Good Time in La Jolla

This property could go from average to Good w/more accuracy on some things and some items improved w/mimimal investment. Realizing it was heavily used the small items to improve might just be due to wear/tear. Most important accuracy in the listing would not lead to disappointment. Listing shows PC, fax, phone line. None of these were present and as a result encumbered us and added an extra expense to purchase wireless access time. Also, gas grill was inoperable either out of propane or damaged igniter. The sleeper was used 1 night and mattress should be replaced as should shower rod in guest bath which also had a loose tissue holder. Location convenience was good but not as good as described and really adding a little time (5 minutes) or distance (3-4 blocks) to locations would eliminate disappointment. Prior properties we rented would have had recommended restaurants and we'd suggest The Cottage for a good breakfast, Sante for an excellent and relatively inexpensive Italian meal. Pescadoro for fresh fish carryout was very good. A little better job on cleaning and general maintenance overall is suggested although it was generally in good condition. Personally I'd fix small items on window tracks. I'd also suggest the owner put together a simple "how to" book on use of t.v./recorder and the other items supplied. The property served our needs well for this trip and we thought La Jolla was great. A car is a must! We walked a lot and my wife, daughter and granddaughter and I enjoyed ourselves together. With the above suggestions acted on it would move from average to good easily.
Owner's Response: This review is a surprise, as we consistently are told that the cottage was a delightful fabulous experience. The property is advertised as having wireless internet not a PC and indeed it does. It is there for the majority of our clients who travel with a laptop. The phone line has been discontinued, as we found that it had not been used in over 2 years due to cell phone use. The propane grill works just fine--looks like operator error. The TV and all its components turn on with one button for simplicity. The home is a historic property. The window tracks are operational and were installed in 1934. This is the charm of the property. Renters consistently rave about the proximity to the village--however, older tenants may require a car. The property is immaculate.
