Overview

Waialua House Rental Photos and Description

Estate, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Share the romance and beauty of the North Shore with your entire family!

Swing open the gate, step onto the beach and say “Aloha” to the turtles who come to our beach each afternoon, or meet the local fishermen who cast their rods and talk story as the sun gently paints the sky a million shades of pink and orange as it slowly sinks into the ocean--another day in paradise ends with the every present ebb and flow of the tide.

This quiet, secluded, gated OCEAN FRONT estate is ON THE WATER and perfect for intimate family vacations, family reunions and small private weddings.

Completely removed from the congested North Shore traffic, living is easy on this quarter acer lot with 90 feet of ocean front and plenty of water activities including: kayaking, surfing, standup paddling, snorkeling, swimming and stand castle construction. When the conditions are right the local fishermen show up--and are happy to talk story. If you are seeking a true Hawaiian experience, then this is the spot!

The property was named Hale Hono (Home of Turtle) because the Hawaiian green sea turtles come just about every day, and sometimes nap on the beach. Remember they are an endangered species--please keep a 50’ distance when taking photographs.

The tranquil sound of waves and trades can be heard from every room and will lull you into a restful night’s sleep in your true Hawai’i oasis. Life doesn’t get much better. Please read our unsolicited Guest Comments and see for yourself. Our guests never want to leave this property as guest comfort is our #1 focus. Let us know what we can do to help make your dreams come true.

Other Amenities: Completely remodeled in casual elegance with high end materials, furnishings and art. This property offers two separate living quarters with two living rooms, two kitchens, two laundry rooms, and high quality appliances: Wolf, Viking, SubZero, Fisher & Paykel. Also included: FREE Wi-Fi & DISH Satellite plus DISH Hopper DVRs and 6 Samsung HD LED TVs. There is also a gas BBQ.

Note from owner Pat: Oceanside mossrock pool w/deep blue ceramic tile was recently heated (passive solar system January 2013). This is a saline system so the water is very soft and luxurious and completely void of harsh swimming pool chemicals. You will love the sunsets from the back yard and the pool, along with the feel of the water after a day of exploring the North Shore.

Owner's Estate Residence is occasionally offered to qualified Guests.

About Pat

Aloha All, I am a retired Intel International Program Manager. I have lived in the islands since 1988. I have always loved the ocean and feel there is no better place on earth than the North Shore.

Pat purchased this house in 2004

Why Pat chose Waialua

I split my time between my homes at Diamond Head and the North Shore. The North Shore is my 'country' home. I wanted to a place that was tranquil, private and secluded with lots of natural beauty and sea life. Because I am not there all the time, I thought it would be nice to share my little slice of paradise with those who hear the call of the ocean.

What makes this house unique

Ocean front, heated saline pool, secluded, tranquil, roomy, renovated, upgraded, tiff lawn, turtles, North Shore without the horrible traffic hassles, Haliewa is 10 minutes away for dining if you don't want to cook or BBQ.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Waking up and hearing the ocean is something we can't do at home in Chicago or San Francisco. Your home is perfectly appointed and I cannot think of a better way to spend a holiday. Thanks for sharing this amazing property with us----We look forward to a return visit soon!

A Warm Mahalo,

Splendid

3 guests = mid-50's and 2 guests = 20 years old.

From the car rental agent, to the shop clerk, to the restaurant waitress, after discovering our rental location, many Island service providers expressed their North Shore approval. Neighborhood is pleasant. Home is comfortable. Shower pressure is great. Additional amenities (extra pillows etc.) in each living spaces are at your disposal and it's difficult to imagine wanting for any tool, utensil, kitchen gadget, as the kitchen is very well stocked. Snorkel gear, boogie boards, life jackets and kayak's are available (but for fear of injury, the owner chose not to give us the kayak oars - - which we wished we had, especially on the final 2-days, because the morning ocean was such a beautiful calm). Hostess/Owner, "Pat" is an organized, personable, easygoing, non-intrusive lady who's main objective was to insure that our experiences were 100% satisfactory. Nice place.

Amazing beachfront luxury with EVERY possible amenity

  • 5 of 5

My family of four stayed at this immaculate property just before Christmas. It was our first time renting a vacation home through VRBO so we were not sure of what we were gong to get. All I can say is the pictures do not do this home justice. The outside of the property is gorgeous. It is located on a quite stretch of beach on the North Shore, only about a 5 minute drive to the nearest town with shops, supermarkets and restaurants galore. It is CLEARLY the most beautiful house on the block. All the landscaping and lighting(with outside tiki torches) is well thought out. The beach itself is beautiful with shell collecting and snorkeling just off shore. And to top it off, the waters are FULL of giant sea turtles that are friendly. We literally saw several turtles either lying on the beach or swimming in the water every day. Although it was whale season and the owner (who is very friendly and approachable) told us we might see them, we did not get to see any whales this trip. The beach was totally swimmable, even though we were there during the surfing championship and elsewhere on the North shore the waves were HUGE!. And BONUS: floating on the lounger in the heated pool is sheer bliss! The inside of the property is fabulous. It is tastefully decorated with native art and comfortable furniture. The bathrooms and kitchens are new, modern and spotlessly clean(NOT A BUG OR GRAIN OF SAND IN SIGHT) The showers(both inside and outdoors are wonderful). The beds and linens are sooo comfy. No need of AC in this house: the cross ventilation with ceiling fans was more than adequate to keep the house comfortable both day and night. And the owner is so thoughtful in keeping the house stocked with every amenity you could ask for from satellite large screen TV, DVDs and wi-fi ,binoculars, snorkel and pool gear, paddle canoes to an amazingly well stocked kitchen. This property has it all: location, beauty, comfort. We'll be back!!

