Luxury three bedroom apartment in Barcelona's emblematic Gothic quarter, in Carrer de la Mercé. Near to the Cathedral of La Merced - Barcelona's patron Saint - and right in the heart of 'Old Barcelona'.

Beautifully renovated, fully air-conditioned flat in an historic building with every comfort and decorated to the highest standards. Located just off the seafront, only five minutes' walk from the famous Ramblas in one direction and The Born in the opposite direction. Surrounded by myriad restaurants and tapas bars.

Medieval sights abound mixed in with shops of every description and sidewalk café life. A short stroll takes you to the Port Vell--Barcelona's beautiful old port, lined with restaurants and museums and location of Barcelona's acquarium and the Marenostrum shopping and entertainment complex. From there, you can take the cable car to Montjuic - location of the Spanish Village and the Miró Foundation - for amazing views of Barcelona and the port.

Walk the other way and you are in front of Barcelona's medieval cathedral and near to Plaza Catalunya. The Picasso museum is a few minute's walk, in the heart of The Born. Wander along to The Ramblas and soak up the colors, sights and aromas of the famous La Boquería market - a great place for lunch. A few minutes further on brings you to the MACBA, Barcelona's museum of Contemporary Art.

The apartment is a genuine home from home with 4 metre ceilings and balcony. Rita spent 20 years in the hotel business worldwide and understands what travellers want. John is an international art consultant. We want to help you enjoy this wonderful city by making you feel right at home in very comfortable surroundings.

Barcelona is such a great city! We both visited Barcelona before we met and had an instant love affair with the city and its people. We wanted to buy an apartment which we could use to explore Barcelona and experience the sights, sounds and aromas that make Barcelona such a great place to visit. There is no place so emblematic than Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and we chose an apartment that gives us the comfort of home within walking distance to all the sights in the historic part of the city.

What makes this apartment unique

We love strolling over to the famous Ramblas and visiting the incredible La Boqueria market which recently celebrated its 150th anniversary - unique in all of Europe. Some of our favorite restaurants are just minutes away by foot or taxi. We love walking along the boardwalk on the Barceloneta beach at sunset.

Barcelona's medieval catherdral is a short stroll through the Gothic Quarter and near to Plaza Catalunya. The Picasso museum is just a few minutes away, in the heart of the Born.

Wander along to the Ramblas and soak up the colors, sights and sounds of the famous La Boquería market - a great place to have lunch. A few minutes further on brings you to the MACBA, Barcelona's museum of Contemporary Art.

Paseo de Gracia, with its famous Gaudi buildings, Casa Batllò and La Pedrera is a short taxi ride away. Paseo de Gracia runs from the Plaza Catalunya up to Diagonal and is home to all the best designer shops.

The iconic Sagrada Familia - Gaudí's famous unfinished cathedral - is just a 15 minutes taxi ride.

Moving around Barcelona is easy: taxis are cheap and plentiful and public transport works really well. Two metro lines are only 5 mins away. The hop on/hop off Touristic Bus also stops nearby and is a great way to see the city.

This apartment was everything that was promised in the description and more. Our party of 4 stayed here for 10 days and all agreed that we had secured the ideal property for our trip to Barcelona.. The beautifully decorated apartment was located in a neighborhood so we could really feel a part of the life in Barcelona. Everything was within walking distance, restaurants and cafes, drugstores and hair salons, wonderful shopping and many of the historic sights of the city; but if you had to leave the area, a metro stop was only a couple blocks away. The management was outstanding and were easily reached to provide the answers to the multitudes of questions we asked. We would recommend this apartment to our most discriminating friends and family members. We would feel lucky to stay here again when we return.

My husband and another couple stayed at 21 Merce and loved our experience. There were no surprises during our stay; the listing was exact in its description and the owners very helpful answering questions prior to our visit. The apartment is equipped with all the amenities that made apartment living very comfortable. We did all the great tourist attractions and found several hidden gems. The location was perfect for this as well as feeling like we were part of the Barcelona experience. We recommend Le Salon which became a favorite restaurant right around the corner. The wine in the small grocery stores in the neighborhood are great and very inexpensive. We feel the price of the apartment was equal to our expectations and we highly recommend this listing.

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this property. From the thorough booking and checkin process to the outstanding logistical information provided by the owners, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The location is ideal to access all the important areas of the city. We were amazed at the number of outstanding restaurants nearby and access to the beaches and ideal jogging routes is perfect. The apartment was ideal for 6 adults with all of the important amenities, including laundry facilities and a fully functional kitchen which we used often. There is an incredible wine shop named Vila Vini Teca a short walk from the apartment with a gentleman named Guillem who was incredibly knowledgeable in local wines and spoke English which was very important to us.
We highly recommend this location and will definitely consider it as our first choice for any future visits to Barcelona.

We enjoyed our stay at Merce 21. The location couldn't have been better. Even though the street had many lively bars on it, we found the apt. to be quiet for sleeping and lively for sitting on the balony enjoying a glass of wine. The apt. was clean and easy to use. The washer and dryer were convenient. We would definitely recommend the apt. to friends and .

barcelona perfect

What a wonderful place to stay in Barcelona,location is perfect for exploring the old town,finding restaurants, and visiting local markets. The apartment is most comfortable with air conditioning,a lift,up to date kitchen, and a washer and drier We had a minor problem with the phone which the owner was most helpful in fixing.. Would like to return next year. and would recommend this apartment for everyone.
