We had a 3 night stay that worked out really well for our daughter's graduation weekend from Hobart, William and Smith College in Geneva. Great hospitality by owner, making it a welcoming and relaxed event. Having 4 bedrooms with double beds and the central common area worked out well for us with variety of relatives coming and going. Screened porch was nice for when a storm forced us in from the deck and everything we needed could be found. Reasonable price as compared to others we looked at in the area.
We enjoyed our stay here so much we hope to come back every year. So much space to relax and enjoy between the large family room, porch, deck, or lower waterfront lawn. We had 3 kids with us and they occupied themselves down by the water (or in the water) the entire stay. The cottage was comfy, on a quiet road, and the owner very friendly. We also really enjoyed hiking the Outlet trail and trying out some of the local wineries. Highly recommend!
We spent a great long weekend in this lovely cottage. The inside was very clean and fully equipped with everything you would need for the kitchen and bath but the real treasure of this cottage is the backyard . You have two wonderful decks equipped with chairs, grill, outside refrigerator, covered picnic table, torches and lights.
A winding stairway leads to a neat little backyard equipped with a wonderful hammock and firepit. The dock leads out to a platform with four comfy chairs and a swim raft gives the kids something to swim to.
There is also a paddleboat and row boat for the adventurous. The yard is big enough for Bocci and Cornhole games.
We rented a skiboat from Roy's Marine and had a great day wateskiing and tubing. We spent another day visiting wineries and didn't even make a dent in all the possibilities. We had lunch out twice and both meals were casual but satisfying.
We are from Cleveland and this was an easy five hour drive on I 90.We had a great time and plan on coming back. You can be as busy or as laid back as you want. A great cottage and great vacation.
We had a very nice stay. The cottage was lovely, very clean and well kept. Ken and Ellen were excellent hosts and I hope to meet them on our next stay. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to enjoy a lake-front vacation or weekend getaway with all the comforts.
This place was fantastic! Our hosts shared a bunch of information on local
attractions and where to go for groceries, kayaks etc. There was a place
who deliveries the kayaks to your door! And we were right on the water and
went fishing, swimming, kayaking any time we wanted. And we had a great
bonfire one night down by the dock. The deck was spacious and the view was
lovely. The home was well equipped and large enough for our party of 8. The
screened porch overlooking the lake was a great place for gathering all day
and especially in the evening. And there was a free tennis court and
playground right around the corner. Just a lovely lovely vacation spot.
As brief as we can make it . . .the homeowner was not terribly friendly at arrival. Showed us around quickly, took our money and left us to our week stay. The pics in the ad were terribly decieving. We were lead to believe that we were on a quiet lake and were able to enjoy nature. When we arrived, the houses are on top of one another, one neighbor had a huge family with dogs, one of who barked/yapped the entire length of our stay. The other side had another large and loud family. Since we were looking for something quiet, this was not what we expected. We had an issue with owner after leaving, we brought our dog along to which there was a pet deposit for, perfectly understandable. However, he kept our $ for a carpet cleaning because he said he smelled pet odor, he could not tell me what it smelled like or where it was coming from. Our dog was bathed the day before we left to arrive at this home and she was outside most of the time. Confronted the owner about it and he got downright nasty and hung up the phone on us. Could it have been the dogs nextdoor he was smelling? Not to mention that he had told us that he was having 14 guests there right after we left, so when did he have time to clean all of the carpets?! We enjoyed our stay, but without the house. The wineries and surrounding activities were wonderful. Even the view was wonderful. But, this home needs severe updating. The kitchen is small with not enough lighting to cook, the carpets are shag from 50 years ago, everything is woodpaneld and the beds are VERY small, considering we had a 6'5'' individual with us that we were assured would fit in the beds, he was sqeezed into a bed every night. Many of the planks on the deck and stairs need to be replaced as they are either rotten or extremely loose which would cause a serious hazard. The step up to the parking area can easily be tripped over, as one of us did. The sun porch was the only thing that we absolutely loved about the whole place.
All in all, we feel that the owners were only interested in taking our money (by the way, no credit cards or checks may be used for anything) and not making sure we were at home or had a wonderful time. We were extremely clean and we spent A LOT of money on this place for one week, and feel that it was not worth it. The only thing that was worth it was being able to spend time with family that week.
We will not rent this property again nor will we recommend it to anybody that we we know.
