I am a single widowed woman. My home is located behind the Front House Cape. I purchased the two homes with the intent of having the Front House income to help pay the mortgage. I have lived in the 2 unit home and on the property since 1989. The Front House Cape was built in 1939 and my back home was built in 1960. When I bought the two houses in 2004, there were some major renovations done on the Front House Cape. New electrical, new boiler, new roof, all new appliances. I also had the Cape insulated and freshly painted.
I am originally from Albion and Waterville Maine. I have lived in the Wells area since 1983. I had worked in several restaurants, motels and worked at Hannaford Brothers for 15 years.
The Cape is ideal for families of 8 or less. There is a small yard out back with two peach trees and a raspberry patch. Not large enough for yard games, yet quaint enough to relax on the back porch for a small barbaque. The driveway is shared with both houses and enough parking for up to maximum 3 cars for the Front House.
My father-in-law owned this property prior to myself. Upon my husbands passing I choose to purchase it from my mother-in-law. I have lived on the property longer than anywhere during my young life. It has history all around it. I hope to gain enough repeat guests who appreciate it's value and age, so as I can keep renting it for a long time to come.
The Front House Cape is simple. 4 bedrooms with enough space so it is like a home away from home. I am slowly making adjustments on the landscape to make it private, and easy to take care of.
