WOW! Great house!

This house far exceeded my expectations. We had a group of friends and kids (16 in all) who all want to get together for a sort of reunion. The house was large and roomy with lots of light. The pool table and movie theater (big comfy chairs and giant screen) were great when it was raining or for helping to entertain the kids (and even us adults after the kids were in bed). There were plenty of rooms with comfortable king size beds for the adults (no one had to fight over a room or bed!) and the bunk beds were great for the kids.

WiFi was a great welcomed feature. Something you wouldn't expect. The extra large dining table was awesome as we had many fun filled meals altogether at one table!

Everything was very clean and felt like a real home. I can't wait to rent this place again in the winter and have fires going when coming back from skiing. Only down side will be BBQing in the cold, but hey I'm not the one out there lol.

I don't understand the one review where they were disappointed. I didn't experience any of those issues at all. The owner was very accommodating with all my questions and emails. He was very efficient with sending the directions and "check-in" information as well as giving us tidbits on things to do up there.

Over all Good time

The first thing I will say is that this house, despite the directions, was hard to find. We arrived at night as we left from DC after work and it was raining pretty hard so that didn't help but the streets are very dark and it's hard to see the house numbers. Once we got into the house it was a huuuge house and we were impressed. I read some of the other reviews and I would have to agree that some of the furniture was dated. One of the chairs in the basement was broken and was turned upside down (I guess to alert us that it was broken and not to sit in it?!?). But we really enjoyed the big t.v. in the basement (would have enjoyed it more if the chairs reclined lol). We also had lots of fun on the pool table (although the balls kept getting stuck in the pockets). Since it rained all of Friday and all of Saturday we had to cancel our skydiving plans but we were able to go paintballing on Sunday. There really aren't any close stores around either, we had to drive about 20-30 minutes to the Walmart but it was a beautiful drive with all of the fall colours out. Also the loft bathroom was not that clean when we arrived...oh and the grill was in desperate need of a good cleaning too but we just put some foil paper down on it and cooked our burgers etc. in the rain :P. Overall, I think for the price we really enjoyed the house, it was very accomodating to the size of our group, the TV was great for us since it rained and we ended up staying in (we hooked up our game systems etc) and the only thing really missing was a hot tub, a closer store (which I know you can't do anything about), and more comftorable chairs in the basement...but I would recommend this house for large groups.

Owner's Response: Once again a GREAT review! Our community is remote with no street lights or sidewalks. It is the mountains right. the community street signs are 4 foot high and wood so in the rain it can be impossible to read them. GPS doesn't do a good job either unfortunately. But if there is no rain, making visibility difficult, you will find us easy enough.
In our welcome packet we provide directions to some local stores. there is a supermarket about 5 miles away. I sure hope this group wasn't going to Wal-mart for groceries, they only needed to go 5 minutes up the road. :-/
Our living room is all newer leather furniture. Our beds are new. Our dining table and chairs are new. As I stated in an earlier response, some of the furniture, is not old just... let's say...formal colonial maybe? if that is a style. Very comfortable and well built. See the pics. All the furniture is shown in the pictures. So there should be no surprises.
Our grill cleaning is our left to our guests. The prior guests should have taken care of this and our inspection company missed it. This group never should have found the grill or the loft bath in poor condition. Our cleaning company will hear about this. it is a big house and must have been overlooked. but this is the EXCEPTION!!!! not the rule.

50th Anniversary Celebration Inverness, Florida

How do you please everyone? Rent this amazing house!!!! We had a total of 14 people celebrating my parent's 50th anniversary for a whole week and none of us wanted to leave at the end of our stay. It was absolutely perfect!!!!

The location was a short distance from every where it seemed like. The large table was such a nice treat for everyone to eat together. The kitchen had every utensil you could possibly need and the 2 coffee pots made the mornings a joy!!!

There were plenty of beds and bathrooms and we never seemed to be in the way of each other. The downstairs, we referred to as the "man cave," was my brother-in-laws home for the entire weekend. He was amazed at the space and thanked me over and over for finding it. And believe me, he is not easy to please. The boys enjoyed the huge TV and wifi to watch football all weekend and keep up with their fantasy football teams. And when they need a break, they just walked over to the pool table and shot a game. We never heard a thing upstairs where the rest of us visited.

