Historic Maine, Artistic Maine:
Rainy day? No problem! In Maine there's lots to do and see. For example, Maine was one of the first-settled areas of the country and one of the oldest states in the Union. Maine, like other New England states, is the birthplace of American Antiques. As a result, in Maine there are more antique shops per square mile than in any other state. Whether you're a casual shopper or serious collector, chances are excellent that you'll discover what you're looking for... or you may just stumble upon something that everyone else missed! Other Maine attractions are also rich in history and include museums, military forts, galleries, and town-sponsored cultural events. Not to mention the famous shopping outlets... And all of these are within easy driving distance from our cottage. Are you an artist? The ever-changing tides and sky cast an infinite variety of light and shadow on the natural beauty that surrounds you... guaranteed to inspire and challenge you! Set up your easel right in the yard!
