Excellent base of operations for all activitities

Ted, Loretta and Ira UK and Italy
Review Submitted: July 25, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We have been coming to Villa Maria offseason now for some years to study ancient Roman aqueducts, the most important ones of which, are in and about the Tivoli area and further out. The villa makes an excellent base of operations for trips to Rome, Tivoli, and even into the Abruzzo, which has some fascinating places to visit and is completely off the typical, well-trod tourist path.

Pleasent stay in beautiful and cosy neighborhood

Norrman Finland, Muurame
Review Submitted: July 17, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2008
There were two kids and four adults when we visited Villa Maria. Staircase did not bother our kids, they were mostly outside anyway. Close to Hadrian's villa there is a very good kids' playground, but our kids favorite was up by Tivoli (great views over the valley from the park), which is a must-see for anyone coming to Villa Maria.
Actually, we spent more time in Tivoli and roaming the ancient villages up on the hills, than in central Rome. After all, hills are filled with beautiful Castles, Churches and villages some of which don't have any houses post-1500. Plus, people are very friendly. That's why I would recommend this place for adventure seekers and sightseeing, too. It's much easier to travel around from Villa Maria compared to living in Central Rome.
Oh yes, and don't miss the bakery (if it still exists) just few hundred meters off the house - their Pizza Bianco is the best there is!
Owner's Response: We remember our friendly guests from Finland very well. Thank you for this nice review!

Villa Maria

Review Submitted: August 10, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Easy enough to explore Rome with the excellent transport system, without being stuck in a city. And with Tivoli and Hadrian's villa both close, plenty of local interest.
The property was clean and well maintained. The owner was able to advise us of where to eat / shop &c locally.
