Overview

San Luis Pass House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

Picture your dream beach house retreat: A welcoming traditional design with a wide front porch tucked under the roof. A swing and a hammock for leisurely watching the surf & boat fishermen, birds and porpoises, and a view that extends forever – this is why we come to the beach.

Our 2-story home sits high on a large corner lot with water views from every window. The furnishings are comfortable and casual. On the first floor are the Dining and Living Room (with HDTV), Kitchen, Master Bedroom and Bathroom, Laundry and Half-Bath all done in tropical prints.

The Master Bedroom has a large picture window to the water and French doors to the porch. The Master Bathroom has double sinks, a Whirlpool Tub and separate shower.

At the top of the stairs to the second floor, is a landing that splits off to the other two Bedrooms and a Full Bath. To the left is the Aquarium room. Aqua-green walls adorned with a swarm of tropical fish surround a king bed, a twin bed, and a cozy reading nook. This colorful room is a favorite of everyone – until they go across the hall to the Lighthouse room. The main feature in this large bedroom is a queen bed, at floor level, tucked into a private little alcove with its own porthole window to the water. It’s the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. Another queen and a twin bed complete the sleeping accommodations for this unique bedroom.

Treasure Island at San Luis Pass is a birding, fishing, and shelling paradise. Nowhere else can you find such a variety of activities to please everyone. After a fun day in Galveston at Schlitterbahn or Moody Gardens, spend the evening on the porch watching the sunset. Or, surf-fish and walk back to clean your catch at our private fish cleaning station. Mornings are the best time to walk along the miles of remote beaches while watching flocks of Pelicans and Roseate Spoonbills and collecting the best shells on the Texas coast. You can also rent a kayak, schedule a wildlife tour, or hire a guide for bay or offshore fishing.

About Carol Duncan

On one of our first dates, Bill took me to Galveston to show me the lot he had just purchased. Shortly thereafter, he built his first beach house. A few months later, we married in Las Vegas and spent our honeymoon in that little beach house. That was over twenty years ago. We've had three more beach houses since then, and each one a little closer to the water.

It's a wonderful place for creating lasting memories with our families, especially our grandchildren. When people ask us if we are afraid our home will be destroyed by a hurricane, I tell them 'It (a hurricane) could take our home, but not our memories.'

The lure of the water, sand and salt air has an emotional pull just as strong as those hurricane force winds.

Carol Duncan purchased this house in 2006

Why Carol Duncan chose San Luis Pass

San Luis Pass was our purchase choice because it is such a draw for nature lovers. It is remote with wide beaches, and a varied and abundant bird population. Also, this area has some of the best fishing along the Texas coast.

We have been in the resort rental business for 10 years, and this is our 7th rental season in this home. As realtors, we understand the importance of 'selling' a home to the public. Although this home sells itself, we insist on a high level of maintenance perfection. I promise you will not be disappointed.

What makes this house unique

While sitting on the porch, we can see porpoise feeding just a few yards out in front of our home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Fitzsimmons from New Braunfels, Texas sent this letter after their May '08 weekend.

"Thank you again for providing such a wonderful getaway experience for my family.... Everyone was so pleased and had nice things to say the entire time we were there. From the lovely home to the more personal touches like Q-Tips and a variety of cooking spices. We were made to feel comfortable and welcome from the moment we stepped through the door! P.S. We will be back."

Felt like home!

  • 5 of 5
We absolutely loved staying at the beach house, which is very clean and beautiful! The weather was perfect everyday. We went over to Galveston, to eat at Casey's and shop at the strand, but our most favorite thing to do was sit on the covered porch of the house. There was always a breeze blowing, and we sat out there most of our time. The porch was also great for our 10 month old. The beach house had everything a person would need; all anyone would need to bring would be their personal items! Another plus is the beach right there. At most, there was one other family using it when we were out there, so it was like having our own private beach! (There are even sand dollars on this beach!) This was truly our home "away by the sea" for a week! We would definitely recommend this house, and would live there if we could! :)

Clean, Wonderful, Great Location, Very Comfortable

  • 5 of 5
Clean, clean and exactly as nice as it looks in the photos. Very well maintained. Furnished with everything you need for a relaxing Gulf Coast beach getaway. We stayed here 3 nights, a total of 9 family members, young and old, and a very clean (including beds and bathrooms) home was what we wanted--this beautiful home delivers. All we needed to bring was basically ourselves and the food we would be eating--absolutely everything else we needed was already in the home, including plenty of towels.

