The perfect location to unwind and spend a week with the family. Start the day canoeing and fishing on Lake Champlaign which boasts some of the best freshwater fishing in the US. Spend the day relaxing and swimming from your own backyard beach, or enjoy the beautiful sand beaches at Alburg Dunes State Park just 10 minutes away. This newly renovated cottage is located within walking distance of the quaint village of Alburgh. Local attractions include Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Farms (former 2000 acre estate of the Vanderbilt's) Stowe, the Lippizan Stallions, numerous shopping & antiquing locations, and many others including Lake Cruises. There are boat rentals, plus golfing & fishing only a few minutes away. End your day with dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in the islands, or enjoy a sunset BBQ on the deck followed by a bonfire.

Notes: In addition to the canoe and kayak, there is a floating trampoline anchored in about 6 feet of water just off the beach in the backyard. There is a 30 ft dock and an offshore mooring for overnight/unattended mooring. The 0.2 acre yard and deck are fully fenced, so you don't have to worry about small children or pets wandering off the property.

Booking and Payment: Upon booking, a copy of the Rental Rules and Regulations will be e-mailed to you. The signed agreement along with a $200 deposit must be received within 7 days to confirm the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within fourteen (14) days of departure provided there is no damage to the house as specified in the rental agreement. An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required 60 days prior to arrival. The advance payment will be applied toward the room rent. The advance payment is not a damage deposit. The balance of rent is due fourteen (14) days before your arrival date.

Cancellation: A sixty day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment and damage/reservation deposit. If, subsequent to a cancellation, the house is rented for the cancelled dates, the advance payment(s) will be returned minus a $30 processing fee.

Check-In Check-Out Times: Check-In time is after 4pm EST and Check-Out time is 11am EST.

I rented this house for my family visiting from out of state - we were 3 adults and 5 children in all. My first impression was a bit unfavorable. This is not a gorgeous lake home, but by the end of our stay we really could not have asked for a better time. The kids thought it was amazing - from the water trampoline to the sand box to the hammock. We kayaked and swam everyday and the neighbors were very friendly, offering us the use of their kayaks in addition to the ones we already had available. Getting into the water on foot was a bit tricky at first (slippery and uneven shore); we didn't have water shoes and didn't see the ones provided until mid-week. We made two excursions into Burlington and Montreal - very easy to get to. There's a fantastic Italian restaurant (San Marinos) in Rouses Pt, on the other side of the lake in NY well worth going to.

The indoor games for kids and adults were numerous and not missing any pieces. I can't emphasize enough how much there is to occupy young children at this property.

The only real negatives were the kitchen table which sagged considerably on both ends and the available pots and pans. The table should really be replaced with something sturdier, and a set of pots of different sizes with original tops would be nice. Otherwise I have no complaints and was very pleased with my stay here. It really offers a lot.

A good value for your dollar.

House is not in the best of locations as the house next door is in need of some care. House is neat and clean inside, although the kitchen is in need of a remodeling. The deck needs cleaning as well. The house is very well stocked with kitchen and bathroom items. Bathrooms have been recently remodeled and are very clean. There's a good grill on the deck.
We had a great bonfire one night on the beach with the driftwood that's plentiful. It was very windy the week we were there and the swimming was just so so. We did go to some of the many other public beaches in the area. Sunsets are quite pretty.
Alburgh itself does not offer a plethora of eating establishments or areas of interest. If you are interested in an active nightlife, this is not the rental for you
We brought our dog with us, and it's perfect for a pet as the yard is completely fenced in.
If you want a quiet vacation with many beaches and scenic areas, then this rental is a good value.
