This is our home away from home—-we are here twice a year—-so you can be assured the conditions, amenities and supplies are far above the average rental. Why take your chances with a rental pool condominium where you have no idea of the quality or location of your unit until the day you arrive? Our unit is available to rent directly from the owner and we will work with you to assure your vacation in this little slice of paradise is the best that it can be.

Nestled in the Southern most part of Kihei, bordering Wailea and close to the best beaches on Maui, is our 1061-square-foot, one-bedroom, two-bath, garden view condominium--unit K109. We also have K103 which is close to K109 and is perfect if you are traveling with friends. The condominium is situated in the 23-acre low rise, low density Maui Kamaole complex. The complex is carpeted in lush tropical gardens with flowers and palms that give it a feel more like Wailea but at a Kihei value.

With two pools, two Jacuzzis, Barbecues throughout and two tennis courts, you will not be disappointed. And please take advantage of the proximity to beautiful Wailea with its five-star resorts, great restaurants, golf courses and the Shops at Wailea shopping center.

Our condominium is one of the newest units in the complex with construction completed in 2001. The complex has two swimming pools with two Jacuzzis. We are just steps away from the upper tropical pool-—complete with waterfall and sand bottom Jacuzzi. The back lanai has a very private feeling with no traffic to disturb your peaceful evenings.

Our front courtyard and real lanai offer lush tropical plantings for a little extra privacy and tropical feel. The facility also boasts two tennis courts, again just steps away from our unit, and two barbecues at each pool with an additional Webber barbecue at each pod for your convenience.

Our condominium offers all the comforts of home with a fully appointed kitchen including full range/oven, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker and all the accoutrements the creative cook desires.

The master bedroom features a queen-sized bed and is beautifully done in a Hawaiian motif. The large master bath has two sinks and a full tub and shower. The living room also features a queen-sized sofa bed with a bathroom with shower in the adjacent hall.

For entertainment there are TV/VCRs with cable in both the master bedroom and living room. You will also find a DVD player, a CD player and high-speed wireless internet is included at no extra charge.

Even though this is a cool downstairs unit with great cross ventilation due to the afternoon trades, it is equipped with ceiling fans in the living room, kitchen and master bed. But it also has two air conditioners should you choose. You will also find a few other niceties like a digital safe in the master bed to house your laptop, a full-sized refrigerator with ice maker, full sized stacked washer/dryer, dishwasher and even an ironing board.

Why Susan Simpson chose Kihei

As frequent travelers to the Hawaiian Islands, we have visited all of them over the last 30 years numerous times. And while the other islands have their strong points, the charms of Maui can be found no where else in the island chain. Our first visit was to the Northern part of Maui but each time we returned we found better weather and properties lie in the south. In all of the times we rented at many properties we found the Maui Kamaole to be the best property in Kihei, bar none. So it should come as no surprise when considering our purchase that we chose the Maui Kamaole. The complex is low density, unlike the hotels in the North where you can barely find a chaise poolside. The grounds are beautiful, unlike any complex in the area. Complex management is the best and the property is maintained to a very high standard. We love the property so much we bought two units and return twice a year to work and play in paradise. We hope you visit soon, you will also fall in love with the magic of Maui.

What makes this condo unique

The Road to Hana: Journey along the wet side of the island with all the waterfalls, it is wonderful. Stop at Keane peninsula and bring a picnic lunch for Waianapanapa State Park. Then go past Hana at 7 pools (O’heo Gulch)—spectacular.

Lahaina: Lahaina is charming, has good food, and quaint shops. Go early. It gets hot and crowded later in the day. Leave the condo at 8:30 or so and head up the coast, it takes about 40 minutes.

Ka’anapali: There are many fabulous resorts; most have been updated in the past few years. Sometimes it is fun to go to Whaler’s Village and/or go to the hotels and just walk around. Park at the Marriot, and just cruise the strip, which must include the Hyatt Regency.

Haleakala Crater: Watch the sunrise from the highest mountain on Maui. If you are not an early bird, you can see the crater from the front door of the condo, if it is clear go for it. Haleakala is 10,000 feet high, so it is cold. Wear warm clothes. Total trip is about 4 hours.

