Edinburgh & Lothians Vacation Rental : Edinburgh city centre

The owner was very helpful while we contemplated reserving this flat. The description and subsequent information from the owner was accurate regarding the location and layout. Waverley train station, major shops and shopping areas, and restaurants are all within a short walking distance of the apartment. The gentleman who received us was waiting at the door of the building and was extremely nice, helping us carry our luggage as I hadn't realized that we had to go up two floors to reach the flat and there is no lift. This was difficult for the two seniors in our family. The gentleman was also helpful explaining how things worked and helped us find our way to a petrol station and the car rental return. The linen and towels provided were clean and in very good condition and the living/dining room area was ample. We were disappointed, however, that the flat was not as well maintained or luxurious as we had thought from the pictures and for the price, especially after our experience with the London flat we had just left. For example, the windows were difficult to open and keep open, it was dusty-especially in cupboards, and the furniture was worn (uncomfortable sofa mattress) and stained. We would have preferred heavier curtains to keep the light out while sleeping and there was quite a bit of noise from the street (there's also a bar across the street). So I wouldn't recommend this particular flat for older people nor people with children.
