Located only a few minutes from Bryson City, we offer a great location..and easily accessible roads, views you will fall in love with, and nature and seclusion at its best.. Recent guests were thrilled to discover deer in the back yard! With a large great room that has a 25' vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, an open floor plan, two bedrooms plus a large sleeping loft with French doors to a balcony overlooking beautiful sunset views, a large screened porch and a covered porch and a hot tub for 7 on the new patio (that adds up to over 1,000 feet of outdoor living space)...and great news, we have just added a 'portable fire pit' in the back yard for roasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories...it truly doesn't get any better than this...

Bryson City offers unparalleled views, along with miles of hiking and biking trails (the Appalachian Trail run right through the area), mountain golf at the Smoky Mountain Country Club, and the scenic Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Nearby Fontana Lake(only 5 minutes away) is a beautiful mountain lake where you can swim, fish, and rent a pontoon boat for either half or the entire day. Also nearby is the Nantahala Outdoor Center for white-water rafting, horseback riding, restaurants, the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, Tsali for mountain biking, Cherokee and Deep Creek for tubing, hiking and picnics. You'll never run out of things to do!

Notes: A recent guest wrote in our guest-book..'.the kids loved the house so much we had to practically drag them to go out and see stuff'. You will love the screened porch with ping pong table, wrought-iron table and chairs, rattan furniture and some great bird-watching. The front covered porch is great for rocking and swinging and feeling that you're in a tree-house. The back patio has a large Hot Tub, umbrella table and chairs. The balcony has mountain and sunset views. No smoking allowed inside the home , however smoking is permitted on the covered porch or on the grounds. Electronic darts and Foosball are in the mini-game room. Your biggest decision all day will be whether to stay home (because you won't want to leave) or go sightseeing. A Log Heaven is very private, very comfortable and you will just love being there...

A special message from owners, Ty and Sandy Nelson: We purchased A Log Heaven eight years ago. We fell in love with it at first sight. We are originally from Chicago and the thought of owning a real log cabin in the Smoky Mountains excited us beyond belief. The beautiful country heart pine wood floors, tongue and groove log walls and the enormous vaulted ceiling with huge exposed beams took our breathe away. We bought our log heaven for all the folks out there just like us who would love to experience a log home... and appreciate the privacy... tucked back in the woods... with only nature and wildlife for neighbors...We don't have a rental service handling our vacation home...our vacation home is handled by us, the Nelsons, the owners. There is no one who cares about you as much as the owners of a vacation property. We are directly involved in your vacation planning. Rental services are not. We work hard on your behalf to make sure your vacation is terrific and that you have no last minute 'surprises'. Be sure to rent by owner.

We don't have bored guests; (We offer a hot tub for adults, ping-pong, foosball, electronic darts, outdoor wood burning portable fire pit, board games, flat back yard, tire swing and books and magazines, etc.....) . We don't have uncomfortable beds.... We don't have kids fighting over the TV... they have their own TV in the loft; in fact they have their own special world in the loft.. . We don't have another cabin right next door; in fact, we have what everyone wants........we have complete privacy.

A Must Visit (Again and Again)

North Carolina has long been a favorite vacation destination of ours. Last year was our first venture into the Bryson City area and the first of what we hope to be many future stays at Log Heaven.

It was our first time renting a vacation home, as we stayed in friend's homes in previous years. At first glance on the internet, there were so many places to choose from; but when we happened upon the Log Heaven listing, we immediately knew we found our vacation home.

Everything we were looking for - privacy; being in the middle of the beautiful NC mountains; close proximity to so many things to do and see; a spacious, beautiful log cabin home with all the amenities - was advertised. It was easy to get excited about what lay ahead.

Well, we sure weren't disappointed either. As soon as we first pulled up to Log Heaven, we could tell the listing didn't do full justice to this place. It is amazing and well worth a visit. You will fall in love with the house and if you manage to tear yourself away to go out nature walking or visiting the local sites, you always will look forward to coming 'home' to Log Heaven.

