Life is Good at the Beach!

If you've never visited Northwest Michigan you are in for a wonderful surprise. The weather is perfect during the summer.
This is a somewhat rustic cottage but it had everything we needed for a great vacation on Lake Charlevoix. Boyne City is just a short drive down the road and is a quaint small town with a decent marina, plenty of places to eat and more than a few unique homes. The owner is very accomdating, lives in the area and can answer most any question about what to do and see.
The Cottage has the feel of being lived in and has plenty of surprises when compared with most. We found many essential items we needed but didn't think to bring like wood for the wood stove, spices for cooking, matches for a camp fire on the beach, games, puzzles, books, videos, as well as all the items we did need - soap and toilet paper, linens, towels and blankets. There are also all of the expected amenities of the typical condo.
The stone patio, extended deck, long dock and sandy beach along with the park beach next door made for a great beach experience. The water color on sunny days rivaled anything we've seen in the carribean. We parked our jet ski at the dock and had nothing to worry about the entire week. We also used the row boat for fishing. There are also some water toys available to supplement what we brought with us.
The Ironton Ferry is just up the road and made for a short trip into one of our favorite resort towns anywhere, Charlevoix.
We were also only a short trip from East Jordan and Murray's Bar and Grill, where we had the excellent all-you-can-eat perch dinner on friday. In Charlevoix make sure you visit the Villager Pub for the whitefish and Juillerets Restaurant for breakfast.
Overall an excellent "up north" vacation experience and one we won't soon forget.
