Harbors End cottage is located in Southwest Harbor on the 'Quiet Side' of Mt. Desert Island directly across the street from the harbor. This charming, sunny 900 sq. feet, 2 story, 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath house was refurbished in 2006. Less than a mile from town and within walking distance of restaurants, shops, art galleries, bicycle and kayak rentals, A short drive to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Seal Cove, Pretty Marsh, Tremont and the Swan's Island Ferry. We have all the amenities you need: 2 brand new pillow top full-size beds, pillows, premium linens, towels, washer/dryer, iron, large full bath downstairs with stall shower, small bathroom upstairs with toilet and tub, microwave, electric stove, oven, full size refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, gas barbecue grill, picnic table, telephone (local calls only), cable TV, DVD player, and CD player/stereo. Further details for this vacation cottage rental in Southwest Harbor, Maine

Payment: We take checks and money orders. When we receive your deposit check, we will block off the dates requested (although if you call or email and confirm a certain week, we will keep it open even before check is received); balance is due, under most circumstances, 21 days prior to arrival date. Rentals are Saturday to Saturday. Deposits will be returned as soon as we are advised by the local manager that the cottage is in good shape. Check in 3:00 pm Saturday, Check out 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

Regular rules of the house: All linens and towels are provided and they are of good quality. Please ensure that the cottage is left in the same condition you found it or a $75 maid service fee will be paid out of your deposit. We expect all linens to be washed and dried and left folded on the bed. Towels can be washed and left in the utility room or put back on the shelf. An optional $25 laundry service is available upon request. Deposits will be returned as soon as we are advised by the local manager that the cottage is in good shape. Please, accidents happen and if something is broken, please let us know immediately.

Additionally: No one under the age of 21 is allowed to rent without a parent on the premises. Although we want everyone to enjoy themselves, everyone sleeps with windows open in the summer and loud music or parties after a sensible time are not appreciated. We have a local manager who will be stopping by as well as kind and helpful neighbors who we respect and vice versa. We hope you enjoy yourselves and come back again.

A Wonderful Retreat

A very comfortable home with wonderful beds and a central location for exploring Mt. Desert Island without being in the midst of the crowds. Excellent restaurants are close by, and you will enjoy a restful experience. My wife and I highly recommend this house and location.

Perfect Home away from Home

The house is a cottage. quite small but oh, how we loved it. It is a older home with the great charm. Perfect for a family of 4. Or 2 couples as we were. Having a washer and dryer there makes it so much easier. Don't have to have pack so much. Just wish the trees were cut down to see the beautiful harbor just across the street. The small town of Southwest Harbor is a bustling place. Nice to see. They call it the quiet side for a good reason. Ideal spot to relax. Bar Harbor is near by. The owners are great to work with. Recommend Oli's Trolley in Bar Harbor. Great way to see Arcadia National Park. Don't forget the great ice cream available in Bar Harbor. (all over Mt. Desert Island)

The Perfect Getaway

Shortly after arriving in the cozy Harbor's End cottage we felt right at home and began planning our Mount Desert Island adventure. Everything we needed was there for us – comfortable couch and chairs, stereo, TV (which we didn't even turn on), cozy beds and a fully equipped kitchen – even maps and brochures detailing the region. This is the perfect "home base" to explore MDI – take a short walk into Southwest Harbor and experience the local charm in small cafés and restaurants, bike to nearby parks and seaside villages or hop in the car for the spectacular Acadia National Park or the more "hectic" Bar Harbor. The owners were very pleasant to deal with and were helpful with our arrangements. We're already talking about coming back.

A charming place to stay

Harbor's End was perfectly located for exploring the quiet side of MDI and as a base for launching explorations further afield. The kitchen was well-equipped, and we ate most of our meals "at home." The beds were comfy (if a little soft for our tastes), the yard was nice, the couch was cozy, and the place had all the amenities we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely Rental in a Great Town

Harbor's End Cottage was perfect for our family. It is a bright, cheerful, and well-appointed cottage. Flowers surround the house on two sides, so the views inside and out are lovely. The beds and bedding are really comfortable and were much appreciated after a day of hiking or biking. The laundry room is so convenient for doing laundry and storing bikes or coolers. We dined out each night (usually at one of the top-notch restaurants in Southwest Harbor) but found the kitchen is so well-stocked that we debated cooking in, and easily made breakfast each day. The location is very convenient to all that Mount Desert Island offers. There wasn't a thing that we were missing or wished we had while staying at Harbor's End. The owners are helpful, friendly, accessible, and provided accurate information about the house and surroundings. Thanks!
