches. The water is a beautiful light blue and warm - a treat from what we are used to. Luquillo can be shocking from what North American cities are like. Instead of feeling scared in Luquillo (we never saw any homeless or scary looking people) we actually felt sorry for the little town because about half of the houses have been abandoned since Hurricane Hugo in 1989, but the houses that have rebuilt are quaint and well taken care of. The people we met in Luquillo were very friendly. Walking distance from the condo, on the corner of the street where the condo is, there is a restaurant named Guavas, and one street opposite the condo is a plaza with a church, a delicious bakery, the Mayor’s office and a convenience store. Next to the plaza is the police department and the post office. Five minutes drive away there are a lot of restaurants, a Walgreens and a super market. If you are used to traveling to other countries, or want to experience a different culture other than North American, then Puerto Rico and Luquillo are great places to come visit and I would say the best place to stay in Luquillo is this condo. We loved it and I even have the view from this condo's balcony as my computer's desktop wallpaper.
First of all, Gladys was amazing to work with! We flew to Puerto Rico to get married. Not only was the place as promised, Gladys went out of her way to help us with so many things.
If you want a local place right on the beach with plenty of room! Wonderful amenities and lots of local attractions, this is a great place to choose. We will be back for sure.
We spent a great deal of time on the beach both the public and the beach right in front of the apartment. The view was totally amazing. There is also a local place called board riders we went to every night. Lots of fun and super nice people. We also liked the kiosk area and it is only a few minutes away.
The property was very clean and had all the things you would want to have on a week long stay or for however long really it was also gated and had an elevator which made it really safe and easy to access.
Everything was as promised and again, Gladys went out if her way to make us feel welcome and help us with our beach wedding.
Thanks Gladys and see you again soon!

The listing was extremely accurate with respect to location, layout, and amenities. The location for our 5 day Puerto Rican vacation was perfect for our planned activities.
GP met us promptly at the airport in San Juan and gave us wonderful information about things to do and places to eat on the island and around the condo. We rented a car and drove 50 minutes east to Luquillo. The town of Luquillo is a beautiful and quiet little beach town with a few restaurants and some large condominium buildings but is in close proximity to the bioluminescence bay in Fajardo, El Yunque (rainforest), and the ferry to Vieques/Culebra in Fajardo.
Luquillo also had a grocery store and walgreens. Every morning we enjoyed a big breakfast while enjoying listening to the waves and watching the surfers. We also purchased a boogie-board from wal-mart and left it for the future guests. La Pared beach is literally a 1 minute walk from the condo.
Our activities included: The two Forts in Old San Juan, visiting the Bio Bay (Las Cabezas de San Juan), Hiking and swimming to La Mina Falls in El Yunque, a tour of Casa Bacardi and a tour of Los Arcos/La Cueve del Indio.
Overall, the property was clean and well kept when we arrived. GP was helpful and courteous in our stay at the condo. The people of Luquillo were nice and we never felt unsafe. I highly recommend this condo.
Our family of five had an enjoyable stay here. We had plenty of space for all of us and found everything we needed. We were appreciative of the chairs and beach towels and the washer/dryer. We purchased boogie boards and mailed them home at a minimal cost at the end of the week. Having them made it a great experience for the kids. The beach in front of the condo is a good one for older kids/strong swimmers. Definitely a strong current, but a great place to watch surfers. Walking down the beach a bit, you get to experience several other types of beaches including small waves, no waves, reefs etc. At one point, if you walk far enough there is a place where you can not see any of the buildings around and there is no noises - not even a wave crashing. It was like being on a deserted island. We had fun exploring the beach front, eating at the kiosks and walking around the town. It is definitely a place for people looking to have a local experience. On our first evening we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching groups of people below singing, dancing and playing musical instruments while sharing food and drinks by the ocean. We never tired of sitting on the balcony. The sound of the ocean fills the living room and dining room. One evening we had the good fortune to take a beach walk and happened upon a group of people collecting turtles that had just hatched. We got the kids and we all helped look for baby turtles and set them free. Another evening while on a beach walk, we saw a group of ten men on horseback come riding down the street. Apparently they were just out for an evening ride. We enjoyed walking to several local restaurants and the building and town felt quite safe to walk around in the evening. We really enjoyed this home while we were in Puerto Rico.