In addition to the lovely home, there are several great restaurants and shops of all varieties in the area. Our interests lean toward nature walks, waterfall hunting, and photography. This is an excellent location for all of that with many great spots only short drives away.

Do your homework before you come. Your hosts will provide brochures and maps of the local area, but you will want to scout around the surrounding areas as well. They also provide all you need to know about the house so you will be well acquainted when you get there.

Enjoy your stay! We sure did!

Truly A Log Heaven & Beyond!

We first visited A Log Heaven on the summer of 2002 with our whole family. We loved it and the kids loved it! There is so much to do in Bryson City and the surrounding areas! The cabin is absolutely fabulous -- charming, cozy, clean, excellent condition, beautifully decorated, private, close to everything, gorgeous open front porch and wonderful screened back porch with eating area, sitting area, and ping-pong table! We had so much fun! We visited again without our children this past October '07 for our 25th wedding anniversary and fell in love again with A Log Heaven, Bryson City, and the Smoky Mountains! Five years later we found A Log Heaven again in excellent condition in every way with new amenities which added to the overall beauty of the cabin and property!
There is SO much to do in the Bryson City area and during our two visits we took advantage of many things -- hiking, horseback riding, river rafting, a train ride through the mountains, biking, tubing, pontoon boat trip on Lake Fontana, restaurants and small-town shopping with some of the nicest people on earth...but we also just loved being at A Log Heaven as it is so peaceful, relaxing, cozy, and beautiful!
It was so nice to find that everything was exactly as described on the website since this was the first time we ventured to go somewhere without a personal recommendation! The owners are absolutely wonderful people and this was reflected in every element of our visits: inqiries, scheduling dates, necessary information from the owners about A Log Heaven and helpful suggestions about what to bring and things to do in the area, friendly communication about things like weather and odds & ends that would be helpful to us, best wishes for a great visit/vacation, follow-up, etc. THIS IS A GREAT PLACE WHICH WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND HAVE TOLD MANY FRIENDS ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!

Our Heavenly Stay

We come to the Carolinas about every six months just to getaway and are a little paticular about where we stay. This past Spring we stayed at A Log Heaven and just loved it. Not only did we have the privacy we wanted, but the cabin was still close enough to town to get what we needed or to venture out for the day. And, Sandy and Ty have definitely provided an array of literature, brochures, ads, etc. to give you a wide variety of things to do. The comments in the journal from past guests was very helpful as well. There's always plenty to do at the cabin too. They've provided a nice library of books, games, music and satellite/cable. Or you can try your hand at ping pong or darts. There's even a tire swing for the kids. Some of our favorite things about the cabin was having our morning coffee out on the porch swing while we watched the wildlife and relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of hiking.

This is one of our favorite places by far! Always clean, cozy and comfortable. Everything you need and more. The Nelson's have thought of all of the ammenities you'll need so that you don't have to pack everything, but the kitchen sink. It's all of those special touches that make it so perfect and truly make it a "home away from home".
We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful Find in Bryson City

This is the second time that we spent time at Log Heaven! Last year we spent Thanksgiving here. The accomodations could not be better. The cabin is clean and well maintained. The cabin has wonderful decks where you can enjoy the mountain air and our kids loved the tire swing in the backyard.

The hot tub on the back patio is also a favorite. It is so peaceful and relaxing. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the cabin to visit. It is secluded and has a very casual atmosphere. The kids love the ping pong table, darts and game table.

This time we came in October and brought our parents. They have not stopped talking about our long weekend at Log Heaven. They liked everything about it. Bryson City offers a lot to do. We took a ride on the Bryson City Train and enjoyed the beautiful leaves in October. We also hiked around the area too. There are a lot of good restaurants in Bryson City. One of our favorite is The Oaks. There is also a grill at Log Heaven so this visit we spent time grilling hot dogs and burgers.

The owners, Ty and Sandy, were very helpful and sent lots of ideas for entertainment. They were always available if we had a question. The property listing was very accurate. It was a pleasure to rent from them. We are already planning our next visit to Log Heaven.
