South Kihei is a great resort town, close to everything, right on the beach, small town, great swimming, walking and snorkeling beaches, all you truly need. It even has a boat launch- for snorkel and dive trips.
Maui Vista is an incrediably clean, well maintained complex. It has three individual buildings- each with it's own pool, tennis courts, and outdoor BBQ's. It is un-crowded, tropical setting. It is walking distance to stores/shops/restaurants. Our unit is located in building three, which is the farthest away from the road. So you have no road noise. Maui Vista is a concrete building, so it's quiet. Our unit overlooks the pools, tennis courts, and ocean.
There is a nice 'beach path' that take you straight to the beach. It meanders through the swimming pools, tennis courts and grounds.
You can watch the sunsets off our lanai-It's nice to see them from the condo. This differs, as it moves around depending on time of year. The BBQ's are kept spotless. You can also see the sunrise above Haleakala in the early morning right outside our front door.
Thank you so much for providing such a great place for us to stay. Maui is beautiful and we will miss the warm days and beautiful beaches. We are heading back to a lot of snow so our two weeks here will hopefully keep us warm. Mahalo & Aloha!
This was a great experience! The condo is super easy to get to and it is walking distance to the beach (maybe 1-2 blocks). Easy parking and nice, free BBQ's at the tennis court for cooking your food. Central in Kihei so it is easy to get anywhere in the small beach town. It had a great view from the lanai. The beach chairs that were added to the condo were perfect, and we used them every day. The condo was VERY quiet. I think the only thing that could be a downside is that the curtains in the bedroom dont block out the sunlight so you get woken up pretty early. We were already on Pacific time and it is best to get to the beaches and surfing early so it was not a problem for us. Overall I hope to stay here again, many times and cant wait to get back!
The pictures of the view from the lanai on this condo do not do it justice. It is such a stunningly beautiful environment! You have the ocean, the beautiful gardens, the amazing sunset and sunrise skies, the flowery fresh smells, the birds singing and dancing for you, and QUIET. This is the quietest vacation space we've ever experience. From the lanai, on Christmas morning, I awoke at sunrise and saw a huge, brilliant rainbow diving straight into the ocean.
Paradise Vacations did so much to try and navigate any bumps that came up. They were gracious and responsive. I was mortified to learn that my 14-year old daughter's acne medicine had rubbed off onto the condo's new sheets and discolored them (this didn't show up until they were washed). Paradise was gracious and kind and the price they charged for replacement was much lower than I know new sheets cost.
Paradise also worked very hard with my cousin and a local gift basket company to get a present/package delivered to us -- even tracking us back home! Mahalo!
The condo has exactly what you need. Beach chairs are awesome. The small cooler and thermos is very useful. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and utensils. I like that they have a LOT of glasses and silverware so you don't have to run the dishwasher very often if you aren't cooking much.
You can walk EVERYWHERE from this condo -- dinner, nails, gift shopping, beach, groceries -- and even the pharmacy and an urgent care medical center! The beach in front of the condo connects to other beaches to the south for 7 kilometers of beach front trail. We took 9-14 km walks every day along those beaches.
We also have a teenager, so it was great to be able to leave the tired kids at home and walk to an upscale restaurant next door (Ami Ami). Definitely go to Cuatro to dine while you are there. It's also within walking distance. A very upscale menu and you have to book days in advance. Even the casual patio restaurants nearby were serving very good food!
At Christmas the weather can be iffy. But Kihei has the best weather on Maui. It can be raining everywhere and you can be swimming in the sun in Kihei. Kihei also has the best beaches for families -- snorkeling, boogey boarding and just fun wave jumping is right *there.* We stayed 15 nights, so we got to know the island well. We love the entire island. But we are so glad we stayed in Kihei. And we are so glad we stayed at this condo.
Having stayed in other Maui Vista condos, the owners did spend some money renovating their condo. But after that, there's not much to be said.
The "ocean view" is really just a peek of the ocean. You get a great view of the condo buildings next door, and the grounds of Maui Vista. With a peek of the ocean thru the buildings of the condos of Maui Vista and the buildings next door. Not an "ocean view" at all by any stretch of the imagination (not even with the binoculars that were included in the closet).