On July 2014 I rented this apartment from Ms. Gladys Pastrana. I was so worried about renting online, that I crucified the rental agreement with notes and clarifications before signing. As soon as I spoke with Ms. Pastrana over the phone, her soft spoken voice and enthusiastic attitude showed me I was so far from reality! She came to be so present, helpful, available, sincere and ready to deliver on every aspect she and her ad offered; the sea, El Yunque views, the sands and breeze of La Pared beach, and the spectacular sunrise; neatness and reasonably spacious and impecable rooms and baths, quality of A\C equipment and the kitchen (which I never used, too many options in the neighborhood), and the overall maintenance of the building itself.
I grew up on that area of the island. After 20 years I came back with my kids (22 & 25), my gran daughter and son-in-law to show them how is PR, my roots, gather with my family and my good old friends on our 40th High School grad anniv. There is a nice pub\restaurant and a pub with entrées, wall to wall to the premises. Drinks, dinner, delicious at ‘Guava’; drinks, music, dancing and gathering with friends at ‘Board Riders’; enjoying the sun on the ‘La Pared’ sands and playing with my family all day long playing the waves (warning: current may be strong, be extremely careful) while watching the surfers that gather there since early until late in the evening. You can even rent surfboards or have a surfing class, 15 seconds walking distance.
The town is quiet. The place is safe. Behind the apartment building the street is barely populated with a few un-occupied properties but they don’t divert the secured feeling I had in town. Never felt a threat. The people who gather at Guava’s and Board Riders were college guys and young tourists from other adjacent apartment complexes and senior couples from around. The environment is so nice and informal… I even developed a drink with the Board Riders’ bartender: ‘Low Tide’ where I stayed until bedtime. My children say that this stay was by far the best pick. !!They want me to buy a place here..!!
A mini market, a bar, a small jewelry store, unisex hair stylist, the Town Hall, Fire fighters, police station, the catholic church, mail station, some governmental offices, a food market, Walgreens, typical American fast food places and the town Plaza are all 1-2 minute walking or driving distance. A VIP breakfast at a ridiculously fair price? West to the plaza at Aroma
I would like to echo everything Dianna F and Jill O said.
It was a pleasure dealing with Gladys. Our flight came in very early, so she picked a delightful little restaurant to meet and get us our keys. Her son then met us at the car rental when it was time to return our keys.
The condo was everything we hoped it would be. There were 5 of us and it was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. With a grocery store close, we enjoyed many meals at the condo. Some days, we used the cooler and packed our lunches.
Luquillo was an excellent place to stay. It had everything we needed close by. Being right on the highway, it was easy to get to all the things we wanted to do. We visited the Arecibo Observatory, Rio Camuy Cave Park, Old San Juan (several times), El Yunque Rain Forest, Las Playas (a natural rock water slide), Toro Verde (zip lining) and Fajardo (snorkeling tour). We wanted to kayak at the bio-luminescent bay, but it was all booked up. I suggest booking that as soon as you get to Puerto Rico(or even before you get there) We also wanted to go to the island of Culebra, but the ferry situation in Fajardo is a mess. Kayaking Puerto Rico offers guaranteed spots on the Ferry, but they were also booked up.
As much as I enjoyed the day trips, I really enjoyed just hanging around in Luquillo. The beach right outside the condo is very good. We had high surf warnings, so you had to be careful of the surf and undertows. Sometimes, we just headed down the beach a couple of hundred yards where the surf wasn't so strong. We found several excellent restaurants within blocks of the condo. One was called El Rincon Del Sabor and another one was MarySol. We had drinks at Boardrider’s, but it was always too crowded to eat there. A little further away was the Brass Cactus. We ate there while we watched the Badger’s in the NCAA basketball tournament. Several nights, we went and ate at the Kiosks on Luquillo beach. #20 was called Terruno, and had amazing Rabbit Stew. The Tattoo Tavern had very reasonable and very good food.
All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. I look forward to going back to Puerto Rico and Luquillo soon.
