Events: July and August are the high season on the Vineyard. This is when the Island population jumps from an off-season low of 15,000 people to its summer peak of more than 80,000 on any sunny weekend. This is when the calendar of Island life fills with attractive choices, from regular events like the Farmers' Market in West Tisbury to the Chilmark Flea Market and the weekly outdoor concerts of the Vineyard Haven Town Band. This is when the Island's surrounding waters become an essential and inviting part of the community's life, whether it's a crowd gathered to applaud the sunset at the beach in Menemsha, a charter fishing trip out of Edgartown Harbor or a sail on a classic tall ship in Vineyard Haven. Many returning summer visitors plan their Martha's Vineyard vacations around a favorite event. For some, it's the Agricultural Fair, for others, the Possible Dreams Auction, or the Portuguese Feast of the Holy Ghost.
Fishing: The fishing on the island of Martha's Vineyard is undoubtedly some of the finest on the entire east coast. Whether fly fishing for striped bass from a shallow draft skiff, or chasing giant tuna and sharks in a 30-foot sport fisher, the Vineyard's vast and varied fishery truly offers something for everybody.
Aboard Black Dog Tall Ships: The Black Dog Tall Ships has been carrying passengers aboard its historically and traditionally accurate schooners since 1964. Blessed with reliable southwesterly trade winds and an abundance of snug harbors, this area is unrivaled in its ability to provide a unique sailing experience never to be forgotten. Our schooners Shenandoah and Alabama possess the ability to sweep you away into another age. Join us for day sails for the kids, sunset sails, charters or book our vessels for corporate and wedding events.

Another lovely week at the vineyard! We missed coming last year, so it looked really beautiful this year. The house looks great! You've put a lot of nice touches! We enjoyed the wine and bought some to bring home. Hope to come back in the year to come. Our 3 kids are slowly growing up in this house. Have a nice winter.
We are a family living in westchester, ny who spend many weeks in Martha's vineyard, the place where we were married in 2000.
We purchased this home in 2006 so we could bring our children to spend lazy summer days on the vineyard beaches. We chose this home because it is in a quiet location but still located directly in the middle of the three down island towns of Edgartown, vineyard haven, and oak bluffs.