Pa’ia and Up Country: Pa’ia hosts some nice art galleries, get out of the car and take a stroll. Upcountry you’ll find Panaole’s (Cowboys) and very different countryside including cactus, horses and some very charming small Hawaiian towns.

Wailea/Makena: We are 2 blocks from Wailea. The Shops of Wailea has some really upscale shops, and free parking. The beaches in this area are really great. Big Beach, Makena and Keawakapu are worth checking out.

Whale Watch: We take Pacific Whale Foundation Whale Watch trip out of Lahaina or Ma'alea Harbor. Whale season runs from mid December through April so if you are lucky enough to go on this outing, do it. They also do a dolphin adventure to Lanai’I which we do in the summer.

- condo was perfect for us!

- really, I have no complaints

-one suggestion would be to provide a screened plug over the drain as we were always worried stuff (like cutlery) would go down the sink, we are not used to garburators. we prefer to wash dishes by hand so it would be helpful to have it covered at times.

Rest and Relaxation

R&R, just what we wanted. This condo is ideally situation within the stunningly beautiful complex. Walking trails throughout the complex will be sure to please. Located by the nicer of the two pools with a westward facing garden view. The interior has been recently upgraded with new paint and new furniture and carpeting. The queen size bed was comfortable for the two us. And after decades of spending part of each winter renting condos on Maui, I can say in all honesty, this gets top rating on cleanliness. Lots of nice dishes and other kitchen supplies. The owners make sure to have all of the necessary paper items and plastic bags in the closets, saving on having to run out for another shopping expedition. Very nice touch. Would rent again and have already noted this unit to a friend for consideration

Home away from home

We had the pleasure of staying in K109 for two weeks in January 2015. This was our 2nd family trip to Maui and having rented Mark and Susan's other unit, K103, in 2013 we were excited to stay in their 2nd unit this time. As with our experience last time, K109 did not disappoint!

Mark and Susan really have thought of everything to ensure your vacation is comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. Both of their units are very well equipped with everything from Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrellas to boogie boards, beach toys, coolers and more. The kitchen is well stocked and there is even a small supply of spices and herbs left behind, presumably, by previous guests and/or your hosts.

The complex itself is beautifully landscaped, quiet and well laid out. Both K103 and K109 are right adjacent to the tropical pool which is so convenient.

As important as your accommodations are the people you deal with when planning your vacation. Susan has always been very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. And, we already know when we look to return in another couple years Mark and Susan will be at the top of our list to contact for a condo rental.

Great Vacation

We chose unit K109 because of its location within the Maui Kamaole complex - close to parking, pool and BBQ. A short walk to the beach and plenty of afternoon sun on the lanai and grass area.

The unit is nicely furnished and very well equipped, with everything we needed for our month long stay.

The complex is within walking distance of a number of restaurants, in all price ranges, for dinning and happy hour. Also, a short drive and you have the shops and restaurants at Wailea.

The owners, Susan and Mark, were great to deal with and we would certainly return.

We found Maui Kamaole thru VRBO and we were not disappointed. We regularly rely on VRBO reviews and you will not be disappointed. Home was neat clean and had all items needed to just relax. Grills provided by the complex were plentyful but they seem to be regulated to cook at a low heat setting. I could not get a grill above 300 degrees. The home is perfect and if I had to make a change request I would suggest newer sheets on the bed. The sheets were thin. I would rent the home again and suggest it also.

Maui Kamaole was recommended by friends, and we were happy we chose the K109 unit. The condo suited our accessibility needs as it was all on one ground-level floor. Parking, pool, and BBQ are close to the condo. Beaches are within walking distance if you don't mind a short hike, or drive early in the a.m. to get a parking spot. Very well equipped kitchen and lots of beach/day trip gear. Susan is friendly and knowledgeable, and respond to questions quickly. We enjoyed Pita Paradise in Wailea, Big Mama's Fish House, Coconuts (fish tacos), and try the poke at Safeway. Pick up your groceries and supplies at Costco or big box stores because they can be pricey - and try splitting meals or appetizers because the portions are huge here.

I would recommend this condo to family and friends as it would be suitable for almost any traveler.
