Get Out!: Truly, the Poudre Valley offers recreation for enthusiasts of every stripe. Outdoor opportunities abound in Northern Colorado's year-round sunshine, on land or water, alone or with family and pets. • Hike and bike in Horsetooth Mountain Park (1/2 mile away) • Swim and boat in Horsetooth Reservoir (1 mile) • Explore Lory State Park (12 miles) • Fly-fish the Big Thompson River (20 minutes) • Take a scenic drive through Masonville to the stunning Poudre Canyon (40 minutes) for more hiking, fly-fishing, and rafting • Tour the 14,000-foot peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park (50 minutes) • Ski world famous Colorado resorts, including Steamboat, Winter Park, Vail, and more (2-4 hours) • At night, enjoy the starry mountain sky from the comfort of your porch and yard. Or catch a movie under the stars at the Holiday Twin Drive-in (Mid-March through September/October)

Or Stay In!: We love the outdoors, but some days are best spent inside with a cup of tea and a book or a loved one. Since building our house in 1994, we've done our best to make it a home. Guests enjoy modern conveniences, from high-speed wireless Internet to cable TV. But we haven't forgotten about old-fashioned pleasures like cooking a delicious meal or losing yourself in a great book. Amenities include... 3 queen-size, pillow top beds and 2 deluxe, queen-size futons • Kitchen, bath, and bedding supplies • Washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, gas grill • Regional guides and maps • More than 200 hand picked books including regional guides, cookbooks, reference, fiction, history, sports, and a wide assortment for kids • Road and trail maps • Poker chips, puzzles, and board games for all ages. Please note: we are not TV people and we do not have children. So, we do not have a DVD/VHS library at all, nor do we have toys for kids. Please bring movies and toys with you.

Fort Collins: Just fifteen minutes to the east, Colorado's third-largest city boasts more than 600 acres of parks, 5,000 acres of natural areas, 20 miles of off-street hike and bike trails, three golf courses, a racquet center, three swimming pools, an ice rink, and a community center. The city is home to Colorado State University, whose Professional Veterinary Medicine program was ranked second in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. In April 2005, Men's Journal magazine called Fort Collins the fourth best place to live in America. MSN. com ranked the city among the country's top five retirement destinations.

Ski: We are NOT near skiing. We are at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The nearest downhill skiing is about 45 minutes away (and it's not very good). Great Colorado skiing is about 1.5-2 hours away. I've done many a day trip, but please note that this is not near skiing.

Other Activities: rock climbing, ballooning, kayaking

Great Vacation

K&H Family Sylvania,Ohio
Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We stayed in this home 6-19-09 to 6-26-09. We had two couples and 4 singles and still had room for more if needed. The house is about 20 to 25 minutes west of Ft. Collins....just up the foot hills of the Rockies. Horsetooth Reservoir park has nice walking paths and the parking lot to this park is 3 min. from the house. There is a daily fee to the park of $7.00...this fee also gets you into the swimming area too. We traveled to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Forrest park for two of our days. The drive there was about 60-70 minutes. The town of Estes Park is fun for shopping. We liked the restaurant, Poppies, the best....fair price for the pizza and sandwiches on the menu and the service was really fast! We went horseback riding at the Estes Park YMCA.....which looks like an awsome place to stay....I hear you have to book your reservation way early to stay there. Best sights to see in the RMNF were The Alluvial Fan (caused when a damn broke) and the trail to cub lake. Back to the house....we used the BBQ grill on the porch over looking deer in the back yard area. We spent time playing cards and games with our whole group....great family fun. We even enjoyed the thunderstorm that rolled thru leaving a double rainbow and later a great lightning show when the sunset. We rented this house so our family good attend a friend's wedding in Ft. Collins and visit with family in the Louisville-Boulder, Co. area and enjoy the mountains too. Mindy, the house manager was very helpful and kept in touch via email if we needed her.

My family rented this home the week before my wedding (April 2008) in order to allow all of us (grandparents, aunts, friends, etc.) to stay together rather than have to each have separate hotel rooms. The house was wonderful! It was large enough to accommodate all of us comfortably. It had an absolutely BREATHTAKING view of Horsetooth Reservoir and we even spotted some baby fox cubs running around the neighborhood which we adored. My family absolutely loved it. My mom was the person who rented it and dealt with the owner. She said the owner was as friendly as they get and was very organized and punctual. Thank you for providing us with a great "reunion" and wonderful memories before my wedding day. -Megan

Our daughter got married in April and we needed a place where all of the family members gathering for the wedding could stay together. This home was even more lovely than we expected!
It was homey, convenient and just a pleasant place to relax after a hectic day of errand after errand.
There were tiny fox cubs that came out to play across the street every day, there were deer roaming in the area, and the view was amazing. I would totally suggest this home for a special time away!
