our experience at this beautiful home on the river near New Braunfels was wonderful. The owner was a great hostess and was sure everything was provided to make our stay comfortable and relaxing I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone who is planning a vacation in the area.
For starters, the house is not just a short driveway away from the water. It is a driveway shared by at least ten other houses with lots of cars driving around.... not ideal for small children. The ramp was terrible, our inboard bottomed out when putting the boat in and out. My biggest problem, however, was how the owner handled our complaint about it not being even close to the water. We very respectfully called just to see what the refund policy would be for the other nights since we didn't think this was going to work for us, and there is a no refund policy and the cancellation policy (even far in advance) is that you must come some other time. Fine. Ok. No refund... it couldn't hurt to try, right? But from there on out the owner just wrote us off apparently as not worth the trouble and did nothing to make our stay more enjoyable. We are a young military family who travel a lot, and we usually stay in Quality/Comfort Inns (not very high standards). Here is our list of additional complaints…. There were no trundle beds (being refurbished?), there was dog hair on the unmatched, very old sheets, tons of animal hair and pee stains all over the carpets, the supposedly replaced propane grill was nowhere to be found and we were left with a very old, rusted out, unusable one, the card table was broken, the camping chairs were broken, the two larger burners on the stove were broken, the large trash can was full to the brim, the “manicured” lawn was very overgrown. And not to blame the owner for everything that went wrong on this trip… but I kind of wonder if we had been able to see the giant fire ant hills in the grass, if my husband still would have had a giant swollen foot that left waterskiing out of the question. It’s fine, the house has had a lot of renters, things break, but really it was hard to find something that was as advertised. Mostly, I was so disappointed with how Stacy handled it. All we wanted were some clean sheets so we could remake the beds and asked about the promised toilet paper, and she was unavailable to help us for the entire stay. To refute her reply already, this of course was entirely our fault. You see, we were told to contact her when we were an hour from the house. We live a little less than an hour from New B, and I called her when we were 30 minutes out, assuming she knew we were arriving that afternoon at least. She had left a key, and said that since we gave her no warning we were out of luck. We left early, it was that bad.
Sorry this is a little late, Stacy, but better late than never. We had an AWESOME time at your property...everything was just perfect. Some of the high points were as follows:
___fenced yard for our 3 dogs to enjoy
___state of the arts kitchen with everything we needed
___tubes for use in the lake for fun (water was so close)
___house was very clean upon our arrival
___you made our first trip floating the river a great experience
___plenty of board games for the kids including a brand new Monopoly
___we really enjoyed eating at the Dirty B and Q...Dirty Burger was fantastic
___had a wonderful dinner in Gruene
___great "Market Days" im Gruene
Just a suggestion...you might want to consider installing blinds in the living room area for a little bit of privacy at night.
I'm sure I'll forget something, but just know we had a wonderful time, and certainly would consider coming again. It was a pleasure to meet you, and I pray God's blessings will overtake you each and every day!
First off, let me say that this house was very cute - clean, bright, well-stocked. We ended up having a very nice weekend getaway with our dogs. The disappointment came when we drove up to the house. When making the reservation, it was stated that this was "waterfront", and it was apparent that we didn't do our research. (In hindsight, knowing that the reviews were all from a couple years ago should have clued us in to ask more questions.) We were expecting to be right on the river - able to step out the door and see the water. This was in fact a "waterview" location - but the view was blocked by 2 junk cars in the neighbor's yard! There were two nonoperational cars (a Camero and a hideous Bronco) blocking the view out the front window. This ruined the whole point of a vacation getaway on the water.
Our next disappointment came with the so-called outdoor grill. We were under the impression it was a gas grill, so we brought a lot of things to cook for the weekend. Well, the "gas" grill didn't actually work. It was rusted out on the bottom and didn't have an ignitor button. Then there was an old charcoal grill that was missing its legs - which made for a very interesting cooking experience on the ground. We also had to go out and buy a lighter & charcoal in order to even use it! The worst part really was that it was in the back of the house, which didn't include a table, a patio, or an outdoor light. Our grilling & dining experience was pretty unenjoyable. :( We ended up going out to dinner more than we wanted to.
Some of the reviews talked about "concierge" service, but since they were from a couple of years ago, I don't think that is offered anymore. Oh well. Again, our overall experience was tainted by a couple things, but didn't ruin our entire vacation. We loved visiting Gruene, floating the Guadalupe, and Schlitterbahn. I wish we would have asked more questions ahead of time about the location and some of the ammenities.
My wife and I stayed for 3 days near the river in Stacey's rental in early November. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great those days and we didn't get to enjoy the common area on the water with our family as we would have liked.
The home is in a quiet (except for the early rising rooster) neighborhood, with nice furnishings and a 2 car garage. Stacey was a charming, exuberant hostess, welcoming us upon our early arrival and providing everything we needed, including coffee, for our stay.
We elected to sleep in the larger bedroom with twin trundle beds since it was larger with a very nice bath and the mattresses were a little firmer (our preference, not the mattresses problem).
My only suggestion for Stacey would be that, since she welcomes pets in her home, she replace the carpet in the bedrooms with tile as in the rest of the house, since some small stains were the only blemish in an otherwise beautifully furnished house.

Our family completely enjoyed our weeklong getaway. The Lake is absolutely gorgeous. The house is very nice, clean, and well-maintained. We really only needed to bring our food - everything else is in the house. The location is just outside new Braunfels, but very near to all the area attractions. Stacey made sure we were well-taken care of. I think we now prefer staying on Lake McQueeney over staying in town. Being able to bring our boat and our dog was an added bonus - loved it.
