5 bedrooms, 3 full baths, beds for 11 (2 others on futon sofa)

Woodberry is a comfortably furnished three story house. A living room with fireplace; dining area w/ table for 8-10 plus additional seating for 5 at a side table and island; large, well-equipped kitchen with island and 3 stools; master bedroom (queen) and a full bathroom fill the first floor.

Two bedrooms (2 twins, 1 queen) and one full bath are upstairs. A baby layette, collapsible crib, high chair and baby gates are available. A large bathroom is shared by these two bedrooms.

Lower level (walkout) has two bedrooms (2 twins, 1 bunk bed, 1 day bed), bath with shower and twin sinks, laundry area and a family room (with futon sofa which makes a double bed).

The water side of the house has a deck with glass rails for an unobstructed view and a screened porch. The house is wheelchair friendly with entrance ramp and 3' wide doors on first floor; not legally handicap accessible.

TV/DVD/VHS for movies only. Internet access via WiFi. Long distance calls off island require calling card.

The access point to our typically Maine rocky beach is marked by a rope around a tree. You'll step down onto sloping rocks and walk down rocks and rocky steps to the beach. The elderly and small children will not find this easy access. The difference in elevation between our land and the beach is approximately 10'.

Woodberry is located on the NW side of the island. Beautiful sunsets. Our cottage is set off the road about 800 feet so you don't see or hear cars on Dunham Point Road.

Our area is typical Maine woods with mostly summer residences tucked away along the shore. We have one neighbor within view, but are unaware of their comings and goings.

A 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk will bring you to the dock at Sylvesters Cove. During the summer you can sit and watch fishing boats come and go and meet local summer residents. There's a tidal pool to the right near the beginning of the dock's boardwalk that's fun and safe for toddlers. Sylvesters Cove has a lovely beach for the bold swimmers in your group.

If you kayak, you can put in easily at the cove for some Penobscot Bay kayaking. We are members of the Deer Isle Yacht Club, and as our guests you have access to the dock. If you wish to bring a boat and tie it to the dock there are fees.

  • $1300 - $1800/week
  • Weekly rentals are standard for peak season; two night stay minimum during non-peak season.

    Nightly rates are $320 June to September and $280 September to June.

  • Refundable $300.00 damage deposit.

    Pets are considered. There is a charge of $30 per week for pets plus a separate refundable $100 damage deposit is collected.

    If pets are accepted we require them to be caged when left inside; to not create a nuisance or noise outside; to be kept off the furniture or the furniture covered with a cloth; that you pick up after your pet outside, and that they be kept on a leash when outside. Cabled dog run for leashed pets is on site. Please bring your own retractable leash for use with the run.

    Doors on first floor are 3' wide. Ramp from parking area to front stoop to 1' thick door mat up to door sill approximately 2' above mat. Master bath has space for seated access, but counter is not low. No grab bars at toilet or bath. Access to edge of land overlooking shore would require strong assistant pushing wheelchair. Elec. chairs could not handle the incline.

Notes: There is no television reception at our house (isn't it wonderful!). The TV is for viewing movies. We have a collection for children, young adults and adults. More DVD's are available for rent from Burnt Cove Market about 6 miles away on Route 15A. Cell phone reception is spotty. Long distance calls off island require a calling card. From Woodberry, Blue Hill is a 25 minute drive and Bar Harbor about 1.25 hours, depending on traffic.

Perfect for our family gathering!

Thank you so much! We have loved our week-long stay at Woodberry Cottage. This gave our family the opportunity to have all 11 of us –three generations -- together for a vacation for the first time. And, it was absolutely wonderful. The cottage had all the comforts of home – everything we could imagine or need -- be it for cooking fresh lobster or a closet full of games for the evening. What an incredible view of the ocean and the sunsets! We had great fun with crab races down on the beach, watching the tides change, the trips into Stonington for ice cream, the amazing stars at night, and just relaxing. We even went swimming in the Lily Pond. Cold but good fun. This was a new experience for the grandchildren. I would highly recommend Woodberry Cottage and would love to return.

Fantastic house

I rented Woodberry for a week for my family to come visit. I fealt like I was walking into a dream on arrival. The pictures do not do the place justice. It is as nice as it can be while remaining homey and warm. Having so many things to do from the rocky shore to golf right down the road. Can't say enough, loved it. Also the owners were very pleasant to deal with.

At Woodberry I had the odd sensation that I was spending time at a friend's home. The owner and the house were so welcoming. Lovely decor, wonderful view. Loved the little details like the firewood and the games closet. The screened porch is great. Close enough to Acadia for a day trip. . .plenty to do on Deer Isle. Wish we could have stayed longer. I hope to go back soon.
