David and Sheila were helpful with the various methods of travel to use to get from UK to their home. We were after a relaxing break and got just that! A nice warm welcome, candles lit, fire roaring, chilled wine and cheese and fresh (still warm) bread. The house is huge, yet cozy, and although it's old, it did not feel like you were living in a museum. All the mod cons like; internet, loads of DVD's and books to cater for all ages. Large area indoors on the landing for the children to sit and draw/play, the cupboards are full of games and puzzles. There are extra pillows and duvets if you need them. There is a folder full of info on places to visit. You need a car to appreciate the area in full, but if you just want a ramble in the ample grounds, or a wander up the hill to the Mont de Cerisy (beautiful place for the family for the day- picnic etc) that is perfect. We had glorious sunshine in Oct 08, and I really want to return in the summer with my whole family, to experience the pool, and staying outdoors all day playing in the garden, and enjoying an evening BBQ and watch the sun set with a big glass of local red wine. David and Sheila are very discreet and you would not know they are there. They live next door, and they have a complete understanding of what people want in a home from home kind of way, and appreciate that you do not want to be disturbed on your holiday. The house is very clean and tidy, and the showers are great/water is hot, heating is controlled by digital wall unit to your desire, and logs for the fire are ample. There are hypermarkets a short drive away for food and petrol etc. We visted the American War Cemetary on Omaha Beach, and Mont St Michel. The Sat Nav was brilliant in the car, although it lost signal in a few dips (map is a good idea for back up). I feel very rested and relaxed for our short stay, and miss the place already. It's a perfect retreat for peace and quiet, and if you want more from your stay it's all there !
