Community amenities include a private Ocean front and Lake side pool, 8 Acre stocked lake with dock, private tennis courts, private playground, private basketball court, beach and sound access. The new fitness center is available for fee. Shops, restaurants, grocery store, movie theater, sound side water sports, miniature golf, Currituck Beach Light House, NC Wildlife sanctuary and more are all a short drive away. In Corolla, there are a number of attractions and activities for your family to enjoy. Within walking distance of the home is the Currituck Lighthouse. Just south a few yards of the Currituck Lighthouse is the Whalehead Club - a restored home now used as a museum which sports walking trails on its sound side property. Be sure to visit the beautiful Old Village of Corolla, the Currituck Lighthouse and the Whalehead Hunting Club. Bicycles are available to enjoy the area. A 4-wheel drive vehicle will allow you to explore the north end of the beach where you will find an old shipwreck and are sure to see some of the wild ponies. Area activities include go-karts, kayaking, sailing, fishing, para sailing, wind surfing, paddle boats, golf, shopping, Movies and some really great seafood dining. An hour's drive will take you to historic Roanoke Island where you can enjoy the outdoor drama 'The Lost Colony.' On your way to the Island, stop and climb Jockey Ridge, one of the tallest sand dunes.

This is an Owner's Update and not a review. I am glad to announce that we have installed a new 46" LCD Flat Screen TV in the Great Room over the fireplace for your enjoyment in 2009! I will be posting updated pictures soon. Happy Vacation!
Owner's Response: I am glad to announce that we have also replaced and upgraded the mattresses in both master bedrooms for the 2009 season, to enhance your sleeping experience while on vacation. We have also installed a new washer and dryer for the 2009 season! Happy Vacation!

This homeowner seemed to think of everything for the guest- light switches were all labeled, kitchen well stocked for cooking needs. It was simply a wonderful vacation experience for us. Thank you.

Sprng break visit

The property was very clean and the beach access close. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and visiting the lighthouse and shops nearby. The bed in the upper master bedroom was very uncomfortable-frankly, the worst I've ever experienced and the week ended with a very bad stiff back and neck for me (45 year old female-not overweight-really :-)). The mattress was exeptionally spongy and non-supportive. Another drawback in the greatroom was an undersized TV. If families are sharing a house, we want to watch a movie together and the small TV was not condusive to that. The room could also use more comfy seating for shared movie watching. The deck railings seemed very low-I would worry about younger children falling over.
Owner's Response: Our #1 priority is to provide a very clean vacation home for your enjoyment on a weekly basis. We know that having the beach, lighthouse, shops, natural reserve (location of the Corolla Wild horses) and lake within a safe and short walking distance is a big "plus" for the house. Also the neighborhood is beautiful, exclusive and has top notch amenities. One of our favorite activities is walking in our neighborhood and the surrounding areas.

We have not had any complaints about the bed, TV, seating or the deck railing, but we will monitor and see if we have other complaints this season. The bed is only 2 - 3 years old, and I personally think of the bed as being more firm then our bed at home. The TV and furniture in the "great room" is as "advertised" in the picture of the home. We are planning an upgrade to a "flat screen" TV above the fireplace for next season! Trust me, the deck railing is to code and is safe and we have not had any problems.
