Country home in Columbia County, NY, close to all Berkshire attractions, including Tanglewood, Lenox, and Great Barrington. An easy drive to many superb cultural programs in the summer and Berkshire ski resorts in the winter. Plus gorgeous colors in the fall! 1800s farmhouse, with modern addition: 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, a wonderful great room (family living room and dining room), modern kitchen, formal dining room, additional formal living room, pool room, front porch, and back deck. Fully equipped for entertaining with all amenities. On 50 wooded acres near state forest. Membership in local lake's summer swim club included. Public tennis courts nearby. Ideal for 1 or 2 families -- with a basketball hoop, swing set, and big lawn for Wiffle ball, croquet, badminton, and barbecues.

Many cultural and historical attractions nearby: Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Shakespeare & Company, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Mac-Haydn Theatre, Norman Rockwell Museum, Clark Art Institute, Mass MOCA, Olana,and historic sites. 64 miles to Saratoga racetrack. Our family stayed at Berkshire Retreat several times during different seasons. It’s a great place to stay, with plenty of rooms and a wonderful atmosphere. The house is organized in a way that allows for privacy, but also has several large common areas. It was so nice spending our evenings together in the house, and we couldn’t get the boys away from the pool table.

It’s a very nice break from the chaos of the city. The property extends back into a beautiful, secluded woodland area with a small creek. The woods are great for hiking, and there’s a lawn between the woods and the house that we loved using for barbecues and family games of soccer or baseball.

There are a few ski resorts nearby, so it was a very short drive for us from the house.
