Beautifully renovated self-catering accommodation overlooking a large garden with views on to Pyrenean mountains. The property has views of the Vallespir area with the river Tech flowing by approximately 200m away. The apartment contains 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed, the second can be made up to be a double bed or remain as 2 singles. The living room has a double sofa bed. The living room offers a TV/video/DVD & radio/CD/cassette player. Fully equipped kitchen/dining area with electric cooker, fridge, microwave. There is also the use of a washing machine. The garden offers an outdoor eating area with terraces, BBQ & swimming pool. The swimming pool (4.5mx11m) lays in the main part of the garden. The apartment is approximately 50m2 & built in natural grey stone from the surrounding area. Should you be interested in dual holiday locations to explore the Roussillon check out another property. Le Cerisier is approximately 1h from Argeles beaches. It is also 1h from historic Perpignan. The surrounding area is known for its wine region. Ideally placed for visiting the many historic places of Roussillon. The area offers many influences both Spanish, French and Catalan in its foods, wines and culture. The main motorway exits the Boulou (El Volo)which takes you into the Vallespir area towards the border of Spain. The many picturesque sites along the way give much pleasure in introducing you to the French way of living. Towns and villages along the way give you a blend of all Catalan tastes. Ceret has the influence of Picasso and Amelie-les-Bains is known for its many health spas. Arles-sur-Tech which is only 20km from the Spanish border and is well known for its Abbey and historic interest. A saint's tomb weeps water from time to time from an unknown source. The area is known for it produce of fruit. The first cherries are available here for the whole of France each season.

Enjoy our new swimming pool (4.5m x 11m), which has been laid in the main part of the garden surrounded by terraces. Alternatively the river Tech has areas where you can swim nearby. Should you wish to explore Spain then you will have beaches on the Costa Brava in Roses & Empuria Brava, continuing the golden beaches of the Mediterranean coast. For an extra charge we can arrange a welcome package of necessary items of your choice from the supermarket. The swimming pool is treated with a UV system, which is friendly to the environment. No other products are added.

Places to visit: Arles sur Tech is situated at the centre of Vallespir and has many assets. During the Middle Ages Arles grew with the development of a Benedictine Abbey. Visiting the Abbey and its 13th Century Cloister is a must for history enthusiasts. The Gorges de la Fou, about 5 minutes from Arles is a natural crevasse where you can experience the beauty of Stalagmites & Stalactites. Many local festivals take place throughout the year in the area. During August a Medieval traditional event takes place in Arles over a weekend. The village is transformed back in time to the Medieval times. The tradesmen and women of the time, jugglers, fire eaters and market stalls fill the streets. Should you wish to dress up, you can join in the festivities. It has a true carnival atmosphere. Theatre acts and puppet shows together with actors dressed in costume re-enact scenes that might have happened in the Middle Ages. Knights jousting and performing competitions make it all a very memorable day to experience.

Villages in the region.: Prats de Mollo is the second town of the region. It is known for its beautiful surroundings. The church of Saint Juste and Raffine built in the year 1245 is worth a visit. From June to August Fort Lagarde has large daily events where they display Cavaliers in costume from the 14th century reliving the ambiance of the daily living and fighting. Stunts are performed with horses and displays with muskets and cannons give it a superb sense of reality. Amelie les Bains which is approximately 15 minutes from Arles is renowned for its natural beauty with its many health spas generated from warm springs. Every summer the village holds a folkloric festival celebrating the traditional dances from around the world. In September they participate in 'Fesibanyes' (bull games). Towards Spain: About 10 minutes from Le Cerisier is a village called St Laurent de Cerdans. It has an 18 hole golf course and the village was the main producer of the espadrille sandals. When visiting the museum of art , it is also possible to view the traditional reconstruction of making the espadrilles with tools of bygone days and trades. A visit to the Toiles de Soleil is a factory still making traditional Catalan cloth, design and styles. The weaving still takes place and gives a great insight into the intricate work needed to produce the fabrics available for sale. They have a website. Popping into Spain taking the mountain route gives you an opportunity to explore the many Spanish villages and their traditions. The food and wines always give a better flavour in appreciating the Catalan way of living. For shopping expeditions Spain is perfect for purchases of alcohol, perfumes and all the delicious nibbles that you can enjoy with a glass of wine. The choice is so varied it leaves you spoilt.

The property was as described, the owners could not have been more helpful.
The location lends itself to sightseeing, relaxing around the pool or playing one of the many games provided.
We think several of our friends would enjoy staying here and will mention it to them.
We were sad to leave and that we could not stay longer.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday spent here. Gordon & Carol were the perfect hosts. The pool & gardens were fantastic.The table tennis table was great for entertaining the kids. Hope to return again soon.

Our little family had a very great time as Carol and Gordons guests! The appartment just has everything you need to be all comfy and able to cook (super kitchen!!!), read (so many books and dvds!), watch the football championships, bbq, and of course, chill out by the beautiful, very clean pool! it is a very spacious garden, and stunning views. the hosts were very very friendly, very helpfull, but left the garden and pool entirely to us whenever we were home. although they are great people (and fun to hang out with) that was great for us to have this family privacy!
the trips to the area are great, the lovely towns at the sea are reached in just under an hour. we enjoyed taking hikes, it is the perfect surrounding for that, so many different routes to chose from. all in all, we are very glad we found such a good place to spend our vacation, and we can absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves france, spain, mountains, and the ocean.
