Small efficient camp with deck and large yard directly on the shores of Lake Champlain. Ideal for a couple or singles. Located between Burlington, VT and Montreal, Que.
Lots to do, something for everyone: The Lake Champlain area provides the perfect vacation spot whether you want to sit on the deck, read, fish, swim, hike, walk, bike or prefer to take day trips to the many local attractions. We are located centrally between Burlington and Montreal. Montreal is an hour drive. You will need your passport. Burlington is about 45 minutes. St Albans,Vt is just a short drive. It offers many of the amenities of a larger city but has a real small city charm!
The fishing is great with many bait shops, launch areas and rentals available. Bring your own boat or rent what you need when you arrive. Licenses are available at many locations. Rent a canoe or kayak and spend a day paddling around the lake. The rural area lends itself to long walks and bike rides. The cottage is directly on the lake with a shared dock. We are located on a rural road and offer ample free parking for your vehicle and boat(s).
We have expanded our rental season to include an earlier May opening and later October closing. Many campers enjoy early spring and fall fishing. The foliage will put on it's spectacular display from mid-September through the beginning of November. Camping in the fall is wonderful.
Our family has camped at this spot for over 70 years. The camp itself is a replacement for the original building and is about 20 years old. The property originally came to the family by way of an aunt and uncle who lived in Iowa. They were looking for a place to vacation while visiting VT and family members living in Isle La Motte. I am a life time resident of the area. My home is near camp. As a child my siblings, parents and I spent every summer on the lake. We moved to camp as soon as school was over and often stayed until after the start of the new school year. We love the lake and can't imagine ever living far from it.
Patty Helfrich purchased this cottage in 1943
Our camp is ideal for couples. It offers a spot to just unwind or can provide a base for day trips. Our location is rural and quiet but still close to many attractions and activities. During the summer the area hops with so many things to do right on the Islands. In the spring and fall the pace is quieter and relaxed, There is still lots to do. Or just curl up with a book, sleep in and take in the scenery
Beautiful sunrises over the lake
Right on the water
Many activities close by
great little place, just right for us. owner was very responsive, informative, and helpful. just be sure to bring drinking water.
This little cabin is truly right by the lake. The bedrm is comfortable, the cabin is clean, the kitchen area is small but usable. We used the bedroom and the futon sofa to sleep on. The upstairs sleeping loft is fine for a young child but too close to the ceiling for anyone bigger to move around. The owner is a sweetheart and the price was very nice. Don't make the mistake we did of arriving in Alburg in the dark; we spent an hour and a half trying to find this place.
We had a wonderfully relaxing time during our stay at Middle Camp. As runners, we were able to have a fun experience running to the Canadian Border one day. Hero's Welcome and the local Irving station were handy places for us to get anything we needed during our stay. The camp itself reminded me of my grandparent's camp where I spent my childhood. Simply furnished, the camp was very neat and clean and provided ample comfort with chairs out on the porch overlooking the lake, a futon to get cozy in and watch a DVD or read during a rainy day, a comfortable room to spend the night, and a kitchen sufficient to cook our meals. Our favorite amenity was the outside fire pit with chairs beside it, where we spent a wonderful evening relaxing and talking into the night (we found wood for sale about 4 miles up route 2 - Patty knows the place). Patty, our host, was very gracious and made booking our stay, checking in, and payment very convenient. We were so relaxed and felt so at home here we wished we could have stayed longer!

Spring, summer and fall there's something for everyone!!! Located between Montreal,Que and Burlington, Vt. In addition, St Albans,Vt is a lovely small city which offers restaurants, shopping, movies and much more! Less than 1/2 an hour away it has lots to offer! Our setting is rural but within an hour drive to urban areas.
