We stayed here for 10 days and from the first sight we felt like home! Petite Retreat is a lovely cottage with everything we need and Dana Point has beautiful beaches which our little daughter just loves.
Thank you for everything
The Petite Retreat is a vintage shore house that takes visitors to a place of relaxation and great views. The garden yard and decking around the house provide a cozy and warm atomsphere and not to mention a great place to read or sunbath. The ocean view can be enjoyed from the deck and is especially nice in the evening when the sun is going down. The inside accomdations are reminiscent of beach houses along the northeast coast. The quaintness of the cottage still allows for modern conveniences, like the big screen T.V. our two teenagers enjoyed viewing. The cottage is in walking distance of the Dana Harbor were we enjoyed shopping and drinks. San Juan Capistrano is about a 5 minute drive and the town is still one of our favorites. Also, Anaheim and San Diego are not too far away and the cottage is a great home base to explore south orange county. We will never stay at a hotel again in Dana Point(Orange County), at Petite Retreat we felt like a guests in home at the shore.
I honestly couldn't wait to get home and write a review of this property. My husband and I, along with our 2yr.old son, just got back from this quaint beach cottage...personally I don't think the pictures fully capture how great of a place this little petite retreat is. We loved waking up and having a cup of tea on the front porch while gazing out to the ocean. The decor is welcoming and cozy, my son especially loved walking up and down the steps to the cottage at night as they are lined with "twinkle" lights. There was a nice cool breeze that filtered through the house, making the temperature very comfortable (Dana, the owner, even provides blankets for those who might want to gaze at the night sky from either of the two porches). The shower was great-good water pressure and temperature. Having a washer and dryer was definitely helpful- especially when traveling with a toddler. I wish this review would allow me to post some of the pictures my family and I took while staying here, because you would see that THIS is the place to stay. Dana, responds fast to inquiries, I felt that if my family needed anything she was only a phone call away, and I loved her recommendations on where to eat and what to do while staying in Dana Point. Bottom line... the location can't be beat, nor can the price. I look forward to staying here again in the future.
This retreat was just what we needed. The stairs leading up to the house were lined by a variety of colorful roses and a beautiful shade tree -- wonderful to wake up to! Everything we could possibly need was in the kitchen from appliances to small tools and plastic ware. We loved the large windows surrounding the entire home. The master bed was comfortable with a variety of pillows to choose from. The wifi and large TV were an added plus. After each day at the beach you could ask for nothing more than to sit on the wrap around deck and enjoy the view of the ocean while sipping a cool drink. The quiet rolling streets in this sweet Lantern District retreat, were wonderful for morning and evening walks. Close by was a terrific breakfast and lunch place where we met and enjoyed the company of several great locals. I forgot my picnic thermos and umbrella and was tickled to find both--and more-- in the linen closet, to pack up snacks for going to the beach!! Who would have guessed! The enclosed wash-dryer made coming home as pleasant as arriving. The three of us loved everything about this retreat and are planning on arranging our schedules to try and return next August and stay for a month, to get away from the Arizona heat. We have stayed in other Dana Point beach houses and in San Clemente, by far the Dana Point Retreat is the most comfortable, quiet, and amenable. You can't help but love it!
This was my second winter "retreat" at Dana's Petite Retreat and - like the first time - I felt as though I was "coming home" the minute I stepped inside the front door. Petite Retreat has a kitchen with every appliance and utensil you'd need to prepare a meal, thick and thirsty bath towels, beach towels, an umbrella, TV, WiFi, toaster, microwave… even a first aid kit. The views from inside and outside on the deck are incredible. I highly, highly recommend treating yourself to a stay at the Petite Retreat.
We really enjoyed our October stay at the Petite Retreat! Your cottage was cozy, clean and comfortable and a great location for spending time in the Dana Point area. We walked several mornings to the harbor for breakfast and a stroll along the beachfront. We also appreciated your hospitality and timely response to our questions prior to arriving.
We'll definitely consider staying there again! It was a perfect "home" for us and so thankful it worked out to stay there. Thanks again, Dana.
We spent 4 nights at the Petite Retreat and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing vacation. The house was well kept, clean and exactly as pictured. The deck is large and it was very nice to be able to grill some meals and relax on the deck. It was my husband and I plus our 21 month old daughter. She still keeps asking us to take her back to the "beach house". There are great restaurants near by and it is a short drive to many great beaches. We also drove up to Laguna Beach one morning. I hope the opportunity presents itself that we can stay here again!
The home is located within walking distance to downtown and many fine dining restaurants and coffeehouses. We are very close to the areas most popular beaches.
