My younger brother and I thought it would be nice to take our parents to Maine for a long weekend. In all, there were seven of us, including my teenager and 'tween – boy and girl – parents know how travel goes with those ages both wanting their privacy. Privacy was never a concern.
The house is much larger in person than it looks in the pictures. Rooms are huge/spacious and afforded the seven of us to really spread out so that no one felt as though they were ever getting into another's way.
House rule is no shoes upstairs, but in my own home the rule is no shoes after the entry, so I was surprised at the leniency with that rule – especially with the gorgeous wood floors in the living room! This room is gigantic and extremely cozy. You'll find a good selection of movies for rainy days – not that we experienced one. The gas fireplace, piano, keyboard, and then French doors to the back deck are all in this room. There are toys available for younger children.
The stove is gas, which I prefer. (Once you've gotten used to a gas stove, you'll not want to return to electric!) You'll find everything you need. I grew addicted to the cappuccino machine. I had one years ago, but it never worked properly. This model worked like a charm and made it so easy for me to have my decaf while everyone else used the coffee maker for their caffeine fix. I loved it so much that I bought one. There is a laundry room and half bath on this level too.
Upstairs is a huge master suite. The bathroom has a shower, double sinks, jetted tub and toilet. Down the hall to the left are the other three bedrooms: One has a king bed and crib with a door to the balcony, one has three twin beds and the third has a queen. Most rooms have televisions. There is a second bath upstairs with double sinks and a shower/bath combo.
Ogunquit's heart is an easy walk from the house. Five minutes to the stores and less than ten to the beach. The owners do have a list of rules that they ask guests to follow. These rules are more than fair.
In Wells, Tully's Beer and Wine is great for stocking up on local beers. For groceries there is Hannaford. A Dollar Store has a huge selection and can buy items like laundry detergent, shampoos, soaps, etc. without spending a fortune.
We had a blast and plan to make it a yearly event. The homeowner's in-laws are literally down the hill and were extremely helpful in answering questions. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property!
