Rome lovers who return year after year always look for apartments in this prized Piazza Navona/Campo dei Fiori area where they are transported to an old world city with its winding streets lined with buildings that date from the 1400s - 1800s.
Location
The building fronts on Lungardo de' Cenci and is steps from Via Portico di Ottavia, the heart of the 'Ghetto' the historic Jewish district. Campo de' Fiori is also nearby, the largest open air market in the center of Rome. Piazza Navona is a short walk, too. Largo Arenula and Piazzale Torre Argentina are around the corner. This is a transportation hub area with a trolley line that leads to Trastevere and busses to the rest of the city.
Exterior
This fine old building can be entered both from the Tiber side as well as from a small street that runs parallel to the Tiber. The entire apartment opens onto the small street. This shelters the apartment from the sounds of traffic on the river side.
A pleasant, spacious courtyard with well-tended plants welcomes you into the building.
The Lora apartment is on the 2nd floor European, 3rd American designation. A two-person elevator services the building.
Interior
This apartment is appealing for large families or several people who want a roomy, well located apartment. The furniture is basic and rather hodge-podge, with some odd artwork, knick-knacks, but if you can overlook these shortcomings you will find it to be a comfortable apartment and the excellent location.
A large foyer leads to a living room with a recent and comfortable sofa bed and two armchairs, a large separate dining room and a large and completely equipped kitchen. The apartment is comfortably furnished, the furniture is basic, some older, not fancy but this is a good apartment for a large family or group.
The dining room, living room and master bedroom overlook a small side street that runs parallel to the Tiber river.
You may feel like cooking in the large and well-equipped kitchen where you will also find the washing machine.
There are three bedrooms. One has a queen sized bed and en suite bath with shower over tub. A large walk-in closet has a rolling clothes rack and some shelves.
Second and third bedrooms share a hallway that leads from the kitchen. These rooms overlook the internal courtyard. The larger room has a clothing rack and there is a closet located in the shared hallway for use by both bedrooms.
The third bedroom has two single beds. The room is quite small, sleeping space only.
The second bathroom is off the main hallway. It has a cabinet-style shower as well as the usual fixtures.
The two larger bedrooms each have a portable air conditioner.
The bathrooms are older. The kitchen is large and very well laid out but somewhat dated.
To sleep up to 8 people, there are two hassock-beds that unfold to form cots, suitable for children.
