Guestbook comments from the manager
Dear Home Owners,

We thank you very much for letting us stay in your cottage. We really enjoyed it. We went on the boats and fished. The cabin was very cozy with comfortable beds. The lake was an amazing view. We ended up being able to see the bald eagle! That was awesome because we saw him go hunting into the water! At night we would make smores & hot dogs on the fire pit. They tested great! Thanks again! ;)

Winter Relaxation

  • 5 of 5
Peace and quiet and serenity - exactly what I needed. I just love the coziness of the cabin and the "beach side cottage" decor was such a welcome atmosphere in the middle of winter. I had the beautiful floor to cathedral ceiling fireplace blazing during my entire stay. If this had been a normal New England winter, I would have done some cross country skiing, skating, snow shoeing right out the door and accross the gorgeous lake (what a view). I'm a little relieved that I it wasn't a normal winter though, because it gave me the opportunity to totally relax. I had time to cook and paint (artist) and read. I imagine this to be a perfect cabin for a writer in the middle of winter too. Thank you to Rindy for providing a great escape.

Quiet Getaway

  • 5 of 5
The pictures don't do it justice. The location is paramount as you are so close to New York and Massachusetts that you could find decent shopping and good food nearby. If you prefer to stay in, there was a near by grocery store where you could buy ingredients for smores. The out door fire pit was a great asset. The area does have limited cell reception, however that was welcomed on a girls getaway where we wanted to leave our troubles behind. The owner was very kind and available if we needed.

Lovely cabin, fantastic location!!

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was lovely - cosy plenty of room for myself, husband & another couple, Kitchen was fully equipped for self catering there's even a BBQ & gas grill which we didn't get a chance to use. The location is fantastic. Amazing to wake up to the view of the lake every morning. You can take one of the canoes out on the lake if you wish. There's also fishing rods available for you to use. If you aren't up to cooking there are lovely towns close by like Millerton (10 minutes drive) where you can find diners, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. There are also fantastic antique shops around the area. Rindy has been so helpful through our booking...unfortunately I didn't get to meet her but the boys did and they said she was really lovely and recommended places for us to go to. We will definitely come back and recommend to friends.

A great get away!

  • 5 of 5
The property is amazing and the owners are even greater. The owners were readily available and trustworthy. The place is nicely situated between quaint shopping, and fine eateries within 5-15 minutes but you would never know by the quiet seclusion you will enjoy at the cottage. Even though the weather was brisk during our stay, the home was cozy and fully equipt. WiFi was a plus as cell phone coverage in the area is limited. The firepit outside was a definate bonus. This place is a must for couples, families, girls get away, or just for piece of mind. I look forward to my return.

Better than Prozac!

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I, our two kids, my sister and her two dogs, just returned from a few days’ stay at this cabin. Long story short, we were not there for a vacation or weekend getaway. My dad had died three weeks earlier and we were in Salisbury for his memorial service. Yet even without that solemn occasion and all the stress that came with it, events conspired to whip up what could have been a very miserable three days in Connecticut.) Stormy weather a good chunk of the time we were there; a misplaced eulogy (found just in time, thankfully); a tree blocking the main road as we were on our way to — and already late for — the service, a 10-hour power outage and … we could not have had a more enjoyable stay.

Seriously, I am not exaggerating when I say that by the end of our too-brief stay — just 72 hours — at this cabin, I could not remember the last time I felt so relaxed, so well-rested and so refreshed.

With a picture-postcard lake right outside our back door, canoes and kayaks at the ready, neighbors we could barely see and never heard, a secluded, wooded setting; and a cozy, comfortable abode that felt like home in the best possible way, we had as nice a time as one could have under the circumstances we were in town for.

The truth is — and I feel a little guilty saying this, given the occasion — we even had fun! Actually, I think my dad would be happy about that as he would not want us sitting around feeling sad and depressed the whole time.

Even with all the travails of our trip, we had plenty of time to canoe and kayak with the kids, play with the dogs in the big yard, sit on the porch and enjoy the view of the lake, curl up and read a book by candlelight as the wind howled outside, and just relax.

Being able to unwind, in fact, was just what we needed given the reason we were in Connecticut in the first place.

By the way, the owner, who lives next door but whose house is mostly hidden by a stand of pine trees at one side of the cabin, could not have been nicer. She greeted us when we arrived, showed us the cabin, asked us if we needed anything, and then … left us alone, which I think is what most tenants want. At the same time, she let us know she was almost always home and that we should feel free to call or come over if we needed anything.

Frankly, we kept hoping the people who were due to arrive the day we left would cancel so we could stay another day. That was not to be, but we will certainly be back!

You Will Never Want To Leave, Heaven On Earth!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay this October in this delightful cottage could have never ended! The cottage itself is absolutely spotless, full of charm and warmth. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of room in the dresser for our belongings. We cooked all our meals in the bright and well stocked kitchen. The cathedral ceilinged great room and open floor plan makes the cottage feel open and bright. The screened porch was so pleasant we fell asleep on the comfy couch listening to the soft chipping of frogs and crickets. A small wooded hill blocks us from the view of the next door neighbor, making the home very private. The view from the home and the porch out onto this pristine lake were amazing, fall colors, blue sky, peace and tranquility. I even enjoyed a quick fall swim in the clear clean water. We canoed and fished for hours on the lake. My husband caught (and released!) numerous fish including blue gills, trout, large-mouth bass and perch. We were the only boat on the lake. We even found the secret passage into the next lake! We will be back to stay here next year, this is without a doubt one of the best values and stays we have had in many years!