"Beach chairs"? No. There was one very bedraggled chair that could count as a beach chair. In ragged condition that should be tossed out. The one newer chair? A camp chair. When I asked about it I was told it was for elderly guests who don't like sitting lower in the sand. Um, if your target market is "elderly guests" then maybe you should identify this listing as such. Because a full size camp chair is not a beach chair.
Yes, this condo is affordably priced, but the amenities in the unit are fairly cheap. It felt like the shower curtain came from the 99 Cent store. The extra sheets in the condo were old, thin, and pilling (as in "we are done with these in our home so let's put them in the condo"). Beach towels are pool towels. The picture of the couch was over a year old in the listing when I rented it (they appear to have updated the photo since I stayed there). The chair in the living room is a joke, so really, the only place to sit in the living room is on the couch. There is no additional, comfortable seating. The "free wireless Internet"? It's unsecured WiFi. So if you plan to use it, be sure you have your own VPN, or else be sure you don't care about unsecured WiFi.
The location of this unit is not great. The wonderful trade winds that would normally cool the unit down in the afternoon go right past the lanai in the afternoon. You definitely need the a/c in the bedroom and living room. And honestly, I prefer the tropical breezes to a/c.
As far as the amenities in the kitchen, they are the basic, bare necessities in the kitchen. Many residential hotels have much the same quality, too.
You do get what you pay for, and I found that out. This section of Building 3 is also quite noisy. Not worth recommending. But you get what you pay for.
We have been at Maui Vista in the past and like the surroundings. Our stay at the condo was pleasant though we had several problems. It was very hot that evening and it was comfortable in the living room area after turning on the air conditioning unit. When we tried in the bedroom( few condos at Maui Vista have two air conditioning units) the temperature got hotter rather than cooler. We then noticed that the hose that connects the unit to the outside was torn so hot air was recirculating back to the room. We called the emergency contact and were told they would be sending a maintenance man the following day at 10:00 AM. As a temporary measure we went to a local ACE hardware store and bought heavy duty duct tape ant we were able to seal the opening in the hose. On the following day the maintenance man showed up promptly at 10:00, he felt the seal was working well but the hose eventually had to be replaced. As we went to bed one of the bedside lamps was not working as it was not plugged into the wall but we were unable to do so.The closest outlet was behind the bed but we were unable to move the bed as it was very heavy. The maintenance man was kind and strong enough to move the bed and plugged the cord to the outlet. When we asked him the reason we could not use the other outlet when we tried he stated it was to be used for air conditioning units only. In the kitchen a dish drainer would have been helpful. There was no floor mat in the bathroom so we had to use a regular towel . In the living room it would have been helpful to have have two(rather than one) lamp at the corners of the couch so my wife and I could both read. We almost finished the roll of toilet paper the last day but there were
no replacements. The weather was perfect and as usual good restaurants and sea food.
My husband and I stayed here from January 12-25, 2012 and had a great experience. The photos of the condo were exact and what we expected. The condo was very clean and well maintained. It had nice, new tile flooring and clean carpet in the bedroom. We had family staying in another unit in the complex and our unit was MUCH nicer. You could tell that the owners really care about their condo. It had all the dishes and cooking items needed and also had everything you would need to go to the beach. The only thing that would have made this condo even better, was if there was a tea kettle.
The beach was right across the street, with easy access. The pools were very nice and the grounds were well-manicured and beautiful. I loved sitting on the lanai (which overlooked the pool) but had an ocean view. You could see the whales in the distance.
Thanks for renting out your condo! I would definately recommend this unit to anyone. The management company, Paradise Vacations, is also great to deal with! They help you with everything. Thanks again!
Two of us spent ten wonderful days in this beautifully decorated and well equipped condo. The new kitchen and tile floors are nice. There is a good use of mirrors making the suite feel spacious. We appreciated the beach toys but found the chairs heavy and would have preferred small beach chairs. The unit is the upper rear building about 5 minute walk through the grounds to a wonderful beach across the road. The higher location was very welcome during the March11 tsunami following the Japan earthquake. We were not evacuated when most other visitors drove to higher ground and spent the night in their cars. The location is ideal within walking distance to Foodland, shops and restaurants and on the bus line. We enjoyed the pool which is small but not crowded. Barbecue tools would have been welcome. End the day on the [small] lanai watching the beautiful sunset. Mahalo
