Thrill to osprey & eagles soaring overhead and mournful loon choruses. This cozy lakefront cottage has knotty pine and carpeting throughout with updated bath and kitchen, washer & dryer, skylights, ceiling fan, outdoor gas grill, and large screened porch. Fish for perch and bass from dock & float. Or use the aluminum boat & 6 hp Suzuki 4-stroke motor to find small & large-mouths down-lake. Surrounded by tall pines, this comfortable retreat is secluded but not remote, situated on a glacially carved lake that stretches approx. 10 mi. from East Orland to Surry. Great place to stay in late spring, summer and autumn. Near pottery makers & art galleries in Blue Hill, historic Castine and Maine Maritime Academy, picturesque Stonington and Deer Isle; 45 minutes to Acadia. Pet friendly with fee.

Art, music and pottery in Blue Hill; history, museum and Maine Maritime Academy training ship tours in Castine; waterpark and L.L. Bean in Ellsworth; Acadia National Park at Schoodic Point and on Mt. Desert Island (Cadillac Mountain, hiking and horseback riding trails, Sand Beach, scenic drives, Anemone Caves, Thunder Hole; Bar Harbor with whale-watching, seal and puffin cruises; great seafood in numerous restaurants. Toddy Pond offers good fishing for large- and small-mouth bass, brown trout, white and yellow perch, and we rent the camp with an aluminum boat and Suzuki 4-stroke 6 hp outboard motor.. The 2,000-acre lake is also stocked with landlocked salmon and splake (a hybrid of male brook trout and female lake trout).

We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation here. The large dock was great for sunning and swimming and the small beach area made it easy to get in and out with our kayak. It was wonderful to be able to bring our "other" family member, our dog, who thoroughly enjoyed his time there. The cottage was exceptionally clean. The kitchen had every pot, pan or utensil you would ever need and was even stocked with a large assortment of spices. Puzzles for rainy days and binoculars for watching the nearby eagles were a nice touch. Plenty of linens and towels were provided and the washer and dryer were a nice addition. No more taking home of dirty clothes! The only disappointment was that the Jotul woodstove that is shown could not be used. For cold nights a quartz heater was provided, however. I would recommend this cottage to any seeking a truly relaxing and secluded time vacationing in Maine. It's close proximity to Bar Harbor also made it nice to take day trips.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
