Our villa 'La Lavande' sits on the edge of the unspoilt village of Soubes, which nestles in the foothills of the Cevennes 45 minutes from Montpellier and the coast.

With 3/4 bedrooms, open-plan living area and extensive garden and fenced pool (8M x4M) it is an ideal location for a peaceful family holiday. There is an open log fire provide additional comfort for out of season holidays, as the area is ideal for trekking and cycling.

There are many beautiful walks, and a riverside path leads to the village with its small shop and friendly cafe/restaurant.

The medieval town of Lodeve is 6km away with market, shops and restaurants.

3 Golf Courses nearby, closest at Beziers, then Cap d'Agde and Fontcaude.

Water sports are available at the Lac de Salagou with bathing or canoeing on the nearby Herault River. Try wine tasting at the numerous local vineyards. Alternatively, sit and relax in the sun by the pool or read a book in the shade of the garden and enjoy the stunning views.

Soubes is a pretty village in the wine growing region of Languedoc Rousillon where narrow sreets with flower laden balconies lead to a shady square with cafe/restaurant and small supermarket. There are mountain views all around and the ancient market town of Lodeve is only 6 km away. Many beautiful walks including a botanical mountain path are all close by and stunning scenery including the dramatic Cirque de Navacelle where you can bathe in rock pools of crystal clear water from the mountains is only a short drive away. Montpellier and the Mediterranean coast is only 45 minutes by car with golf courses and several good beaches and numerous seafood restaurants. The whole area is studded with sleepy villages set in lovely scenery.

Other Activities: pedalos on Lac de Salagou, wine tasting in local vineyard (1km)

Small Christmas market in Soubes village usually the first weekend in December.

  • Notes to the rental rates:

    During the low season weeks there is some flexibility with the change over day. i.e. depending on current occupancy it may be possible to start a week on a Wednesday, Friday or Sunday which fits in better with EasyJet flights from Gatwick to Montpelllier. Where appropriate also during Low Season weeks, we can offer shorter stays (minimum 3 nights) from £80.00 per night.
    The villa can also be rented for a long week-end or short week.
    For a long stay out of season we are happy to negotiate rates.
  • Pool open from May to end of September.
  • Additional charges:

    A fuel surcharge of £8.00 per night will be added to winter lets to cover the cost of heating and logs October - end of April.
    Charge for final clean is £50.00

Notes: There is an additional studio/reception room, located between the main living area and the main double bedroom with an extra double sofa bed. There is also a foldaway bed in the twin bedroom, suitable for a third child in that room. There is a TV with DVD player. Linen and towels are provided, however there is a surcharge of £20.00 a head for numbers over 7. The pool is now fenced to comply with French regulations and greater safety. All weather table tennis table and fixed outdoor barbecue permanently available in garden. For outdoor dining there is an 8 seater table and chairs, plus a smaller table on the balcony which seats 4. There is now a Boule Court available.

This villa was wonderful. It was clean both inside the property and in the surrounding grounds. The gardens and pool are well kept too. There is plenty to do in the area e.g. canoeing, pedalo, walking, it is easy to reach by air/hire car or if you are driving and it is also handily located - 10-15 mins walk from Soubes where there is a friendly restaurant and a boulangerie. We would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax or have an active holiday with the fmily or their friends.

We had a fantastic holiday at this villa, it was very well presented,clean and had a beautiful pool which we used to the full. We stayed with another family but felt there was plenty of space. The children loved the table tennis while we very much enjoyed charming walk down every morning to the local village of Soubes(very pretty) to get our fresh croissants for breakfast.

The beds were very comfortable and it was very peaceful, perfect for a good nights sleep. Nothing more is needed than a good book and a glass of wine while enjoying the view over the valley.

On the trip down it was great to stop and admire the Millau Viaduct and the trip to the clear waterfalls of Cirque de Navacelles is a must.

I would certainly say this villa offers excellent value for money.

Tranquil heaven overlooking peaceful countyside

What a fantastic place! It provides exactly what is says on the tin and we were never disappointed having been there three times already and due to go again this year.
Whatever your mood or the weather may require this villa caters extremely well for all your everyday needs and then a bit more. The housekeeper is a West Country couple just down the road and very helpful and knowledgeable. Shopping at the hypermarket in nearby Lodève is very convenient and easy (free parking) with market days on Saturdays and Tuesdays during the summer season. Montpellier has a market every day except Saturday. Interesting places to visit are too numerous to list here, it all depends what you are looking for: a chic seaside at La Grande Motte or yachting at St. Cyprien, Roman architecture at Nîmes or the Cathar heritage in Minerve and elsewhere. A food and drinks trail might lead you from Roquefort where they make wonderful cheese to Marseillan where they make delicious Noilly Prat.
Would I recommend this villa? Definitely!

A wonderful peaceful place to stay

This villa is centrally situated for visits to nearby Gorges du Tarn, Millau Vaiduct, Les Causses and Roquefort caves, the Camargue and the Cevennes mountains. The house itself is peacefully located, yet not far from civilisation and main roads.
Extremely well-equipped and clean, with plenty of entertainment for younger children and adults alike. We especially enjoyed the garden and the wildlife - various species of birds and the occasional visit from a squirrel.
A great place to get away from it all and enjoy peace and quiet.
Good communication with the owners. We hope to return one day.

Beautiful, relaxing villa

The property was clean, comfortable and very well presented. It is in a beautiful setting, peaceful and secluded yet not far from supermarkets and other amenities.
The pool was lovely and there are lots of outside areas for sitting and enjoying the environment.
There are lots of lovely walks, straight from the front door! The property is situated in an area of outstanding beauty and we enjoyed a lovely trip to the cirque de navacelles.
I would thoroughly recommend the property. We enjoyed it so much we are going back again this year!
