The Irish Rose has become a vacation favorite for guests from all over the world! Just take a look at our guestbook comments below! This mountain cabin is located on the historic Mosquito Gulch Trail. Just 15 miles south of Breckenridge, it is the perfect spot for either a secluded get-away or a ski vacation at a fraction of the cost.

Centered on ten acres of pine and aspen, the Irish Rose was designed to accommodate those who want a true Colorado experience. With Mosquito Creek flowing nearby, you will enjoy spectacular views of Pennsylvania and London Mountains as you relax with family and friends. A seven person hot tub sits out front in the location of an old historic mine if you want to relax and enjoy the view from there!

If summer hiking, biking or four-wheeling is your desire, four of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks are at your doorstep, providing some of the best hiking and driving trails in the world. Tackle the summits of Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, and Mount Lincoln... all in a single day!

Gold pan on the local creeks, explore 'Buckskin Joe' trail, and visit the ghost town of Park City. The historic mining towns of Alma and Fairplay are also nearby. Mountain bike to your heart's content or drive the legendary 4x4 'Mosquito Pass' into Leadville. Pick wildlowers and view wildlife--there's something for everyone!

If winter activities are your goal, the beautiful village of Breckenridge is just a short drive north where you can enjoy premier Colorado skiing, dining, and shopping. Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Copper Mountain are also close. Or, stay near home and cross-country ski to your heart's content. We have it all!

The Irish Rose was built with families in mind. The main level has a great room with a gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful mountains and trees. It is surrounded by a huge 32x8 foot wrap-around deck. A full kitchen and dining area are also on this level to create an open, spacious environment. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

There are two main level bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with bunk beds geared for up to four kids. The great room sofa also pulls out to a queen-size bed. The master bedroom loft has a queen bed, washer and dryer, along with a small private balcony. There are full baths on both the main level and the loft. The cabin also has a lower level with a private entrance in the back which is occupied by 'Mountain Kay', the landlord. Kay has 30+ years of experience in Park and Summit Counties. She is quiet, very knowledgeable on the local area, and can assist with anything you need. She has two old dogs who will go hiking with you if you like!

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the comfort of the 'Irish Rose'. At over 10,000ft elevation, it's as close to heaven as you can get!

The Irish Rose Vacation 2013

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the "Irish Rose" was nothing less than spectacular. The Cabin was well maintained and beautiful, and well equiped with anything you needed. The land that it is on was fun for exploring and hiking or just relaxing by the creek.

The area is centrally located for touring the Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak and Brekenridge, along with other scenic sites.

The people of Alma and Fairplay were friendly and respectful and helpful when looking for directions or information. Our Family would gladly stay at the "Irish Rose" again and again whenever possible.

Thank You for a wonderful place for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.

Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had an outstanding time during our 1-week stay at the cabin. The accommodations were exceptional and the welcome package with lemon poppy seed cake was such a nice touch, and very much appreciated, thanks Kay... The cabin was private, cozy, clean and very well stocked - anything you can think of was on hand including a BBQ, movies, books, every kitchen utensil imaginable and the list goes on and on. The scenery and views were peaceful and tranquil - a Perfect Rocky Mountain Retreat Getaway. We also had recurring visits from a curious fox and the blue birds and other wildlife. The towns of Alma, Fairplay and Breckenridge are all close by and each of them offer a different unique experience with something for everybody. I would highly recommend this for anybody looking to get away and experience the beautiful state of Colorado and all its wonders. Rich A.

Great trip, secluded and peaceful

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Irish Rose! The owners and on-site property manager, Kay, really went out of their way to make us feel warm and welcomed with all the amenities we could need and home-baked goodies! The views were amazing as was the bird watching and their local fox friend who visited frequently. The property was blanketed in snow and beautiful. In addition, the owner went out of his way to take care of us, when just the week beforehand, the bunk beds were in need of replacement unexpectedly and the hot tub needed attention. Drive time to the slopes was easy with no inclement weather. What we really enjoyed was the peace and quiet, views and coziness of the cabin along with family time (we live in Denver and my brother's crew came in from TX). Definitely would recommend! Thanks, Irish Rose.

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Outstanding views of the mountains. Definitely would return for a peaceful getaway. In snowy conditions, took us 30 minutes to get to Breckenridge. Kay was really great, and we loved the treats! We also had really impressive bird watching from the living room and kitchen. One small critique, since the house sleeps 6 adults in beds, I would have preferred that 6 adults could comfortably sit in the living room. With a chair and couch, we were pulling up kitchen chairs or sitting on the floor. Loved the house though!

Slice of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Incredibly prepared and maintained house off the beaten path. Exactly what me and my group were looking for. The view from the living room is incredible...when we first arrived we just stared out the window for a good 10 minutes without saying a thing. One of the cooler things was when we saw a red fox while relaxing in the hot tub. For those who want to get away from it all and recharge, this is it.
