Lovell Lake Vacation Rental cottage

This cabin was clean, organized and came stocked with condiments (maple syrup, butter, salt/papper, etc.) which was helpful. It is fully stocked with cooking pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils. The gas fire keeps the place very snug, although the heat couldn't be turned to Low in order to enjoy the flickering flames but not so much of the blasting warmth! We did bake bread and make a homeade apple pie in the oven and both turned out great. The screened-in porch was great for sitting outside on rainy mornings or mosquito-filled nights. We were there in October, the coldest night got down to 42 F, so if you come in a cooler month, bring wool blankets! We were glad for ours. A short walk away in town is a grocery store and ice cream shop. The DVD player worked well and rentals are available at the Shurfine Grocery. The Library, within walking distance, also has Internet and WiFi. The cabin was in a good central location for day trips/hiking. We found the place very cozy and snug and liked the knotty pine walls. We thought in actuality it was bigger overall than the photos had showed. Parking is on the top of the hill behind the cabin, 30 seconds walk down steps to the side door, and then more steps to the meadow by the lake. Foliage across the bay was stunning. Lots of resident chipmunks.

Overall we found the place great: private, quiet (the neighbors never showed), stocked for cooking and baking, and everything worked. We picked the cabin partially because it was pet-friendly: we travel always with dogs in tow. The dogs loved the swimming: the lake is quite shallow in many places which would be good for kids exploring. Both the owner and the rental agent were available for questions and extra photos and the rental agent met us at the house with the key.
