Overview

Santa Fe Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, full-size foldout couch,sleeps 3-4

Casita de la Luna is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy our walled garden (shared with our other casita). In the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. It is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved Southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. In the bathroom, enjoy a large jacuzzi tub and stall shower. There is a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Long-Term Owners: My husband and I have owned this property for over twelve years. In that time we have established a number of return guests who come year after year, saying that this is the best accommodations they have ever stayed in while in Santa Fe.

Cooling: The casita does not have central air conditioning. We have provided a portable air conditioner and fans for the summer months if people want to use them. The casita is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are 25-30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have hot summer nights.

Miscellaneous: One week stay minimum. No cleaning fees, no security deposit, no contracts.

About Roxanne Connan

My husband and I bought this property more than twelve years ago. I love owning the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over thirteen years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 16-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002

Why Roxanne Connan chose Santa Fe

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet and peacefulness. Short walk (10-15 minutes) to the plaza, but less expensive than staying on the East side. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

What makes this bungalow unique

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful ten days staying here. Roxanne has taken great steps to make it well-equipped and comfortable, from the snacks and breakfast items to the deluxe towels. I was particularly impressed by the well-equipped kitchen. We were even able to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return soon. Thanks, Elaine

Secluded, Charming Casita

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed at both casitas on the property on Pena Place for several years. I stopped looking for any other place to stay after finding Pena Place. The property is at the end of a quiet street in the lovely Guadalupe District. The casita is absolutely charming, and Roxanne, property owner, does a superb job of making it feel like home away from home. The vigas, floors, adobe walls and kiva are beautiful. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need, if you want to cook in. When you arrive, you'll find a bag of goodies to get you started on your vacation (milk, juice, fresh fruit, bread and always a sweet treat!). The quiet courtyard is beautiful and secluded, with only the sounds of a water fountain. The landscaping is beautiful and the property is immaculate and exceptionally clean. Internet access, CD player, DVD/Video and washer/dryer, make it very easy to never leave the property. The neighborhood is great and you're just a pleasant 10 minute walk to downtown SF and less than that to great shops and restaurants in the Guadalupe District. Roxanne is responsive and will follow up immediately if you run into any problems. Each year that I've returned, she's added some new touch to the property to make it even more special. It is a very special, wonderful retreat!! Not to be missed.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN SANTA FE

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful little apartment, GREAT location, everything you need in Santa Fe! It was a 10-minute walk to the central plaza and even closer to the Railyards area. The apartment had a lovely huge jetted bath, a fireplace with plenty of wood available to make a cozy fire and a lovely little private courtyard area. The things that really put this place above and beyond were the excellent value and all of the goodies and extras that we found when we arrived. It is VERY important to my husband and I to have coffee in the morning, so we stopped at a nearby gas station for coffee and milk as we arrived quite late. When we arrived we discovered not only had coffee and milk been left for us, but also a delicious bread from whole foods, butter, jam, cookies, chocolates, and perhaps I am missing something! This was SO greatly appreciated as were the availability of shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper, and everything we needed for a week-long stay. We would definately come back to this lovely casita!

Owner's Response: Dear Mr. & Mrs. P, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. That is what our aim is; to make our guests feel taken care of. I guess you are back in lots of snow now. We had about three inches last night, and by Thursday it is supposed to be 62 degrees! We very much appreciate your booking and hope that you return. Regards, Roxanne

Dream Vacation in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful trip to Santa Fe, and much of it was due to Casita de la Luna. We arrived after a very difficult trip from New Hampshire, and we were very happy to see our beautiful courtyard and spacious, comfortable, and charming vacation home. Roxanne had very thoughtful supplies on hand for our first day, which made us feel very welcome. The Casita is perfectly located, in an historic district of Santa Fe, and within easy walking distance of the Railyard, downtown Plaza, and Canyon Road. There was plenty of information available on restaurants and attractions in Santa Fe, as well as guides to Taos, Los Alamos, and Bandelier National Monument. This information certainly helped us in unfamiliar surroundings. When we return to Santa Fe, Casita de la Luna will be the place for us!

What a Pretty Spot, we were just thrilled

  • 5 of 5

The description was spot on. Perfect location to walk and see what Sante Fe has to offer. We did rent a car for the last four days of our ten day stay to investigate Taos, Los Alamos, the Rio Grande and the Cave Dwellings.

Ghost Ranch should also be seen. Quite impressive, the scenery, breath taking.

Another day trip was the train to Albuquerque. Great way to see the country side.

All in all though, coming "home" to Casa Luna was the highlight.

This had to be one of the cutesy places we've stayed in.

Absolutely loved the Courtyard, perfect for the end of day cocktails while preparing sumptuous meals in the perfect kitchen. We spent most of our evenings enjoying the facility, music, candles and of course the Kivi.

Then to bed in that comfortable bed, and the pillows, never slept better.

Thanks so much Roxanne for the "goodie" basket. Everthing anyone would need to start the vacation on the right foot, especially the cookies, with milk, it w as the perfect comfort food.

To anyone thinking of a VRBO trip to Sante Fe must try and get to stay here. October was a great time of year to go. Sunny warm days for touring around, cool evenings for a good nights sleep.

Love, love, loved it.

A ton of thanks.

Owner's Response: Dear Charlyne and Alain, Many thanks for your very kind comments. It seems that you really enjoyed your visit to New Mexico. And the tamale making class was very adventurous. I will have to try that some time. We hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season. Regards, Roxanne

Perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

This adorable casita was exactly what my husband and I were looking for! We had never been to Santa Fe and decided to spend two weeks there so as not to miss anything. The house is part of a three house complex, with adorable walled in patio, where we met other travelers, from places as far away as Canada and as close as Colorado. Also from Texas, Oregon, and Wisconsin. We shared information about local eateries and places to visit. (Sometimes the guidebooks are wrong.) All of the furniture and decorations were in the classic Santa Fe style. The corner fireplace was great during some chilly evenings and there was plenty of firewood stacked up behind the house. The location was perfect for walking to the plaza, weekend farmers' market, restaurants and shops. We spent many late afternoons lounging/reading outside on the cozy patio after sightseeing, touring, shopping, or dining at one of the many wonderful restaurants. We even took a cooking class at the Santa Fe Cooking School, learning to make tamales!!! Highly recommend Casita de la Luna!!

Owner's Response: Dear Mr. & Mrs. L, Thank you for your very nice review. As vacation owners yourselves, you know how much travelers like to read recent reviews and that it is sometimes difficult to get guests to take the time to submit an on-line review. So, I especially appreciate your generous comments. I really hope that you return to Santa Fe some time in the future. Regards, Roxanne

Five Stars for Casita de la Luna!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect rental for our week in Santa Fe: quiet, relaxing, romantic. The casita is large and nicely furnished. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. The living area is a kitchen with excellent dishes and utensils for cooking, a dining table and chairs and a soft sofa in front of a kiva fireplace. The kiva made the room very warm (not smoky), and the wood is all supplied. When we arrived, the owners had provided breakfast, coffee and sweet treats. Very thoughtful. There is a quiet courtyard, but it was too cold to enjoy in February. Everything about this rental is first rate, and absolutely made our stay in Santa Fe. It is easy walking distance to the Plaza. There are even closer restaurants and shops in the Railyard and along Guadalupe. This was a wonderful reeat for my husband and I. I would highly recommend this casita and will definitely return. Thank you so much.
