Beach & Swimming & shellfishing:
Just a stroll or bike ride to the end of the street to Cape Cod Bay. Parking at most all Cape Cod beaches is free after Labor Day. 10 miles away are the crashing waves and majestic dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore starting in Orleans. Shell fishing requires a local license available at any town hall. Chatham has the best of all. Canoe rentals are available nearby in Dennis, Orleans and Harwich.
Fishing:
Charter fishing (max 6 persons) is 2 miles away in Sesuit Harbor...bass, blues, flounder and blue fin tuna are there to be taken. Group fishing boats, para-sailing and party boats are at the same marina 2 miles away. Rock Harbor in Orleans is 7 miles and has a charter fishing fleet there as well.
September and October offer the best salt water fishing on the east coast. Both from the shore and by boat, it is the best time to fish Cape Cod. The house can accommodate a large trailered boat in our large parking area (safely off-street) and lighted area.
Whale watching :
Accessible from Barnstable Harbor! (11 miles); Provincetown (38 miles).
Golf:
There are several public golf courses nearby. Captain's Course in Brewster, Dennis Highlands and Dennis Pines are all less than 5 miles. Bass River Golf Course and Bayberry Hills in Yarmouth are 9 miles away. Harwich has 2 municipal courses 5 miles away. Truro Highlands is a magnificent challenge approximately 30 miles. there are 2 executive courses in Yarmouth. Fall golfing is uncrowded and less expensive to play.
