This cottage sits about 10 feet from the lakeshore - it's gorgeous! It's 25 minutes from downtown Portland's fabulous restaurants and activities, yet is a lovely, quiet, lakefront escape. Floor to ceiling windows on the 1st and 2nd floors overlook the lake and sunsets! Relax on the spectacular new deck overhanging the lake, with steps leading down to a new dock. Boat ramp available down the street. The bedroom is huge, on the 2nd floor, with a second deck off of it overlooking the lake. King bed and satellite TV in bedroom. It has one large bathroom with skylight downstairs. There's a fold-out queen couch on the first floor, also. It's fully furnished with dishes, sheets, towels, paper products, etc. and has a well-appointed kitchen with coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave oven, and cookware. In the living area, there's a TV with satellite, DVD player, and surround sound. Gas grill. Washer & Dryer. Sorry, no smoking, no pets.

The cottage is located on the East side of Highland Lake in Windham. Highland Lake is a lovely lake, about 3 miles long (North-South) and a half a mile wide (East-West). It's large enough for water skiing, yet small and quiet enough for fishing, canoeing, swimming, and relaxing. The sunsets are spectacular! The cottage is about 25 minutes from downtown Portland, with some of the finest restaurants in the world. Portland boasts museums, shows, shopping, whale watching, ferries to coastal islands, and many other fun activities. The town of Freeport, with many famous outlets and the LL Bean flagship store, is a mere 35 minutes away. If you go to mapquest.com and type in the property address (209 Cottage Road, Windham, ME) you'll see exactly where it's located and what's nearby.

Perfect Lakside Retreat

I came to this beautiful cabin after dropping my daughter off at college. It was the perfect place to spend a few days transitioning to my new life as an empty-nester. The cabin was bright and cheerful and the view out on the lake was extrodinary. I spent evenings on the deck with a glass of wine enjoying the sunset. I awoke each morning to the pristine lake right outside the bedroom window. The setting was very private and secluded yet Portland and other coastal attractions were a short drive away. I would definately return again and have already recommended the house to my friends.

Perfect Honeymoon Spot

We spent the week after our wedding at this perfectly peaceful, romantic cottage. As cliche as it sounds, the pictures don't do this place justice. The sunsets over the lake, the stars, and the giant windows overlooking all of it were just stunning. The space is extremely well laid out and the bed is wonderfully comfortable.

Debbie was extremely helpful and thoughtful and even left us fresh flowers and champagne as congratulations for our wedding.

The kitchen was fully stocked with pots/pans, utensils, plates and even some spices. The professional grade grill outside was perfect. We took several day trips to Portland, Freeport and even Rockland and Camden and this place is close enough to all of it.

Especially coming from Brooklyn, NY, this really is the perfect place to relax. It's wonderfully romantic and allowed us to soak up all of the prior week's events while getting used to the word newlyweds.

I recommend this place without hesitation.

Excellent Rental!

The property was extremely clean and well maintained. The view was incredible and my family loved the decks and the lake dock. The fully furnished house was very well equipped as we were able to cook our own meals and wash clothes (even the laundry detergent was provided!). The location was convenient, removed from busy areas but close enough for easy access to local attractions. Debra was available when we needed her but did not infringe on our vacation in any way. I would highly recommend this vacation rental; it was well worth the price!

The Best!!!

My family and I stayed here last summer and I must say this is the nicest place I have ever rented. Everything was as described and super-clean. The view of the lake is awesome, and the rooms are very comfortable with lots of space. There is a beautiful deck and dock, also a nice barbeque grill. The kitchen is so well stocked with condiments that you do not need to bring any at all. The owners are very nice, and close enough if you need anything. I would recommend this rental without qualifications! We will be back again and again.

Great location, great house

We have been staying in vacation rentals every summer for over 15 years. This was the nicest place we've stayed. Instead of the usual furnishings of castaways from other homes, this house is beautifully appointed with coordinated decor. It was especially nice to have sheets and towels provided and what a treat to have a washer and dryer! The location is perfect, very close to Portland with all its attractions, and yet quiet and pristine. The lake is quiet and very clean, the sunsets are incredible. We will be back!