There was a grocery store close and we anticipated eating out more than we actually did because the kitchen was so user friendly and had enough dinnerware and silverware for everyone. The neighborhood had deer and turkey roaming around like they were your neighbors. We actually saw a skunk at night but he was harmless!!!

We chose this house because we wanted to experience the fall foliage because we are from Florida and pretty much see green year around!!! The colors were amazing and we actually received an added bonus with a taste of winter when about 6 inches of snow fell!!! Some of kids had never seen snow so you can imagine the snowmen that were built and the snowballs thrown!!! I was wondering why there was a snow shovel on the side of the house, believe me it got used.

NYC was only 2 hours and we spent 2 days in the city!!! Another first for several members of the family!!1

We met Michael and he seems to be a great guy, very accommodating, we were struggling working the gas fireplace, imagine that being from Florida!!! I would definitely recommend this place and I would love to go back during the winter season to ski. Several ski slopes extremely close to the house.

After reading the great reviews, I had high expectations of the lake house we stayed in. When we arrived, my hopes plummeted. Firstly, the furniture was a little out dated and in mediocre condition. The seats in the TV room located downstairs didn't match and had rips in them. The bathrooms were in poor condition and weren't 100% clean. When I used the tub it would quickly get clogged. The thermastat in the basement wasn't working. The basement was freezing! Regardless of how high we would adjust the temperature it wouldn't get any warmer. I would raise the temperature to 75 degrees and the temperature wouldn't change. It would be very uncomfortable to sleep at night. On top of the poor experience we had, the owner never sent me the directions to the house. He specifically said he would send it 2 hours later when I called in the morning the day we left. So I had to rely on the less reliable Google Maps. It was very frustrating. The ONLY aspect I enjoyed about the house was the large wooden deck. I wouldn't come back to this house again.

I will address all the comments made but want to stress that anyone who rents our home need only to call if they have an issue and we will come running. We want you happy!
Our home is only 2 years young and most of the furniture was purchased new. (the family room, the dining table, the bedding).
My father in law works for the Ritz Carlton and we were able to purchase some items through them. Our loft furniture, theater chairs and dressers ( shown in the photos section) were purchased this way. The quality is outstanding and built for comfort. The style and patterns are a bit upscale as they would normally be used in the Ritz Carlton lobby. They have a colonial look and our guest misinterpreted that for outdated or old.
The bathrooms are only 2 years old so I do not see how they can be in poor condition. I wish she would have called about the cleanliness so I could have had our cleaning team return and do a better job. As for the slow moving tub, we had all our tubs drains snaked and cleaned of hair and debris and they are running smooth. This is something we normally do IN THE OFF-SEASON. During the peak summer season, we only have 3 hrs between rentals, so it is hard to check every aspect of our home. We rely on the comments from renters to address in-season issues. We have have plumbers, electricians, etc... on call at all times.
The basement thermostat was indeed broken. Unfortunately they never let us know and we only found out when our next guests arrived. After a phone call to our AC/ Heat contractor It was replaced within a few hours. Her last complaint dealt with me not sending directions. Not to be rude, but I am baffled at this accusation. We send out a WELCOME email a few days prior to our guests checkin . This email includes loads of info; Places of interest in the area, Local stores and shops you will need to find( grocery etc..) Rules of the community... Most importantly though we send the code for our keybox and directions.They got in via the key. We never received a phone call asking for the key code so I can only assume that she read the email message stating where the keybox was and what the code is but neglected to print out the docs with the directions. We sent it last minute because her final payment arrived the day before checkin

Every year we rent a different home with a group of friends. I must say tha this time we not only had enough room but the location was perfect. We were able to go fishing, a ittle shopping, go to the casino and still rest and relax, watch movies, play a game of pool or just cook out on the grill and relax on the deck. We had a fun filled weekend and all agreed that we would rent this property again.
