Unforgettable restaurants, the magnificent carriage roads, nearby museums, galleries and libraries add to the charm of the area.

To help you enjoy what Mount Desert has to offer, we have kayaks for your use. These are free with your rental. Life jackets will be provided for you as well.

One of a Kind Vacation Rental near Bar Harbor

We recently returned from a wonderful 1 week stay at this residence. Mount Desert Island is an amazing vacation destination. This rental is centrally located to access the entire island with a 15 minute drive to any local destination (Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, etc.). The views from this house on the wide water of Somes Sound combined with the mountainous backdrop are in my opinion the best on the island. At high tide, the calm ocean waters are directly beneath the home's deck, which is a one-of-a-kind feature that you will not find on any other vacation rentals. At low tide, there was probably 50 feet of usable rocky beach in front of the house. We stayed there with our children ages 4 to 9 and they loved playing in the ocean waters and the rocky beach area every day. We made use of the on-site Kayaks to explore the beautiful waterways of Somes Sound as well. In the evenings we built camp fires in front of the home on the banks of the Sound. The home itself is fresh and clean and beautifully remodeled, with Flat screen TVs in every room. The owners have provided a very high-end vacation rental. We also found the kitchen to be well-stocked with nice cookware and all of the basic paper products (trash bags, aluminum foil, toilet paper, etc.) All we had to do was hit the local grocery store to stock up for a week's worth of food. We will definitely stay at this same location on our next visit to Bar Harbor.

Great Cottage

This cottage is exactly as it is described. A perfect setup, with all the modern amenities you will ever need. The sound of ocean at high tide is unbelievable as it comes under the house at high tide. Great location and well worth the price. The other cottages looked just as nice as Jibe-Ho, but this had the best views. We look forward to returning next year.

This is a spotless house located right on the water. Although in a private location, it is a short distance from the pretty town of Southwest Harbor. Boat rentals are available in Manset, again a short distance away. Lots of restaurants in the area but very easy to cook at home as well. Ideal house for two couples with 2 private master suites.

This house is wonderful. The rooms are bright, clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. Although there are nearby houses and a campground, it affords a tremendous amount of privacy, making it a great choice for those who prefer the quiet side of Mt. Desert rather than the congestion of Bar Harbor.

The view across Somes Sound of Mt. Norumbega is spectacular, and every morning our kids (ages 9, 6, and 3) would climb over the rocky low tide shoreline, finding hundreds (yes, literally) of sea stars, sea urchins, green crabs, periwinkles, limpets, etc. They had an awesome time, as did we.

I would highly recommend this house. It is a wonderful value!
