ADORABLE: Regularly adored by many travelers as a favorite cottage along this magnificent stretch of road, this storybook log cabin paints a lovely picture! Like the original Bliss log homes that align this famous route, this rustic full log retreat is a holiday delight.
A CYCLISTS DREAM ROUTE: The narrow, curving passage of the 'M-119 Scenic Heritage Route' is celebrated for both tunneling trees and breathtaking vistas. This is where our postcard cabin sits; with amazing views high above Lake Michigan and a heavenly sand beach below.
BEACH & WOODS: The quaint setting offers thrilling views of yachts passing and an occasional freighter in the distance. . .far below the bluff is a very private SANDY beach ...behind the cabin is the tranquility of 6 wooded acres to exclusively explore. Kids and adults love to play in the backyard trails! Look for morels, and identify the birds and flowers. . .This charming haven supplies a bewitching bluff setting high above the water with exciting views of personal shimmering sandy beach below. The view is a panoramic frame of Charlevoix to the south and Beaver Island to the northwest with stunning sunsets in between.
POSTCARD CABIN: This vintage log retreat was properly pegged 'Shorecabin' when it was built by the original owners in the 1950's. Settle into our 2 bedroom, 1 bath full-log bungalow with cozy screened porch and relax as the world goes by. . . Or get up and have some fun down on the beach, which is accessed by a gently sloping pathway. This path crosses other private coastal owners in our association so the slope remains manageable(rather than steep steps) 10-15 minutes down, 15-20 minutes back up! It is worth every step!!
PRIVATE BEACH: Rest assured the beach is private to each owner's frontage. (seriously private--if you see more than 2 people in one outing, consider this a busy day of hello's!) It is unusual to see anyone else on this beach except in the distance. It is rare if anyone walks by. . enjoy the solitude.
SUNSETS: After savoring the day lazing on this clandestine 150' beach, have a cookout in the front yard (equipped with picnic table and hefty park-style charcoal BBQ) and take in sunsets that will captivate. View the big lake from a vantage point that will have you telling your friends and family about this amazing slice of real estate.
ROMANTIC: Charm also lies within 'Shorecabin'. The interior is designed in a 'French Country' style that is both comfy and simply romantic. The screened-in porch is ideal when you don't want to let go of another day. Grab a quilt and cozy up on the cushioned glider. Listen to the sounds of the lake and woods while you watch your campfire flicker.
GREAT LOCATION-----Superbly positioned only seven miles north of downtown Harbor Springs, there is excellent shopping, boating, and golf with several fine dining restaurants in the area. Recreational activities in the immediate area include biking, hiking, wildlife viewing, and horse back riding. It is an easy drive to the ferries of Mackinaw City for a wonderful trip to Mackinac Island. The lakeside communities of Petoskey, Bay Harbor, Cross Village or the inland waterway are quick trips, too.
Warning: There is much to do, but you may find it difficult to leave this magical setting! Come explore the beach and woods of 'upnorth' soon.
The winding, scenic tunnel of trees road lies between Shorecabin & the beach. A split rail fence is your only visual divider between the yard and the gorgeous lake beyond. Dogs are welcome here, and love the woods beyond & the lake below.
'Shorecabin' rekindles the nostalgia of a quintessential northern Michigan cabin experience.....

Family of 5- we love northern Michigan!
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2001
breathtaking location, close to everything
natural beauty, solitude, relaxation, quaintness
We had a wonderful time at the cozy Shorecabin! I can't imagine a more idyllic setting or perfect beach. The woods (and it's deer and a very friendly little fox) were great for the kids and your fire pit was the perfect ending each night. Northern Michigan was well worth the long drive from Kansas City! Truly, Sarah & John ps---oh, and the flowers and card were a really nice touch, thank you.
The front porch was by far our favorite feature of the fabulous Shore Cabin! It is a great place to eat breakfast in the morning or dinner in the evening enjoying the sunset. Screened in so no bugs allowed!
We were impressed from the moment we pulled in the driveway. It is exactly as advertised. VERY CLEAN. Has everything you need in the kitchen.
Private beach access was excellent. We walked down to the beach every day and only saw 6 people the entire week. Everything you need for the beach was right there. No need to pack up chairs, umbrellas or toys for the kids.
Ideal location right on M119. Enjoyed watching the bicyclists ride the tunnel of trees from the front porch. Close enough to town to pick up anything you may have forgotten, but far enough away to enjoy some solitude.
Pet friendly for sure! Plenty of property around the cabin and an amazing opportunity to play in the water.
The owner's were outstanding hosts. Timely and thorough communication throughout the entire process. Made sure we knew how to reach them if we needed anything.
Stay at Shore Cabin you will not be disappointed!
This cabin is so adorable, the location is great and the beach is amazing. The bathroom is very very small and the shower is not easy to use. Other then that, the cabin was a great experience for us. The communication with the owners was a little difficult.
We stayed at Shore Cabin the first week of June 2014. When we pulled up to the property I just couldn't believe my eyes! The cabin is much more than anyone can describe in words! The outside is picture ready for Country Living magazine! And the inside is decorated beautifully! You want to go through and look at all the details in every room! Very comfy beds and soft linens make it easy to sleep in everyday. Everything is right there to make you feel at home and comfy.
The view from the cabin is breathtaking! The breeze from the lake begs you to make the fun and not so far trek to the sandy beach.
I feel asleep on the screen porch the first night. We had fires in the fire-pit almost every night.
I used the well equipped kitchen and cooked all but three meals while there.
The location is great! A short drive to Harbor Springs or up to Sturgeon Bay.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It was hard for us to leave and go back home to reality.
Thank you to the owners for this immaculate, charming place we called home for a week!
I hope to return soon. I absolutely LOVED this cabin!!!!!!!
Everything is exactly as owner describe and some. Location is perfect and views are spectacular. House was clear up on arrival. I would definitely recommend this charming cabin
We had such a wonderful, relaxing week at this adorable cabin. It is on the small side, but was perfect for our family of four. The decor is adorable and was well equipped with anything we could possibly need. My favorite spot was the screened in porch to watch the hummingbirds in the morning. We were super lucky with the weather, so we spent most of our time on the beach or in the yard. The beach was gorgeous, although a bit of a hike (especially coming up the bluff). The owners do have a shed at the waterfront with plenty of chairs, umbrellas, toys and boogie boards (which my girls used every day) so you don't have to lug that stuff with you. One caution: there are boulders and rocks in the water, so it helps to have water shoes of some sort. The beach was very private and we all had so much fun there (including our dog!). At the cabin, campfires every night were a must! There was plenty of firewood on site, the owner even re-stocked it our first night there. We didn't venture out too much, but I would recommend Pond Hill Farm for a fabulous farm-fresh meal and market, wine tasting and the squash catapult. We also liked the atmosphere of Legs Inn in Cross Village (the kids loved it), the food was just OK. The best part was unplugging and spending time as a family reconnecting.
Shorecabin was very clean and inviting; a good location for easy drives to Mackinaw, Boyne and Petoskey. Our kids loved playing at the beach. The owners offered extra kid friendly ideas, of which, the favorite was playing at Pond Hill Farm and launching cucumbers from a giant sling shot! Thank you for sharing Shorecabin with us.
Easy drive to Mackinaw city for regular ferry departures to Mackinac Island.
