A Taste of Paradise

Our family spent two wonderful weeks in Windswept this winter, and hope to return next year. The villa has a beautiful view to the south west from Russel's Island, and has a huge deck on the upper story to take advantage of the scene, complete with table and gas grill. There are stone stairs cut down to the water and a small seaside sitting area. A ladder lets you down into the waist deep sea for those who want to swim and snorkel. It was just right for my daughter's first conch diving!
Windswept was spotless. It has a beautiful and well equipped kitchen upstairs (and a second one downstairs which we didn't use) with tiled floors and exquisite decorating. Lucinda (the owner) certainly has an eye for furnishings. There are three bedrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs. Two of them look out over the sea. The upper bedroom opens via french doors to the deck, which beckoned us each morning. The bathrooms have jacuzzi tubs. Downstairs is a home theater with a widescreen tv and dvd player, and a computer which I (unfortunately?) was able to use to keep up with some work e-mails.
The beach over the bridge (3 minutes by golf cart) is absolutely stunning. It extends for a mile or two and if there were another 20 people in sight, it was a busy day.
The grocery store is very well stocked if you want to cook. If you don't, there are several restaurants with great food, although none would be considered "fine dining".
If you are looking for a quiet retreat on a friendly island with beautiful scenery and a nearly deserted beach, Windswept is for you.
Thanks, Lucinda, for sharing your house!
