Wellpark House

The village of Oughterard was lovely. While the house location was near the village, getting in and out of the driveway was difficult. The house is close to the road making it noisy.
The garden was nice, but there is no outdoor furniture except benches at a picnic table.
The kitchen was functional, but the chairs were very uncomfortable.
The kitchen lacked basics - napkins, soap, pepper, salt, aluminum foil, etc...
The bedrooms are all very small and there is only 1 tiny shower in a bath off the kitchen.
Putting money in the electric meter was annoying.
The property was clean, but nothing matched - wallpaper, drapes, bedspreads, slipcovers, etc...seemed like it was filled with discarded things...
Probably wouldn't recommend the house to a friend.
Easy to get to almost anywhere in the area - great fishing, good restaurants and wonderful, helpful people.
Julia, the housekeeper, was very pleasant and helpful when we arrived and call before we left.
Owner's Response: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
The review doesn't mention the other 2 Italian hand painted tiled bathrooms, with huge corner bath, the one acre garden, the original antique furniture (would those be the "discarded things"?) and the winding staircase.
The mix-match floral country house designs in each room are all of matching shades. Not everyone likes Sanderson designs!
This very special romantic Georgian house was built in 1730 and cannot be compared to a modern town flat. Ireland's weather doesn't encourage garden furniture. Our hand- made local stone barbecue garden with teak garden table and teak seating for 8, surrounded by fuchsia flowering hedges was described as a "picnic table".
The house is not close to the road. The end of the huge front garden might be, but the house is set back at least 40 metres from its hedges and the riverwalk pavement on the other side.
Heating and electricity meters are important to allow each guest to have as much or as little heating, electricity as desired. Guests come from many parts of the world and have different needs. Sorry it was not appreciated.