A relaxing enclave among the excitement that is Oahu!

  • 5 of 5

I'll get right to the point: this house is fantastic on so many levels in creating a dream vacation. After only 15 minutes of being in the home, our group brought up the idea of a return visit.

Sometimes folks will criticize Oahu because it's too busy/not enough like "paradise."

Well, while it's no secret Honolulu/Waikiki are urban, this perceived downfall is the island's greatest strength. With 1,000,000+ people on the island, there are far more dining options and cultural activities. Once you get out of Waikiki/Honolulu, you'll discover very special places around the island...one of them being this spectacular home.

Why you should rent this house:

1) No need to wake up at 6am to reserve your pool chairs.

2) Enjoy cooking and farmer's markets? There's a chef's kitchen waiting for you. And two dining tables with unobstructed ocean views. Bon appetit!

3) Sleep with the windows open. Hopefully you can deal with the "noise" of waves crashing.

4) If you're a fan of snorkeling, Shark's Cove is 15 minutes away, and it's the best snorkeling on the island (much better than Hanauma Bay).

5) On Waikiki Beach, you need to fight for real estate. The beach in front of this house is expansive and vacant. It also goes for miles in either direction for long walks.

6) Your own pool. (So for those who don't want to listen to kids screaming and jumping, or adults screaming and jumping for that matter, it's totally serene; and for those who have kids, well you can let them be kids!)

7) Need a little urban excitement? Honolulu/Waikiki is a 30-45 minute car ride, depending on traffic. Once you've had enough, retreat to your private pool!

If you're choosing between this house and a hotel, be sure figure out the true cost of a hotel. Many charge a resort fee (for useless things like local phone calls or a lei greeting), parking fee, and then tax. This house cost our group of 5 about the same as a Waikiki hotel (and that's just a room, not a suite), and we received "priceless" amenities like our own pool, beach, and the ability to save on expensive poolside service!

Some specifics about the house: the beds are comfortable, linens/towels are high quality, the home is in excellent condition, wifi is fast, and it feels very Hawaiian inside.

There's a reef off the beach, so it's not very sandy for swimming. But there's a pool!

Lastly, the owner, Pat, displays the warmest "kokua" and wants her guests to enjoy her home. She felt much more like a friend than a landlord.

Week in quiet, serene Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Looking for a quiet, Peaceful location to unwind and enjoy the ocean in paradise this is it!

The home was amazing, beds super comfortable, all the amenities, utinsils, WiFi, Satelite of your own luxury home. Very clean, well maintained.

We purchased a few sacks of food at the grocery store and "ate in" or on the deck watching the waves or on the patio by the BBQ and immaculatly groomed yard almost every meal. Why go anywhere else.

My daughter loved the private heated pool at night after swiming in the ocean and watching the turtles every afternoon. Yes - everyday around 4 pm about 10 turtles were swiming right off the beach.

Pat had all the snorkle gear, boogie board and beach towles, chairs for walking right out the back gate and lounging at the beach and viewing amazing fish 15 feet off the beach. No need to go anywere else.

June was very calm and no concern about water safety. We floated/swam close to shore and saw lots of fish around the rocks and reef. Not the best water quality or top rated swiming beach but it is protected and with some rash gaurd and water shoes you are good to go.

During the weekdays we were the only ones on "our" beach. The weekend had a few people camping out on the beach and we used those days to tour the island.

This rental is 5 minutes from Waimea for small shops if your in to that, 10 mintues from Sharks Cove "world class beginning snorkling(get there early), 30 minutes from the Polynesian Cultural Center, in a rural, quite neigborhood and everthing went quiet after 10 p.m.. This is not a party area or a place to get rowdy but to relax and unwind.

My favorite was listening to the ocean waves and wind every night while dozing off to sleep and waking up every day at dawn and walking on the beach watching the sun come up.

We had the propety all to ourselves and can say the outdoor shower was awesome. No need to track sand anywhere. Shower off when you get out of the pool or from the beach.

There are cheaper places but for a private, upscale experience this is world class. There is no maid service or room service or close restaurants but again why bother.

We went to Waiamea falls for a short hike but not inspiring water fall and to the chinease BYOBO(sp) temple on the east shore. Very cool.

You would pay about the same for a night at Disneys Aulani with a garden view and pay way more for an ocean view. This house is on the ocean and no one to walk over getting there. Rent it and love it!!
