The Irish Rose has become a vacation favorite for guests from all over the world! Just take a look at our guestbook comments below! This mountain cabin is located on the historic Mosquito Gulch Trail. Just 15 miles south of Breckenridge, it is the perfect spot for either a secluded get-away or a ski vacation at a fraction of the cost.

Centered on ten acres of pine and aspen, the Irish Rose was designed to accommodate those who want a true Colorado experience. With Mosquito Creek flowing nearby, you will enjoy spectacular views of Pennsylvania and London Mountains as you relax with family and friends. A seven person hot tub sits out front in the location of an old historic mine if you want to relax and enjoy the view from there!

If summer hiking, biking or four-wheeling is your desire, four of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks are at your doorstep, providing some of the best hiking and driving trails in the world. Tackle the summits of Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, and Mount Lincoln... all in a single day!

Gold pan on the local creeks, explore 'Buckskin Joe' trail, and visit the ghost town of Park City. The historic mining towns of Alma and Fairplay are also nearby. Mountain bike to your heart's content or drive the legendary 4x4 'Mosquito Pass' into Leadville. Pick wildlowers and view wildlife--there's something for everyone!

If winter activities are your goal, the beautiful village of Breckenridge is just a short drive north where you can enjoy premier Colorado skiing, dining, and shopping. Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Copper Mountain are also close. Or, stay near home and cross-country ski to your heart's content. We have it all!

The Irish Rose was built with families in mind. The main level has a great room with a gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful mountains and trees. It is surrounded by a huge 32x8 foot wrap-around deck. A full kitchen and dining area are also on this level to create an open, spacious environment. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

There are two main level bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with bunk beds geared for up to four kids. The great room sofa also pulls out to a queen-size bed. The master bedroom loft has a queen bed, washer and dryer, along with a small private balcony. There are full baths on both the main level and the loft. The cabin also has a lower level with a private entrance in the back which is occupied by 'Mountain Kay', the landlord. Kay has 30+ years of experience in Park and Summit Counties. She is quiet, very knowledgeable on the local area, and can assist with anything you need. She has two old dogs who will go hiking with you if you like!

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the comfort of the 'Irish Rose'. At over 10,000ft elevation, it's as close to heaven as you can get!

Just a military family that has long ties to Colorado and loves the mountains! We are very blessed to have a property we can share with others.

Rich purchased this cabin in 2002

Pure Colorado. The property feels secluded but still close to civilization!

Summer is our busiest season! Hiking, mountain biking, exploring, gold panning, fishing, four-wheeling, etc make it an awesome summer getaway! Great base also for skiing and winter activities. You won't be disapointed!

THE IRISH ROSE VACATION 2013

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the "Irish Rose" was nothing less than spectacular. The Cabin was well maintained and beautiful, and well equiped with anything you needed. The land that it is on was fun for exploring and hiking or just relaxing by the creek.
The area is centrally located for touring the Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak and Brekenridge, along with other scenic sites.
The people of Alma and Fairplay were friendly and respectful and helpful when looking for directions or information. Our Family would gladly stay at the "Irish Rose" again and again whenever possible.
Thank You for a wonderful place for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.
Buddy and Sharmon and family

UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

  • 5 of 5
You will not regret a single moment spent at this cabin! At almost 11,000 feet, it sits nestled in a heavenly area of Park County overlooked by the Mosquito Range. I've been to Colorado before, but never been to Colorado like THIS! My husband had never been to Colorado and this was exactly the experience I wanted him to have. No sirens, no planes, no city lights -- just the sound of the brook and the wind coming down the mountains. The trails on the property are spectacular and will give you some phenomenal views of the mountains. This place will make you want to never go home. The cabin itself is gorgeous. It was everything we could have wanted and more. If you are looking for some beautiful mountain views or looking for great hiking, check out Kite Lake in nearby Alma. It's a rocky 6 mile drive up into the valley of Mt. Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron, and Bross. If you start early you can knock out 4 14ers in a day. Even if you don't make it all the way to the summits, some unbelievable views await you. Kay is a wonderfully helpful lady and a bit of a local celebrity in Alma. We loved having her dogs around, too! We will definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY be back soon. Thank you for an unforgettable experience in the Rockies!
(Note: The dirt roads to the cabin and to Kite Lake are particularly rough! Yes, you can do it with a 2 wheel drive car or van, but I STRONGLY recommend a 4 wheel drive or an all-wheel drive car. We rented a town and country and we really put the country part to the test!)

SLICE OF HEAVEN

  • 5 of 5
Rich,
Our hats are off to you and landlord Kay. Our stay (9 of us) for June 16 -19 was absolutely fabulous. The Irish Rose was everything as described and more. My whole family (picky) was delighted to say the least. I was extra pleased to see there was plenty of everything needed to have a good visit. If you want a cabin in the mountains, with seclusion, this is the place. My family and I could not have done better.
Thanks Again,
Larry G and Family

HONEYMOON GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
My heavens, where to begin?! We married on a Saturday and flew out Monday morning from Louisiana to see beautiful Colorado...never imagined to be in such a beautiful cabin, such as The Irish Rose, in Alma! Ms. Kay greeted us at the door with a smile and gave some AMAZING advice on purchasing ski clothes and where to actually enjoy some action on the slopes. We spent one day in Breckenridge skiing and boarding, but it was that night, back at the cabin, in the hot tub that was ah-mazing - soaking (as we were not prepared for just how much of a workout "playing in the snow" would be, looking up into the clear night ski and seeing nothing but stars...one.with.nature. The last night of our stay was interesting...snow storm that blew in 6-9 inches of snow. We, being from LA, had no idea how to handle and had a minor freak-out moment, but we called down to Ms. Kay asking for advice and she calmed us down. That next morning, at 6am, we began to load up the car (had a flight out of Denver at noon) and there was Ms. Kay...she had already scraped the ice off our car, shoveled a path for us to walk TO the car, as well as made a path to the road. MS. KAY IS BEYOND AMAZING! We made it to the airport with a couple hours to spare (usually takes 2 hrs max)...never would have made it at all without the help of Ms. Kay...seriously cannot thank her enough! Upon our arrival back in Louisiana, we have spread the word about this gorgeous cabin (which literally has EVERYTHING you need with the exception of food and beverage). We will most certainly come back to visit Ms. Kay and relax in the beautiful scenic area surrounding The Irish Rose!! **memories made**

GREAT WINTER GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5
We vacationed here at the Irish Rose for a quick weekend get away. It was a lovely place to stay. Plenty of room and it was very nicely maintained. The property was large and we were able to do snowshoeing on the property. The views are great, the snow was nice and deep. We had all the comforts of home. I can't wait to come back for a visit in the summer!

QUIET AND COMFORTABLE!

  • 4 of 5
My family stayed at the Irish Rose over Spring Break and had a wonderful experience. There were 6 of us and the accommodations were comfortable for that size group. The home was clean, stocked, and easy to find. We enjoyed the secluded setting and watched several foxes each evening out the back door. It was a bit further to Breck than we anticipated (30 minute drive), but it allowed us to talk about our day and unwind after a long day on the slopes. Thanks to the homeowners and Ms. Kay for new family memories.
