LITTLE HOUSE-A BUNGALOW IN THE HEART OF BOOTHBAY HARBOR

Boothbay Harbor Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1full bathroom, sleeps 4

Perched atop Fisher Hill sits Little House--just around the corner from bustling downtown with wonderful shops and restaurants. There is a peek at the Harbor--on a clear day you can see Burnt Island Light! Just right for four people, it has a fireplace in the living room; spacious kitchen; a lovely dining room for family meals and games; two bedrooms and a bath. For your entertainment, there is network television; a VCR/DVD player; CD player and, of course, puzzles and board games! Our favorite thing is to curl up with a novel from the supply in the reading nook. For chilly days, firewood is provided. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the second has two twin beds. Guests may supply their own linens or subscribe to optional linen service for an extra fee. Well-behaved dogs will be considered for an extra fee. This is a smoke-free establishment. Not handicapped accessible.

Comments from Guest Book:: 'Little House'--what can we say? You provided good beds, hot water, well appointed kitchen, comfortable chairs...you were serene and warm. You also gave us the opportunity to be introduced to one of the most beautiful parts of of the world--its rocks, its water, its trees and its people. Thanks. B.,G. & A.Z, from Virginia.'

'We had a truly delightful time in Little House! The atmosphere, awesome food & community members of Boothbay made our time here special. We wanted somewhere awesome for our honeymoon & Little House lived up (to our expectations).' K&N from Virginia

'...We have experienced a dream life these past 7 days. Can't thank you enough for the cutest home! Loved the furnishings, quilts and decorations. Wish we had a permanent address here! S.,E.& C.J. L. from Kansas

LITTLE HOUSE - HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
Just as my title says - Home Away From Home. Little House is just that. It is welcoming, warm, comfortable, super clean, well-maintained, well-appointed, and owned by a wonderful person Margaret Perritt. Margaret makes your stay so great that you don't always feel like having to leave it for shopping, sightseeing, or dining out. If the spirit moves you, you feel content just to stay there for the day. Margaret is also just a local phone call away (phone in the cottage) if there are any problems and she is there in a heartbeat if you need her.
This is our 3rd time to LH, but many times to BBH. The area is rich in views beyond your imagination, shops that delight all senses, eateries to tickle the most delicate of palates - and, of course, lobster!!, and just plain Down East experiences. If you find a need to go outside of the Harbor, I would suggest the Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, the Maritime Museum in Bath, and best of all, Pemaquid Point Lighthouse on the Pemiquid peninsula out of Damariscotta. As many times as we have been to BBH, we finally did the Balmy Days II boat ride to Monhegan Island and would do it again.
Little House is perfect for a family of four (5 if one doesn't mind sleeping on the couch - it is very comfortable! We've done it). The kitchen is so well-supplied there is really nothing that you need to bring for that purpose. The dining area is so sunny and bright - perfect for playing games or doing jigsaw puzzles that Margaret has so thoughtfully stashed away for rainy days, and of course meals.
She even has made available hats, binoculars, umbrellas, maps, guides, dog-walking baggies, and much more. She has thought of everything - a fan in each room, too!
The driveway is up a hill, pretty steep, but even I was able to navigate it on foot as a senior citizen. It is so peaceful up there on the hill away from the roar of the traffic on Rte 27.
I cannot wait to get back there again as I have left my heart in BBH and LH!
Enjoy.

CUTE AND COZY WITH A GREAT LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
A nice "Little House" that is in the perfect location. Easy walks into town where shops, restaurants and the harbor itself. Return trip is up the steep driveway but made for a good little workout.

The inside is tidy and has a clean full kitchen that supplies all you would need to prepare any meals (if you decide not to walk into town) and there is a modern updated bathroom. The bungalow does show its age in the bedrooms and living room (with a nice stone fireplace!) but is part of the charm and overall ambiance.

The off-site owner is very pleasant to deal with and made our stay very pleasant.

Thanks MJP, we'll be back!!!

SERENE AND PEACEFUL

  • 4 of 5
Little House was peaceful and clean. The kitchen was nicely supplied and the house has great natural lighting - light, bright and cheery. We loved the location to downtown - everything was within a nice walking distance.

SUNNY, WARM AND INVITING LITTLE HOUSE!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I have been visiting the Boothbay Harbor area for the past 30 years. We've usually stayed in an ocean cottage but this year decided to stay in town. We loved the little blue house. Margaret has created a warm, cozy and homey atmosphere. The cottage is bright and cheery. We loved being able to walk to town and enjoy a different part of Boothbay Harbor. The kitchen is well equiped. I didn't use anything I brought for the kitchen - she thought of everything. Our dogs enjoyed sitting in the yard and watching the happenings of BBH.

We hope to go back again next year.

AFFORDABLE, CLEAN AND COZY - MAINE LITTLE HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
We Loved it here! Artsy and Lots of interesting books and photos of Maine all through out the house, Cozy and comfy (the beds didnt leave us with a sore back, just a restful sleep so we could start our day) and we had packed days! We walked right out the front door and Just a Stones throw or should I say ( sea shells throw) away where charming cafes and interesting shops .. The people watching was so Interesting as there was a mix of Well to do, mixed with urban chic and finally my favorite- the colorful earnest helpful Maine Locals ... We drove to different destinations and did Mountain biking and hiking over a wide array of terrains, Canoeing, sea kayaking, fishing, swimming, and picknicking. Somedays I was just sitting by the shore near the pier and found myself reading a good book and listening to the waves... It really doesn't get any better than this! ( It was affordable too, which allowed my family to go out to dinner often and take day trips to fun places) The owner was down to earth and hassle free to deal with ...we where promptly refunded our deposit and are looking forward to returning to this Beautiful corner of Maine in the Future. I enjoy photography as well and Maine has some of the best natural Light I've ever come across. Margaret was very accommodating without infringing on our Privacy.... If anyone has any questions they can contact me personally regarding my stay at Little house, Thank you Jacquie in Pennsylvania--

CHARMING COTTAGE CLOSE TO TOWN

  • 2 of 5
The cottage is very charming and within walking distance of downtown. Pets are welcome which is great. The kitchen is well-equipped and we made good use of it while we were there. The driveway is very steep and in very poor condition. Something to keep in mind if you don't have a strong all-wheel drive vehicle. The fenced backyard is not a plus -- it is grown over with weeds -- the area that is mown is extremely small. We are neat freaks so we found it a bit subpar in the clean category, but very tidy and family friendly.

Owner's Response: Boothbay Harbor is a hilly town and the driveways up to houses on hills can be daunting. Our driveway was recently re-done. It is certainly accessible and has not been a problem this season. The fenced yard is, in fact, better for smaller dogs. The cottage is thoroughly cleaned after each family vacates. It is unfortunate that we were unable to please this client.

Boothbay Harbor is a classic New England seaport. This small community is becoming, once again, the wooden boat building center of the east coast. The Jamestown 2007 ship, 'Discovery', was built here. Nearby Pemiquid Lighthouse and the rocky coast is a must-see. A visit to the Railroad Village and the Aquarium will thrill the children. The Opera House offers exciting programs throughout the summer. The whole family will enjoy cruising out into the Bay of Maine to see whales, harbor seals and the many islands that dot the seascape. Community theater, band concerts on the commons, Windjammer Days, fireworks over the Harbor, and homemade ice cream make life grand in the summertime in Boothbay Harbor! Other Activities: Deep sea fishing and whale watching. Kayaking and canoeing
