Convenient, clean oasis
Our group of five seniors (ages 60 – 70) stayed in the apartment on Via Palazzuolo for a week in early May 2012. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Although it is a two bedroom apartment, it was easy to assign the living room with the comfortable sofa bed as a third bedroom. The dining area became out central living room.
The kitchen was comfortable for two people to be working together. Full sized refrigerator, freezer and all the necessary equipment for cooking, including olive oil, balsamic vinegar and spices. We did learn that using the oven meant no other electrical appliances could be used without the breakers going off. That was an easy adjustment and fixing the breakers was a simple fix. We enjoyed some delicious Italian meals after shopping at the local butcher shop, bakery and Conad grocery story.
The major benefit of this apartment is the convenience. It is an easy walk from the train station (3 blocks), Hertz rental (1 block), cafes (1 block), and corner grocery (1 block). The Central Market and a larger Conad grocery store are an easy 5 to 10 minute walk away. Walking to the Duomo, Accademia, Uffizi, Santa Croce and the many sites along the way made our visit to Florence memorable and enjoyable.
Added to the tourist convenience was having a washer and an electrical clothes rack which helped us to catch up on laundry during our stay.
Tip: When leaving the train station walk Via S. Catherine in front of the Deanna Bar Terra Caffe.
We all fell in love with Florence and one day we’d like to visit again. Hopefully we can return to ‘our’ apartment oasis in Florence. At the end of each day we felt like we were returning home. It was lovely.
