Beautiful apartment and two independent romantic cottages in this exclusive private historic 18th century estate, the Portuguese “Quinta”, in the heart of the historic centre of Sintra (world heritage town) with large (18mx8m) swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Both the apartment and cottages provide two bedrooms, two bathrooms, only 5 minutes walk to the train station, 15 minutes drive to the beach, 30 minutes to Lisbon, 15 minutes to Cascais for more sophisticated night life and shopping.
There are several golf courses near by, including the famous Penha Longa and Estoril Golf course. Sintra is a world heritage site and there is a lot to be seen. This property is in the heart of its centre, and yet it is very peaceful and quiet. There are several beaches within easy reach, from the Guincho beach, famous for its wind surfing, to the Praia Grande beach also famous for surfing.

We had such a lovely time here. The setting is wonderful - like something out of a fairy tale. Not only does Sintra itself offer a wonderful setting, with cool forests, a moorish castle and a white palace, but La Quinta de Sao Sebastao is elegant, beautiful, quiet and private. Our little villa in the garden was all we wanted....peaceful, comfortable and cool. We loved the little private garden, and also spent lots of time in the shared pool with its stunning views. The villa was well equipped with crisp sheets, comfy beds and a full kitchen. We were very grateful for the milk, eggs, cheese, bread and wine in the fridge when we arrived. There was a small shop just up the hill that sold bread, cheese and fruit which was very convenient. Most things in Sintra were in walking distance, and we took advantage of the cafes, bars and little restaurants in the town. We had two memorable meals at Lawrences Hotel, and would recommend it to anyone going to Sintra. All in all a wonderful holiday, and highly recommended! Thanks to Salvador for making us feel very much at home.
We have just enjoyed the most wonderful 2 week holiday in Sintra, staying in A Cozinha Velha (Apartment A) at Quinta Sao Sebastiao. It was just perfect for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children ages 8 & 6) & we were made very welcome by our hosts. The apartment is very spacious, comfortable & with all mod-cons. On arrival we found some groceries had been provided in our kitchen - bread, milk, butter, fruit & beer! The gardens are lovely. We had several sessions in the lovely swimming pool, which seems to be in the sun all day - four comfy sunbeds & great views across Sintra town, the National Palace & the Moorish Castle above. Sintra makes a perfect base for exploring. As well as the fabulous local palaces (we especially recommend Quinta da Regaleira) & castle, we visited lots of places in the area, too many to list here. Several beaches are only a 15 minute drive away (also served by regular buses) & the centre of Lisbon can be reached by train in 35 minutes; the station is about a 5 minute walk from the Quinta. In conclusion, I cannot recommend the Quinta more highly. Beautiful, quiet yet in the heart of Sintra.
My wife and I spent the week at this beautiful property and we had high expectations. They were surpassed by the exceptional nature of the place, the quality of the accommodation.
The owners, who were discreet and delightful hosts. We loved the stunning surroundings. We felt very welcome and it was a privilege to be in this beautiful corner of Portugal. Sintra is a must if you come to Lisbon. We loved the apartment that we rented but we also got to see the others on the property and they are all well equiped and tastefully decorated.
Sintra has historically been the playground of royalty and we now understand why it is a world heritage site.
We will be back next year and will bring our children next time.
PS. Great typical restaurants within walking distance.
Spent two weeks at Quinta de Sao Sebastio, Jul 2011. Cottage A. Had a great time exploring the area. No car and managed very well by train, tram and taxi. Very easy to visit Lisbon by train. Frequent, 40 mins. Very hilly locality. This property is very unique and the owner Salvator could not have been more helpful. What it lacks in luxury it makes up for in quaintness and character. Bathroom could be improved. Very peaceful and private, it was lovely to have our own private garden. It is only minutes walk from the train and old town.
Just had the very real pleasure of staying in Apartment A. And what a treat it was.
Situated in the heart of Sintra, within the grounds of a truly beautiful Quinta (or estate), this place offered privacy, space, coolness, old-world charm and access to a fantastic swimming pool.
What's more, our hosts couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. Highly recommended.

This property is fantastic!! The pool is beautiful, and the family is very nice. We recomend it. The apartment is behind the main house. Ask the owners to see the manor house. Its worth a visit!!
Sintra is a world heritage site and has a lot to be seen. Royal palaces, museums, exhibitions, restaurants, are all within walking distance from the estate. People can rent special electric bicycles to explore for themselves, the infinite charms of this magical part of the world
There are several golf courses nearby, including the famous Penha Longa, The Marinha and the Estoril Golf course.
