Our property is a small (530 sq/ft) stand-alone log cabin surrounded by aspen, fir, spruce, and pine , bordering National Forest, with a very private feel. It has radiant in-floor heat, a vault ceiling, and a covered front porch from which there is a nice view of the Continental Divide. It is completely and comfortably furnished. (Please note: there is no dishwasher, garbage disposal, jacuzzi, or hot tub & the cabin sits at street level, built atop a lower, separately accessed area which houses the cabin's mechanical, storage, and sometimes craft space, which is not used when there are guests.) Owners live close by and are the sole caretakers. We only do SHORT-TERM rentals. Please make initial contact through vrbo.
Our Cabin is located adjacent to the Arapaho National Forest within the town of Winter Park. The cabin is close to trail head for mountain biking or hiking into the National Forest. During the summer, there are many activities to keep you busy during your stay. You can mountain bike right off the property to over 600 miles of marked, mapped trails. You can also hike along Vasquez Creek, located nearby, as well as other many beautiful mountain trails in the vicinity.
In the summer, you can visit Rocky Mountain National Park, and enjoy water sports on Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain and Grand Lake, all less than 45 minutes away. You can also fly fish, play golf on one of four great local golf courses and even attend local rodeos. Our town hosts a variety of special events: jazz and folk concerts, art festivals, bike races, and much, much more. You can also access free parks for tennis, basketball, skateboarding and playgrounds.
During the winter, you can cross-country ski or snowshoe right out the door of the cabin onto the trails in Arapahoe National Forest. The free ski shuttle bus picks you up out front of the cabin for transportation to the Winter Park(3 miles) and Mary Jane(7 miles) ski areas for great down hill skiing and snowboarding. You are only one mile from downtown Winter Park for ice skating, shopping, dining and entertainment.
In both summer and winter, there is the Fraser Metropolitan Recreation Center, opened Dec.'09 which features a beautiful full size pool, exercise facilities, rock climbing wall, child care, plus much more, located about 2 miles away.
(Check-in 4:00pm, check-out 11:00am unless notified of other times.)
My wife and I stayed in this cabin over President's Day Weekend 2015 as we skied Winter Park. The cabin is just as great as the pictures. It had a roomy living room with gas fireplace, table for four, and a nice sized bedroom. The kitchen was very well stocked with most useful items, ie crockpot, very good non-stick cookware, toaster, spices, a coffee grinder, etc. We lacked for nothing in terms of cookware. And the fridge had an ice-maker, something many VRBO properties seem to not have. The cabin also had numerous books, games, and DVDs. The bedroom mattress was firm, which is a preference of mine.
The cabin was clean beyond belief. We enjoyed the front porch, using the gas grill one evening which was also very clean. The cabin is so very well decorated, and you seem to notice something new each time you enter.
If you ski, this property is located on the south side of Winter Park closest to the ski area, about 2 miles to Winter Park Ski Area, and perhaps two miles north to the Safeway in Frasier (get groceries at the Safeway, normal 'grocery' prices). It was a short mile or so drive to the main street of Winter Park, but you have the feeling of being secluded in the mountains. And, there was no train noise which can be a problem in Winter Park.
The owners are super nice folks that live next door. They even accepted delivery of some flowers for us for Valentine's Day and brought them to the cabin. The booking process was so easy, and we simply paid when we arrived.
There is no washer/dryer or dishwasher. But, maybe we shouldn't worry about doing laundry...and how many dishes can two people really dirty. I don't really care to use a dishwasher anyway. And, neither of these should be a deal-breaker!!!
The price is right, and the cabin is perfect. I wouldn't consider shopping for another property should we ever return to Winter Park without the kids. This will be my first call.
The three of us used this cabin as our base camp for exploring the Rocky Mountain National Park. Our daughter slept on the sofa bed, which she found to be comfortable. Since we weren't at the cabin much during the day, we just left the bed pulled out, and that worked for us.
The cabin was just as described in this listing, very cute, with lots of thoughtful touches. There were some spices, coffees, and teas in the kitchen cabinets, not just the usual salt & pepper. There were nice soaps and lotions in the bathroom. The cabin was very clean and the bed was comfortable, with a firmish mattress. The wifi worked great, never a problem! Winter Park was a happening little place, with some kind of festival planned every weekend, lots of shops, restaurants, etc.
The hiking in the Park and in the nearby national forest was wonderful. Beautiful trails with gorgeous rivers, flowers, and views!
Thank you for the excellent place to stay!
This was the perfect little getaway cabin for may us and our two children ages 6 and 8. It was adorable, clean, comfortable, cozy, and well stocked with the added bonus of being surrounded by national forest! We all had a great time and were very happy with the accommodations...in fact, our son said he wanted to stay another 440 nights. We will be back again.
Charming! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this adorable, clean, quiet cabin. We were central to every activity and spent the day fishing at WP's stocked trout ponds. It is the perfect place to relax and had such a "homey" feel-thanks to the owner's wonderful hospitality and ALL the little thoughtful extras in the cabin - and so happy to have our pets join us! Thank you, and we will definitely be back and recommend your cabin to friends and family!
My husband and I and our 12 year old twins stayed in this cabin over spring break. If you are looking for a darling cabin on a gorgeous property, look no further! We were so glad to be able to escape the crowds and activity of the ski resort. The owners were awesome to work with and were very helpful as well. The cabin is just a couple minutes from town, but also far enough away to make you feel like you have your own space. The cabin was very clean and had everything we could possibly need. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. We hope to come again!
