My wife Dawn and I started coming to Grand Cayman in 2000 to scuba dive with our 2 children. We fell in love with the gentle people, perfect climate, and beautiful unspoiled sea. We finally purchased a piece of this paradise in 2010. It is a dream come true. Our cottage is one of 16 that were built as a dive resort in the 1960s on what was the very remote north shore. It has miraculously survived all the developers and is continuously preserved and improved by the very passionate individual owners. There is nothing like it left on Grand Cayman. We love to share it with our guests and receive lots of very positive reviews. We are blessed to have a local Caymanian couple, Miss Barbara and her husband Linsford care for our cottage and guests. They are like family to us! Contact us anytime. We love to discuss this very special place with anyone interested!
Brian or Dawn Steeland purchased this condo in 2010
I just wanted to drop you a note to say that we so loved visiting Cayman and your beautiful condo on the sea last week. The boys and I are still floating along in a half dream state from our time in paradise. Your space was exactly perfect for us with the pull out sofa for the boys, the fully equipped kitchen, all the fun DVDs, RUMMIKUB!, and the wonderful porch for dining.
We took your advice and snorkeled twice a day, visited Stingray City, walked the beach, ate out and I even got to drop a Travel Bug at one of the geocaches nearby that we picked up in Utah that "wanted to travel the world".
LOVED the beach parties at Kaibo and Rum Point. In fact we spent quite some time out at Rum Point drinking frozen concoctions, enjoying a casual lunch, swimming, playing volleyball, reading on the beach and shopping at the gift shop.
But far and away the most magnificence was spent snorkeling. The rays were incredible, the starfish out past Kaibo were a treat, and I got to log that I saw a shark right out front!, a Moray Eel and Scorpion Fish out at Coral Gardens, a lion fish about 10 feet from your shore that seems to be lodging there since it was in the same spot the three times I looked, a barracuda, and more blue heads, jacks, grunts, butterfly fish, angelfish, tile fish, needle fish, basslets, snappers, tang, parrot fish, and squirrel fish than I can possibly count. Absolutely mind bending.
So, a huge thank you for opening up your property to us and being so accommodating to my dad and the rest of us.
This is a well maintained, nicely furnished one bedroom unit. You can see the ocean from the living area, porch and the bedroom. Very quite and peaceful just the place to relax. Internet worked great and with the sea breeze you really don't need air conditioning. We will be back!
We had a wonderful time in this cottage. The location was perfect, the beach was amazing, overall a A++ trip. If you're looking to stay away from the crowds, this is the place to go. We had the beach to ourselves most days.
My husband and i spent a wonderful week in this cabin in Sea Lodges. Everything was perfect: the cleanliness of the place, the furniture, the accessories for the kitchen, towels and sheets were top qualiity,.. and the beach ... the beach was a dream !
The property's area is very quiet and special to relax and rest. The sea is beautiful, full of fish to enjoy a fantastic snorkeling. It Has everything you need for a perfect vacation : palapas, lounge chairs and beach towels, movies in DVD and good selection of books , and an island that is the best I have seen of the Caribbean!
My stay at Dawn and Brian’s Sea Lodge was hands down one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on! This was my first time in Grand Cayman, and I couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable place to stay. There is nothing quite like waking up to the sunrise over the ocean and smelling that great sea breeze. The Sea Lodge itself was extremely clean and comfortable, and had every amenity I could have needed.
In addition to this being my first trip to Grand Cayman, it was also my first time snorkeling. I went snorkeling on the first day I arrived, and after that I was hooked. The variety of fish species and number of fish living in the reef in front of the Sea Lodges is amazing. I was able to see string rays, blue tangs, puffer fish, parrotfish, trumpet fish, and angelfish – truly incredible. I could have spent the whole vacation snorkeling.
For the small portion of time where I wasn’t swimming or relaxing on the beach, I enjoyed walking down to Rum Point, eating at Over the Edge, Kaibo, and going on a bioluminescent night kayak tour.
Thanks Brian and Dawn for a great stay!
This was our second visit to Brian and Dawn’s Sea Lodge which has convinced us that we have found our perfect place in the sun. The sea here is so incredibly beautiful whether you are in or out. Every morning we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise and soft ocean breezes. In the evenings the moon and stars viewed from the lanai make you want to stay forever. We made many meals in; the well-equipped kitchen and outside grill provided everything we needed to prepare salads and sandwiches to gourmet salmon, snapper and filet mignon. If you don’t feel like cooking, Rum Point, Kaibo and Over the Edge (all recommended by the owners and very close) did not disappoint. However it's difficult to leave the views and comfort of your own perfectly lovely cottage. The days passed blissfully as we read, walked, swam, snorkeled, ate, drank, took an occasional nap (ok, most days) and just enjoyed every minute of our respite from the cold. Next year, God willing, we plan to stay for two weeks. Working up to a month. Thank you Brian and Dawn for sharing your lovely place, for all the timely correspondence and the great recommendations.
* Great layout & nicely updated
* Comfortable furniture & mattress
* Wifi worked without a hitch
* Remote location -- easy to get to but not crowded at all
* One of the best "natural" beaches we saw on the island
* Great snorkeling!
* Nothing major
* This was the perfect spot for a low-key, relaxing vacation.
* We really enjoyed eating at "Over the Edge" (per the owners' recommendation) -- great food at very good island prices, and less than a 10 minute drive from the sea lodge.
* Rum Point had a nice little beach and shallow, calm ocean swimming area that would be great for small children.
* We were concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but were very comfortable at the sea lodge with the shutters open and ceiling fans running.
Located on the north side of Grand Cayman Island -- far from the crowds -- in the peaceful residential area of Cayman Kai amidst beautiful large homes on either side at a distance, we are near Rum Point (1/4 mile walk down the beach) with its beach bar, daily BBQ lunch specials, hammocks on the beach, music, hair braiding, a resident parrot, picnic tables, swimming and gift shop...and this is for after you tire of being on our large perfect private white sand beach outside your back door.