This is a great location, a very quiet beachside community near fishing and crabbing (San Luis Pass Park, a Brazoria County Park, is right across the roadway, plus you can wade fish at the beach). The adjacent beach in this community is just about a private beach.

We highly recommend staying at this beach home. The owners are very caring and conscientious, and the wonderful condition of this beautifully furnished home reflect that. The view, day and night, from the generous porch is so beautiful, and it was so nice to sit out in the fabulous sea breeze and relax with family.

This home is within 15-20 minutes of Galveston, so you can shop at The Strand area, eat out, etc. We made a Saturday morning shopping trip to Texas City, to the I-45 outlet mall and the brand new Buc-ee's (huge! a must-see!) which is next to the outlet mall.

My family is still talking about our beach home getaway--they had a great time. Had this home not been so beautiful, so clean, and located in such a wonderful, quiet, exclusive-feeling area, it just would not have been such a successful family gathering.

Well-stocked and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5
This house was more like a home than a typical rental. The moment we stepped in the door, we felt like we were home. The house has everything you could possibly need and more. We brought our 1 year old and there were so many things for him in the house that we needed. From the highchair, to a wagon, to the bib and spoon. There was even an assortment of baby toys for him to play with! Our older children loved staying in the aquarium room and my sister enjoyed the porthole from her bed in the lighthouse room. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. And there are TONS of beach towels! Do NOT bring your own towels! You will not need them. They had all of the channels on dish network, so none of my children were upset that they were missing their favorite tv shows when we weren't at the beach. The views are stunning from the porch. Just be aware that the actual beach access is about a block away. We were also a very short distance from places to launch our kayaks, wade fishing, and pier fishing. We took advantage of all of that. We loved it and will never stay in a different house when we visit San Luis Pass.

One of the Nicest Beach Homes We've Rented

One of the Nicest Beach Homes We've Rented
  • 5 of 5
The house was wonderful, nice furnishings, well laid out and very well stocked. We could tell that the owners put a lot of thought into what their guests might require. There is a nice view of the surf, however, we found the beach a mile or so down the road to be better than the beach in the neighborhood. The owners are top notch. We had an issue with the air conditioning and when notified, they were very concerned and had an A/C tech there within 30 minutes. We couldn't ask for a better response. You will definitely enjoy any time spent here.

Frisco lady

  • 5 of 5
Thank you Carol and Bill for providing so many amenities in your beach house. It had everything we needed, from buggy boards for the older boys and the wagon and sand toys for the babies. The house was very clean and attractive. All of us enjoyed the entire stay. I cannot think of anything else you could do to make a persons vacation more enjoyable. I hope to stay there again next summer.

Map

Car: necessary

Treasure Island is across the San Luis Pass from the west end of Galveston. We are located on the bend where the Gulf of Mexico goes through the Pass into Galveston West Bay. It is an awesome sight! This is a bird and fishing paradise. Miles of remote wide beaches and the best shells on the Texas coast. Just 20 minutes into historic Galveston for Schlitterbahn, Moody Gardens, fabulous restaurants, historic Victorian homes, the 1895 Grand Opera House and much, much more.

Standing on the porch of our home you can also see Cold Pass, which links San Luis Pass to Christmas Bay. SLP will also take you to West Bay. These premier fishing areas are ideally suited for wade and drift fishing. Surf fishing is very popular in the neighborhood along the beach at the end of Jolly Roger and in front of our home. Walk back to the house with your catch and clean it at our private fish cleaning station. Deep sea expeditions can be taken out of Surfside.

Other Activities: Kayaking, Visit historical Galveston with Moody Gardens, the Pleasure Pier, and Schlitterbahn Water Park.
