Dam Cove Lodge has a deck overlooking the fresh-water swimming pond and rolling fields. It is nestled into lovely woods, close to the salt-water tidal cove. The cove is wonderful for swimming two hours either side of high tide. The cove offers superb kayaking and canoeing among the many bays and islands. We have twenty-eight acres of woods, fields, pond and cove shore. the property is quiet, private and secluded. Indoors, there is a 'great room' with a huge field stone fireplace in the living room area and a large dining area which is open to the modern electric kitchen. On this ground floor is the large master bedroom and a small twin-bedded room. On the second floor is a large twin-bedded room and a small bedroom with a double bed. There is also a big family room with a sofa bed and a ping-pong table. On the ground floor there is one full bath room with a shower and another bath room with a sink and a toilet. Upstairs there is a full bathroom with a tub and shower

We are in the small rural town of West Bath, on the eastern edge of Casco Bay. Ten minutes drive brings you to a supermarket, farm stand, fish market, bank and laundromat. Five minutes more brings you to the city of Bath with The Maine Maritime Museum and shops and restaurants. The other direction leads to Brunswick, home of Bowdoin College and The Bowdoin Summer Music Festival and The Maine State Music Theater. Within a short drive are two spectacular sand beaches and some lovely woods walks. Many seafood restaurants may be found in beautiful waterfront locations.

The scenic views of the coast, the bays, islands and fishing villages may be seen by driving and walking, and also by excursion boats and Maine State ferries to many of the islands from several different ports. There are numerous woods walks in the vicinity including two fine, small mountains with sea views which can be climbed even with small children. Dam Cove Lodge is a fine place to see birds, possibly deer, raccoons and porcupines. Because there are no street-lights here, the stars are especially clear and bright.

Seventieth Birthday family gathering place

The description provided is exactly what we found. This place gave three generations of extended family a base for being together, exploring Maine, cooking fabulous meals and sitting around the fireplace sharing stories. We added an inflatable wading pool on the deck for the toddlers which meant water sport for all. The configurations of beds accommodated 10 people easily. You do need your own linens. Laundry is in Bath, 3 miles away. Two stoves and two refrigerators made storing and preparing food for 10 - 12 easy. The big kitchen gives room for lots of chefs at once. Proximity to Popham Beach for ocean, library for rainy days and mid-coast Maine was great. A non-stick skillet or two would add to the cooking ease. Owners are gracious, love the area and are full of info about surrounding woods and water, as well as activities. Highly recommend this home.

TRANQUIL AND BEAUTIFUL

This past summer we rented the Dam Cove Lodge for my son's wedding.It was the perfect place for an intimate affair. The wedding took place near the pond and the beauty of the area contributed to the ceremony.
The accommodations were perfect as there are many rooms for visitors to stay yet gave each of us our own space. I especially enjoyed the fact that the kitchen was well furnished with almost everything that one needed.
I would highly recommend this rental property.

We had a great time at Dam Cove Lodge, a two-floor sprawling house hunkered down in the woods, yet so close to the great shipping city of Bath (five or so car-minutes) that you really felt like you had the best of both worlds. We would get up in the morning, read by the sparkling pond, and sit on the porch. The kitchen is huge and commercial, so we had pancakes one morning, eggs the next. Highly recommended.

Some afternoons we'd go into the city--the magisterial Bath Iron Works frames the town--sip iced coffee at Cafe Creme, shop at Remy's, see the arts-goings-on at the Chocolate Church. But there are also some of the most beautiful dune-laden beaches on the East Coast and lighthouses to see, as well as the Wyeths at the Farnsworth...you'll need to breathe and go slowly.

Quiet and Relaxing

We stayed at The Dam Cove Lodge in July 2006. The house was surprisingly bigger than we expected. The great room is perfect for family gatherings or just relaxing after a day of sighseeing. Our family came and stayed with us for a few days and liked it very much. Plenty of room and my daughter loved the ping pong table upstairs.

We hiked the trails around the property and enjoyed the scenery.

We would stay at this property again.
