We had a wonderful girls weekend at this cabin! The cabin was clean and comfortable! Sam was a wonderful host and took care of anything we needed! Will definitely go back again!
House is super clean and very cute and large enough for a big family to stay. I was a bit unsettled by the large amount of spiders we encountered inside the cabin, but maybe no one had been in there for awhile. I would not have minded except that we had very young children. There is also a beehive very close to cabin, which is cool, but nice to know about beforehand, especially if traveling with small children or people with allergies. The owners are very helpful and nice and very close by. Goats are adorable and fun to a&k ver and visit. Creek is cool, even toddlers loved it. Really fun to go for a walk down the road to the bridge. Not much shade near the house, but beautiful wilderness. Overall great trip.
We went with this cabin rental at the suggestion of a camp ground owner who had no more rentals at their float trip place the weekend before the 4th of July. The booking process was easy, and Sam (the owner of the cabin) was very responsive to my emails.
My 5 friends and I went down for a float trip and party/relaxation weekend, and had a wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. It has 4 spacious bedrooms, each with comfy beds, and linens provided. The one bathroom was quite cute and towels were provided as well. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed (and more). Sam and Nora were wonderful hosts, and stopped by to see if we needed anything, and Nora even helped me to air up my slumping tire before we left on Sunday.
I would definitely stay here again and would also recommend this place to friends. It is just a few short miles to a few different float trip places, so you can rent a raft/canoe at several different places nearby. I'd love to come back with just a couple of people or my spouse and have a more quiet, relaxing weekend in the fall.
Thanks for everything!
My husband and I stayed here with our 4 children over Easter weekend. We wanted to just get away and reconnect with ourselves, each other, and nature. We were able to do that. Sam and Nora have a little piece of heaven that they choose to share with others. We had originally intended to take a float trip, but had so much fun exploring the land around the cottage that the float trip never happened. Maybe next time we will stay longer and check out some of the other things in the area. Or maybe we will just do like we did this time and enjoy being away from it all. The kids were amazed by all of the animals they got to see. There were lizards everywhere! There is a huge creek on the property, goats right across the road, and trails through wooded areas all around. The cottage was beautiful inside and out. Sam and Nora thought of everything. We had everything we needed, even a high chair for the baby. It was a great place for a family vacation and would be a great place for a group of people who wanted to go floating without camping. Thank you Sam and Nora for sharing with us, and Sam for coming down Sunday night to eat with us. We had a wonderful time. . . we'll be seeing you again, soon I hope!
This was our second year staying at this home and we had a great time again! The house was immaculate when we arrived and everything looked great. We enjoyed hiking around the property, feeding the goats, floating on the river, sitting by the fire, grilling, and sleeping in a nice house. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We really like how this house is a short distance from the St. Louis area, is affordable, and is only a short drive away from the canoe rental place. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to have a fun and relaxing weekend.
I booked the cabin for a friends weekend away. The cabin was more than I expected. It was very clean, had everything we needed to cook, great location in the country and was very comfortable. We had enough room for 7 adults and we were all pleased with our stay. The location is close to hiking and the river for float trips, which we took advantage of.
The ease of check-in/check-out was great as well. Sam stopped by to make sure everything was good and we appreciated that.
We are located just 10 miles off Interstate I-44 and just 70 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. Six Flags theme park is within an easy drive. Taste the local grapes at any of the many world famous Missouri wineries located just a few miles 'down the road'. Missouri is called the 'Cave State' and there are several close by to explore! Maybe you yearn to hop on a horse and experience the Missouri Ozarks in this unique way. Trail rides can be arranged locally. Float the local lazy rivers on canoes or rafts. Or hike the many acres of woods and fields on the many trails in the area.
