The ground floor of a refurbished 1900 carriage house with a bedroom nook, full kitchen, full bath, three sofas, baseboard heat, wood stove, A/C, microwave, cable TV, WIFI internet access, lots of light, off-street parking, fully and nicely furnished, light hardwood floors, offbeat colorful decor, etc. etc. Great for one person or couple. Cot available for one child. No pets, no smokers. A short walk to downtown, Skidmore College and a ten minute walk to the race track.

Ideally situated between the six million acre Adirondack Park and the Massachusetts Berkshires, only fifteen miles from the Saratoga Battlefield ('Turning Point of the Revolution'), Saratoga Springs is a jewel of a resort town in upstate New York, famous for its historic thoroughbred racetrack, its walkable and well-preserved downtown, its fine Victorian neighborhoods, health-giving springs, indoor/outdoor performing arts center (summer home of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra), and great good spirit. Restaurants range from laid-back BBQ joints to upmarket French bistros. A bustling farmers market, bike paths, and museums of dance, horse racing, automobiles, city history, and contemporary art.

My wife and I stayed in the carriage house for a week in mid-August. The property was precisely as advertised, immaculate and tastefully remodeled. The grounds, behind the main house, lent privacy with attractive landscaping and views through a bay of front windows of the host's spacious and charming historical home.

Communication was fluid from our reservation in spring through our stay. We walked the attractive town mile to Saratoga Race Course and back for five consecutive days, lunching on Aunt Hattie's fried chicken sandwiches at the track and cooking "in" every night. Downtown was a half mile walk, again entertaining in itself, with a good dozen reliably well-reviewed restaurants. We had a parting lunch at Max London's, pricey and sleek though worthy.

We would recommend this property and Saratoga Springs to anyone.

Just what was promised was delivered. Very clean and great location. Best for no more than two adults, we left feeling we had recieved good dollar value.

Carriage House

My husband and I stayed at the Carriage House in July of 2008 for opening week of the horse races. Great Communication with the owners and no hassles. The carriage house was very well maintained and original character of the house was kept with an updated bathroom and all the amenities that were stated in the write up. The carriage house is rustic and charming, would stay there again. If you are looking for a peaceful atmosphere and a romantic getaway this would an excellent place to stay. The house in front of the carriage house was beautiful and the gardening was incredible.
