The Periwinkle Cottage is a charming cottage in the woods with a lovely ocean view. The Periwinkle Cottage is tucked in the woods above a cove one mile south of the northern tip of Campobello Island and within walking distance of the beautiful East Quoddy Head Harbour Lighthouse and the Head Harbour wharf where working fishing boats dock and Whale Watch Tours take on passengers. The East Quoddy Head Lighthouse is one of the most photographed in the world . At low tide you can walk on the ocean floor to go over to the island the lighthouse sits. The Periwinkle is a 2 room cottage with an expansive deck for bird and whale watching and a lovely view of the Pasaquoddy Bay. Enjoy dining alfresco with eagles and ospreys flying overhead and the sounds of whales feeding in the cove below. Easy, close-up views of whales are frequent in the summer and early fall. This is a private and charming retreat surrounded by trees and Adirondack chairs on the cliff overlooking the water

The Periwinkle Cottage is on beautiful Campobello Island, home of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt's beloved summer home and the museum and International Park which bear his name. Campobello Island is connected by bridge to Lubec, Maine, home of the renowned candy striped West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the easternmost point of the US. Within waling distance of the East Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the cottage offers privacy and seclusion and a wonderful view. Campobello is great for beach combing for star fish, sea urchins and sand dollars and shards of ancient sea glass, walk on the ocean floor at low tide to visit the lighthouse. Watch working fishing boats, play golf on the spectacular 9 hole oceanfront golf course, tour the Roosevelt International Park and visit FDR's summer home, hike the trails, go rock collecting on the beaches. Visit Herring Cove, Campobello's public beach with picnic and playground. 2 1/2 hours from Bar Harbor and 1 1/2 hours from St Andrews Canadian resort.

  • The Periwinkle cottage is painted white on the interior with ocean blue wood floors. The bedroom has a comfortable and new full size bed. A child could use a mattress pad to sleep if necessary. The cottage also has a fold up cot which could be used by a child as well as a thick mattress pad under the master bed which can be used with a sleeping bag. The Periwinkle Cottage is small but it does have a fold up cot and a foam mattress stored under the master bedroom bed. It is a great get away cottage in the woods overlooking the ocean.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Periwinkle Cottage. It was great to take a few days to relax and unwind. The cottage is exactly as described and the views were spectacular. We are definitely going to return to Campobello Island!

It was nice to come back to the Island since not being here since I was a little girl. This time I brought my own boys who explored almost every beach on the island. We found sand dollars, sea glass, sea urchins and beautiful shells. Eagles were nesting in the trees near the cottage. We also saw Peregrine, falcon, seals and porpoises and its been lovely to come back. The Periwinkle cottage was perfect and a quiet respite. Thank You

Whale,seals,eagles, porpoises, osprey and gulls

First of all don't miss the sunrise at the Lighthouse down the street. Seeing the sunrise and coming back to hear the whales blow from the cottage deck was unreal. Visit the Roosevelt information center for inside information. We saw seals, finback and minke whales, eagles and osprey, porpoise and lots of gulls from the cottage deck. The cottage was so clean and had everything to make our stay on Campobello Island comfortable. Thank you so much!

The Periwinkle Cottage: Too Charming to Resist!

We came over to the Island from touring Maine and to see the Roosevelt Cottage and decided to stay at the Periwinkle Cottage which is just to charming to resist. The People are great her at the stores and the Family Fisheries. Your before pictures of the cottage are unbelievable. What you did here in your restoration is amazing!
